Tofu's trading is one of my go-to card stores however my experience with it is not worth a five stars. I have no problems with the employees, pricing, or the community. I think they do a good job of giving back to the community by hosting tons of play nights and trading events. I love the fact that they have a HUGE selection of different TCGS, especially Weiss Schwarz and pokemon! They have tons of unique products that you literally CANNOT find anywhere else. Their TCG accessories are abundant compared to other stores, so many options to choose from!! And they showcase small artists! Which unfortunately a lot of stores don't do, which makes no sense to me because art is the main drawing point of the TCG community. The employees are lovely as well! My problem with Tofu that causes it to not get a five stars review is that the store is tiny. There is almost no space to walk around if you end up going here when they're busy - which is 90% of the time. Since they host game nights almost every single night, there is almost always no room to walk around and explore since the store will be packed. Which is sad because I like to take my time to decide what I would like to buy. It honestly makes me not want to go here because there are plenty of other stores in the area that have a lot of room compared to Tofu. Another con is that it's located in Vietnam town, with tens of other businesses surrounding it. Finding parking is an absolute nightmare because there are almost always events being hosted in Vietnam Town. You either have to circle around the same area for ten minutes if you want parking that's close to the store or you have to walk 10 minutes to the store. It's honestly a shame that they opened a store in this location because it's the main reason why Tofu isn't my NUMBER ONE go-to store anymore. Pricing and community almost isn't worth it to justify a small store that doesn't have much room to walk around and is difficult to find parking for. I'd rather go to a different store that has less foot traffic or is bigger. I try to put up with it but it's very frustrating . I've been coming to Tofu's for years, even back at their old location, but they have gone downhill tremendously. The in-store experience is far from pleasant. There's usually a crowd of people socializing right in front of the cards/register and blocking access, while the new employees make little effort to help actual customers. I get that it's a community hangout spot, but it becomes a real problem when paying customers can't even browse/buy cards. Today they crossed a line and established themselves as a predatory business. For the new set release, they kept the release bundle hidden until over 100 people were already lined up. Only then did they reveal that the items everyone waited for could only be purchased at "MSRP" bundled with an overpriced chinese box. They misled a massive crowd into showing up, banking on people buying other inventory out of frustration or obligation because of the time they spent waiting already. The release details were always made clear with the community in the past, so this felt like a deliberate change to take advantage of customers. Tofu's used to be one of the last card shops that people loved to support, but that's clearly over read more

I'm not sure what happened to Tofu's... I've had really pleasant experiences in the past when I came into the shop or lined up for a new release. Recently, it seemed like the staff was very disgruntled and unfriendly, almost as if they were bothered by customers coming to patronize the store. There's a definite lack of communication and customer service now. I saw several people, even those with young looking kids, be on the receiving end of what looked like annoyance from the workers. Maybe it was just a bad day, but it felt kinda ick. I'm not sure I want to support a store that treats people like that. read more

Highly predatory business practices. 100+ people lined up for a pokemon release after the owner said she'd sell at MSRP without bundling. After waiting for hours, the owner handed out flyers which informed us we'd have to buy an overpriced $70 CHINESE box to unlock msrp for the sought after items. This wasn't communicated and is unfortunately common for this business. The Chinese box was almost double msrp btw. This store isn't for the community, it's strictly for profit. Scalpers with cutsie marketing and a fake mask. Please do not support this. Tofus, do better. sleeves and 3 pack blisters are even above msrp and cheaper at Best Buy and Target. Take your money elsewhere. their excuse for the predatory bundles is demand. this means if you can't afford an overpriced chinese box of bulk, you don't deserve an ETB. They have a large selection of TCG products and all of the staff there are wonderful and very helpful if you're looking for something in particular! They also have great deals and offer products at MSRP on release day for Pokémon sets! I highly recommend checking them out for your Pokemon rips and collectibles. They also hosts trade night once a month in front of their store and offer buyback deals! This store is great! They always have a solid inventory with fair prices, and the staff is super friendly. Shopping here is quick and easy--definitely an in-and-out experience. The only downside is that parking can be a bit of a hassle, but on the bright side, the area has plenty of food spots and Boba shops to enjoy while you're there. Highly recommend checking it out! Since the recent release of TCG cards and the deceptive marketing during Chaos Rising, I decided to give Tofu's another shot. I saw a TikTok live listing for a booster pack from the official Tofu account. Went into a store, hoping to avoid paying shipping, only to see that they are charging $15 more than TikTok! Asked the employee if they would honor the online price, only to remain firm and state that they have different inventory... I don't see how it's not beneficial for both parties to avoid 3rd party fees, but maybe there's larger profit from selling to misinformed customers. read more

