Heard about this place online and had to try it. Me and 2 of my friends went. No reservations, just walked in. Street parking, wasn't too hard to find though. Walked in, ordered at the counter and then wait for the food at the table. We sat outside and they brought us a extra chair. Staff was very friendly and gave some recommendations. I got a burger and some wings. Really wanted to try the fondue style but thought i might not be able to finish all the food. Friends ordered a few things and we shared. Wings were amazing, burger was pretty good, other than a lot of the stuff falling out while eating it. Didnt really like the salmon fries, interesting flavor though. Regular fries and i think purple fries were super good. Everything came out quick and hot to the touch, my favorite. Will definitely go back and try more items! read more

We tried this burger place shortly after it opened! It has fun, music-themes decor and a TV playing anime. You order your food at the front. Our food was fantastic, especially for the price. The burgers and curry were delicious but the fries were also a standout. They don't skimp on the portion sizes! The staff were friendly, although there was a stretch of at least fifteen minutes where no one was at the front. Some poor person waited at the counter for a long time before being helped (in fact, I don't know if they were ever helped, as we left while they were still waiting). The person who was supposed to be helping customers was in the back chatting with the cook. Since I hope that was just a one-off incident, I really have no reservations giving this place five stars. read more

Stopped by for casual dinner date and really enjoyed our experience! The vibe is casual with counter ordering or ordering by QR code at the table. There is a ramen menu and a separate burger menu. We tried a few items from both and they were all quite solid and enjoyable. Food came out quickly, seating was comfortable, and there was art displayed for sale which were very interesting. The staff were very friendly as well. Food: Salmon skin fries--5*: very well fried, overall delicious Poutine-- 4*: tasty with very melty cheese and loves the shisho on top. The gravy and meat were just okay Ramen--4.5*: noodles had great texture, broth was flavorful, and the egg was cooked nicely. Accompaniments were tasty and then pork belly good. Solid bowl of ramen and probably will be the thing we go back for Sliders-- 4*: Very good burgers with interesting toppings. Not a personal fan of teriyaki but that's a me thing. We saw plenty of hype about this new spot all over social media, so when we had plans in the area, we stopped in for some apps! Street parking is available nearby! The space itself is smaller, but there's seating for small and large groups! Service was distracted and overwhelmed, so we ended up doing a lot of things ourselves (grabbing silverware, refilling our water). The food was alright! The cheese curds were yummy but they had bonito flakes that left a fishy aftertaste. The wings were our favorite, crunchy with a yummy gochujang-based sauce!! Tokidoki has non-metered street parking. The ambience was nice. We choose to eat outside. I was pleased that there were not many bugs. There was a fair amount of kind walkers in the neighborhood. I ordered the Salmon Fries, Routine and Wagyu Burger. All of which came out fairly quickly. My favorite was the poutine. Each food item was tasty and well prepared and thoughtfully created. I will start with the food; pretty good and pretty creative. The immersion of japanese flavors into a central American fave was executed well! Service was pretty good; the staff helped accomodate me to ensure I didnt consume something I was allergic to. I had the Veggie burger. I am not the biggest fan of tofu and still not but the patty they make in house has a really good texture to it along with edamame and spices. Must try the cheese curds and the purple rain fries. Friend discovered this place so thought we try it out. Was a little disappointed that the entree menu is not available until 5pm and their brunch menu only goes to 2pm. We all got some sort of burger since that was the only main dish plus a couple appetizers to try. Here you can order at the counter or order at your table via QR code. It's a self service restaurant. Our server brought us our water and food but they do have a self-serve soda fountain (it looks like in the back). They also have condiments and utensils by the soda fountain as well. Nacho- chips tasted homemade, crispy and crunchy. Def a fan of this type of chips. For $8.50 we can't complain much but maybe a little more generous on the meat? Poutine- flavorful. As you get to the bottom it's soggy of course due to gravy so don't let it sit too long. Fiancé for the teriyaki burger with sauce on the side. The presentation of this burger is not the best. The choice of iceberg lettuce doesn't make it look that good as you can see. Looks like a homemade burger. Taste wise? It's ok? Tonkatsu Sando- have to say not the best tonkatsu I've had but it wasn't bad. I could say it's ok. Not a WOW factor for me to come back and get it again. TokiDoki Burger - next to the ramen and Japanese crepe place. we got the Karai Burger, the Chicken Namban sandwich, and we shared some cheese curds. The "Japanese hamburger blend" is pretty interesting. Softer and spongier than a typical burger blend. I think the