Welp! i have been getting ripped off all along! How I did not know about this store before, it hurts my soul! This is my new spot for Pokemon for my kids and let's not lie, myself now. Such decent pricing compared to what I have been buying at card stores and ACE Hardware in Saratoga. I had no idea how much they were marking up prices. It's sad, really. The owner and staff at TOFU greeted me immediately. My eyes lit up as I looked at the wall and cases of Pokemon. Let's not get it twisted, when my kids pull good ones, you know dang well they go in my safe. I will definitely be back and now my new GO TO card shop for Pokemon singles, grades, packs, and boxes. Absolutely terrible customer service. Walking into Tofu's Trading feels like you're invisible. No one greets you or asks if you need help. I don't this is hard to do considering it's a small store and you're in a customer service field. There's also no organization in the store whatsoever. There's no clear system causing cutomers to be scattered everywhere and employees don't guide you on where to go or what to do. Even standing right in front of the register doesn't get you any help. My experience today solidifed that I'll never come back. I came in specifically for a buyback promo. I walked up, asked if I could participate, and showed them the ONE card I brought (GOLD CHARIZARD, very hard to miss). I was told to join a waitlist, which I understood due to the traffic, but there was zero explanation or direction on how long the wait would be, where to wait, etc. After putting my name down, I waited a few minutes and overheard staff telling another customer the wait time was an hour and a half. I went back up to clarify because I might have misheard. That's when they suddenly said, "Oh, you only have one card, right? I can just just look at it." At that point, three girls at the table looked at each other, said nothing to me, and seemed completely uninterested. It was awkward and unprofessional. They ended up already having the card in hand and passed on it, but the whole situation made no sense. Why not communicate that with me in the beginning when you guys obviously saw the card I flashed? What if I hadn't asked for the time and waited the whole hour just to be told something that you already knew from the get go? Such a frustrating experience and a waste of time. read more

I didnt get the gentlemans name with the glasses as it was my first time seeing or speaking to him but he's very slick lol (respectfully but shady). He told me he'd given me 70-80% on my Minty 151 Blastoise SIR & 151 Charmander IR when in reality he gave me 67% for these HIGH value cards that will eventually increase again in value. Weirdly, I gave them a free card and then he said he would throw it in to give me more money back on my entire sale but he just bumped my 151 cards up to 70% which means the card I gave them still remained free and yet he was sly enough to make me believe I was actually getting a better deal. I blame myself for not double checking the math on my end as I thought I could trust the word of a fellow seller but that wasnt the case. I shouldve kept those cards because in reality 70% for those specific Mint 151 cards is robbery especially since the math on one of the cards was intentionally placed lower than actually market value. read more

Stopped by here today on 2/16/25 to check what inventory they had. Unfortunately all English prismatic evolutions and 151 were sold out including the Japanese 151 booster boxes and you cannot place a preorder for new sets. I ended up purchasing 2 boxes of shiny treasures and 2 boxes of terastal festival. I didn't get many hits in shiny treasures unfortunately, but my first terastal box I did hit the SIR sylveon. On my second box of terastal festival I hit a god pack and got all the eeveelutions with 3 packs left to spare. This made my day! Grading to come! Thank you Tofu's Trading!!! read more