meat is ground more finely. It had a nice little spicy kick from the chili fish sauce. And they gave us a free milkshake too! Visited on a Sunday morning and immediately ordered the Bloody Mary from the QR code on the table. It came with a large chicken nugget with a panko type breading and a slice of bacon. The mix had a cucumber taste to it. We then ordered entrees, again from the QR code on the table. I ordered the bao benedict (changed the eggs from poached to over medium). It came with a side salad with a great mustard like vinaigrette. Husband got their namesake burger which came with choice of fries or a salad and obviously he picked fries. The whole block (I think the other restaurants are owned by the same) was packed, and for good reason! The tokidoki burger had an interesting flavor different from other western burgers. The cheese curds were the same-- such a unique taste! They're fried with a light coating and had a lot of toppings. I think I prefer Wisconsin cheese curd style, but they're fun to try! Def a must visit if you are in the area especially during happy hour! Dishes are decently priced (even cheaper during happy hour) and pretty yummy! The place is pretty big. You can order from your table or at the register which is pretty cool. From your phone, you can customize the meal however you like and continue your tab if you choose to order more food. The food did take awhile but honestly the services were really nice so we didn't mind! We basically tried to order the whole menu and tbh it's was great. The cheese curds were really unique. I believe the batter used tempura batter so it was fluffy light with a nice cheese pull. The wings are delish!! Super crispy and I love the sauce they used. The salmon skins were super crispy. Can't really mess that up lol. The poutine was soooo good. Super gooey with cheese with a really nice gravy. The burger was decent. We also got the Hambagu which is not pictured. It's not bad, the flavor is okay! The only issue we had was that the meat can't be cooked medium rare/rare due to the mixture containing egg which is what our server told us. I def think the flavors would be much stronger if it was rare instead of well done but I guess they don't have much control over that. Just something to be aware of. I've been wanting to go try this place. When I saw the menu, instantly wanted to go. We ordered the salmon skin, it was OK. Could've been more crispy, it had alot of meat on them. Shishito peppers were good, sweet and mild spicy. They topped it with bacon too. Then we shared the karai burger. This was yummy and kind of spicy. For ordering the tables have QR codes so you can order from your phone or order when you walk in as the menu is listed. I went during brunch hour, so there was a different menu than the one on their website (it seems like the brunch menu changes as well comparing to the brunch menu uploaded on google review a month ago). Pros: They have a scan to order and pay code, which I thought was super convenient for when it's busy. Warm and cozy place and friendly workers. For someone coming from a small town, it was an exciting experience when they brought out the big and jiggly soufflé! I would recommend going during normal hours to fully enjoy their full menu. I had a refreshing Saporro beer and ordered the Tonkotsu pork sando. If you like a good pork tenderloin then this is the the sandwich to try in Minneapolis! No frozen generic patty, this is a thick pork cutlet, tastilly breaded and deep fried to perfection! Served on a marvelous bun with shredded purple cabbage, Japanese pickles, and a house sauce. Wow.... The music was lovely at least; burgers okay but not worth the price (flavorless). Three Japanese restaurants in the same corner all run by the same team... here's what happened as the night progressed: We dined in, asking for water glasses and a carafe of water (we got none of them .. no glasses around the water dispenser). Eventually since there was no one to be found (cooks were on break) I had to reach over the cashier counter and get glasses and fill them myself. Then... fries delivered with no plates, no ketchup or hot sauce ... the waiter just walked away. Wtf. So I had to go into the kitchen and find the waiter and ask for plates. really?! Our main course meals arrived at random... no timing (guess no one was expediting?!)... first plate came, 5 minutes later the second plate arrived, then finally the last two .... Albeit with no chop sticks or forks... there were only knives in the dispenser .... No forks or spoons. When we enquired for some the waiter had to go to the further restaurants kitchen and fetch not four, but just one, fork! And then there was the issue of not posting all of the ingredients in an appetizer, i.e., seafood in a dish (not listed) and one of our party is highly allergic to seafood of all kinds. The dish this person ordered happened to have seafood in the soup so, instead of substituting it out for something else, they just served it anyway and said to not eat it. Terrible service all around. If you're understaffed then don't stay open. read more