Great shop that sells for MSRP for release weekends. Now... if you're away from release weekends and looking for older/hard to find it's generally +-10% from market price so I wouldn't even bother. All the shops I've been around to are doing this so I don't see a reason to mark them down for it even though I dislike the practice. Otherwise, great little collection of small figurines/gachas/blind boxes if you're interested in non-tcg stuff. In store- workers are generally welcoming and nice, definitely not pushy and always open to helping. A lot of their streamers are chill and also helpful to the new people. They do have a discord as well where I got some help for some issues w/ the streaming purchases so, shout to Amy(and Ann) about that. Vietnam Town is generally getting more difficult for parking as more and more good eats/boba/coffee comes in so don't expect an easy time on weekends. read more

Tofu's Trading is the first card shop I've been to, since I started collecting Pokemon TCG earlier this year. Geo helped my little cousin and I pick some cards out (they have EX/AR binders that have $1-3 cards!). This fueled our card collecting journey. I later met one of the owners, Amy, and she's so kind! At one of their trade nights, she gifted a card to my little cousin. He cherishes it to this day. They also sell products for MSRP on prerelease days which is crazy! Terrible in store service. They tended more to an old man who was clearly trying to buy raw cards to grade at a profit for himself than my 5 year old daughter who is just getting into the tcg. We watch reels together on social media of the pokemon community being so good to kids only for this store to be the exact opposite. We tried to trade at their 90% advertised rate on their ig to basically get laughed at and told we'd get 60% at best. Terrible experience and we still bought over $100 in product. read more

I've been going to Tofus for years and they've continued to get better with time. This is a LCS that cares about their customers and player base and it shows with how many new and returning customers they have! The prices are fair, the customer service is great and they have a wide selection of sealed product and single cards - they primarily focus on Pokemon but they also carry One Piece, Gundam, some MTG, etc. I've played in numerous events here and the prizing is always very good and the judging is fair. I can't speak highly enough about Geo, he's truly a gem in the Pokemon community and it's always a pleasure to see him when I drop by the store. The owners, Amy and Thanh, are always looking out for the community by providing new product for MSRP at the cost of ripping the seal on product. A lot of people may not agree with this but it's a great way to combat scalping, which is a huge issue at the moment and ensures the community all gets something to rip. If you're looking for a LCS, this is one of the best in the Bay Area. Drop in, you won't be disappointed! read more

Place is a rip off . Just went there didn't advertise there product correctly . Girl in yellow shirt with a black skirt was rude as hell . Talked to me like I was like a dummy and yelled like she knew everything. On top of that she or the store didn't make it clear on how there system works. They didn't advertise that you have to spend 50 dollars at the front to buy a poster collection or whatever . Highly do not recommend this store . Place is trash and workers in there are rude . If tofu sees this don't care . Place is one of the worse places . I want to make it clear that you should be friendly to everyone when walking in and have a decent system .no system whatsoever. One of the best card shops I've been to - great variety of stock in Pokemon, One Piece, and others, including Japanese sealed products. I even found some anime Weiß Schwarz sealed product. They also have a strong selection of singles, mostly in raw cards, and a small number of slabs. The staff are super nice - they are extremely patient and are willing to re-price based on current market and give extremely fair quotes. One of the owners also saved me from being towed as I originally expected to spend around 15 minutes but ended up staying for an hour (watch where you park in the lot - the tow trucks get there super-fast). A lot of their singles are marked up 20% above market. Also saw a TikTok of them offering $140 for a gem pack which is ridiculous. I would give the review a 1 star but the owner Thien (I think that's his name) was very friendly and helpful but Amy (other owner?) was so rude. After a failed negotiation I still said thanks for your time & have a good day but she just stared back at me without saying anything & an angry look. Seconds later was friendly with her coworkers.