I heard the brilliant chef behind Ramen Kazama was opening a Japanese-influenced burger spot behind his original spot and had to try it out! The food was great, the rest needs to work itself out a bit. The menu I saw online looked intriguing, unfortunately I found out it's only the limited brunch menu during the day on weekends. Honestly, I think the idea of doing "brunch" at a burger joint seems like a clunky fit - that trend should stick in the lane of pretty instagrammy spots (where food is secondary), not places like this. The process of getting food is okay, but needs refinement: For in-restaurant dining in you grab a seat and use QR codes to order (they seem to realize it's not working great so also offer to just take it at a counter or via paper). The QR codes are at least tailored to each table, but the interface is a little clunky if you need to edit something you already ordered (ex. when deciding to swap a salad for fries, I had to delete an item and then add it again because the site would crash in editing an existing item in the cart). I am patient enough with tech to trouble-shoot, but I could see how that would not go well with some less digitally inclined (plus, you know... it's nice to talk to a human). This indecisiveness on the ordering process manifested in my order: the best item I tried wasn't on the printed brunch or regular menu, but instead only in the online QR ordering menu on Toast. I realized on my way out it was a special that was only shown on a small laminated sheet by a register (which I skipped because they said go ahead and sit down and use a QR code). No one told me about it, I accidentally stumbled upon it. The cocktail options were confusing because nowhere do they describe anything that might be unusual; e.g. what is a "Miomosa" versus their existing mimosa (neither paper or online menus told me), my Bloody Mary had something deep fried at the end... didn't know what it was going to be (chicken)... this just seems to be forgetting to do that sort of thing. In a normal live-person service you would ask the staff... but this is a QR code place. The actual service when food was delivered was pleasant and knowledgeable. The QR codes seem to waste their talent. I was curious how the "house made Japanese hamburger blend" was going to be in practice, and it was a good beef patty. Nothing overwhelming in one way or another. The Tokidoki Burger is what they describe as a "normal" burger with traditional restaurant fixings. Everything on it was fresh. They have some more interesting options on their regular menu... but this was the brunch menu so burger options were in short supply *at a restaurant with burger in the name*... {sigh} (3 burgers: TokiDoki, an eggs benedict burger, and a veggie burger). The side-salad option has a pleasant sesame dressing. They include refreshing pickled cucumbers on the side. We got a side of the Purple Rain Fries, which were tossed in a purple shiso seasoning and topped with fresh shiso. Like the patties, it was flavorful without being overwhelming. A good sharing item. Back to my accidental discover of the special, the Curry Melt was excellent: it took a sourdough patty melt and added fukujinzuke (a Japanese kind of relish) and served it up with a bowl of Japanese curry to dip it. Let me be clear: I *love* Japanese curry, fell in love in LA's Little Tokyo & Sawtelle and had it in Japan. I knew what it should taste like, savory (often not spicy) and rich. This curry was right on the money for what they were using it. It enriched the flavor of the sandwich. I hope they make it permanent. I also hope they to a traditional curry, katsu, and rice dish someday (the classic dish is one of my favorite comfort foods, but I digress). I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Get it if they have it. My only other critique is as solvable as the indecisive service method: The interior design is let down. I remember watching this structure being built so I'm surprised the interior is so undercooked. It appears no actual architect or interior designer had a hand in the space, it's comprises random ideas slapped together in so-so manners that don't match the volume of the space: a too-small chandelier, live-edge tables in only the booths. Empty spaces. Empty walls. The original Ramen Kazama next door had a cool old space to work with and that created its own character with some limited decoration. This is is a white box that feels like it was barely decorated by someone who was not up for the task. It makes it look cheap. My bill told me it wasn't! (thankfully the quality of the food also told me that, haha) All of my critiques are from wanting to see this place succeed. The food is good, I can't wait to get back to try its full menu someday - but I do recommend checking it out. read more

I needed to sub a salad for my fries, so I ordered at the counter. Plenty of staff running things, but too scattered for any of them to keep things accurate and consistent. This is closer to fast casual than a sit-down place, so keep that in mind if you're ordering; either you all go on the same check or you will get your food at different times. IN MY OPINION this is worth it because the tablets make life easy and service is otherwise competent and attentive! As for the food? The burgers whip ass, the appetizers are delicious, and I love that you can get a platter of meat + veg instead of burger + fries if you want. There are lots of different interesting flavors and textures and you will absolutely feel spoiled for choice trying to decide what you're in the mood for. The first time we came here they were playing a Mountain Goats playlist, also. That's not a criticism, just an observation.
