This review relates primarily to the food and drink and not as much to the service/staff. While the service wasn't terrible, it also wasn't what I'd consider stellar. Although we hadn't been here in at least 3 years we decided to come back for my husband's graduation - food wise, we were not disappointed. Six of us came for lunch on a Friday. We were put in a booth which just barely seated all of us, fortunately, no one required much more space. During lunch, there are a few pre fix menu options however, we opted to go a la carte as the meals are served family style. We were able to order several appetizers as well as order a fish, beef, and poultry dish along with a rice option and a sushi roll. Everything was delish! It was definitely enough to share among all of us and left us full and satisfied. The cocktails were made perfectly as well. The bill was also extremely reasonable for all we had. My husband and I just returned from "dining?" at Toku (translation: hurry up and finish eating so I can clear the table) this evening. The service was so rushed that we felt the busboys were stalking our table waiting for us to put our chopsticks/forks down so they could clear the plates. I called twice tonight trying to order dinner for take out. Both times I was on hold for 10 minutes. Sad!

Came here again for lunch. A lot better than last time. I told the waiter I was in a rush and he was very attentive and brought out everything quickly throughout the meal. I got Green Tea Soba Noodles ($7). It was so big! I split it with my brother who also enjoyed them very much. They come over ice with I am guessing a dashi broth dip but I ate them with the ginger salad dressing. So delicious! Next I got the Quinoa Fried Rice ($8) which is basically just quinoa with edamame and corn. It was good. Also really large which surprised me. I split a house salad because like the other dishes, it was large. It was great and I really enjoyed the dressing. My favorite part was the soba noodles. The rest of the table got chicken lettuce wraps, which apparently were not good, Mao pao tofu which comes with chicken (I wish it didn't so I could eat it too!) and sashimi. Also the sashimi apparently was not amazing but it was decent. The tea is so overpriced. It is $6 which is the same as some of the beers.. Overall it was a good meal. read more

I think people do not like to pay high prices for food which is understandable but I don't think you should rate a restaurant poorly simply bc it is expensive. I think you should just go somewhere else. That being said, this place is amazing. The food, service even the wine. I came here with friends who recommended Toku as kind of like long islands version of Tao and honestly it really is. If I pay $25 for an appetizer I expect that it's going to be delicious & fresh and the Kobe beef carpacio was just that. We also had yellowtail ponzu and the hot crab leg which were equally as delicious. The lobster tacos were stuffed to the brim with huge chunks of lobster. The calamari salad was perfection. Even the rolls we had were great which was the pacific & shrimp tempura. For dinner I had the sesame crusted tuna, which for a person who always orders tuna, I was really blown away. It was cooked to perfection & the taste was just fantastic. My bf ordered the whole fish tempura, which was really a site to b seen and it was really tasty. You Also must try the shrimp pilaf. It was ok. It is a hip joint and the drinks are good. Perhaps I didn't get the right things but the sushi rolls were mediocre and rather small. I don't like gargantuan rolls, which exceed bite sized but the roll I got was nothing special. It was the Kokomo roll. It reminded me of a roll I can get in my local supermarket. My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday and it was a great experience. When we walked in our table was available early. I asked could we be seated a little further away and the hostess said sure. We order the Pacific King Sushi Roll and the yellowtail roll to start. I had the lychee martini (omg it was so strong I knew I only needed one lol) and my boyfriend got the mango martini. Boy oh boy were we amazed the sushi was so flavorful & delicious. For our entrees we decided to split Ginger noodles, get an order of the prawns and the sweet soy marinated steak. The steak was seriously the best I have ever had. Everything was very flavorful and came out very fast. The service was excellent as well. They sang happy birthday and offered to take lots of pictures of us. I was at Toku this Sunday for a bridal shower. I have food allergies and did not think to call in advance. When I saw the menu I realized most of the choices were made with wheat or gluten. I mentioned to the server that I had allergies and asked him to check the ingredients. As the courses came out (which were endless) they gave me my own 'special' dish. Where they served crispy wontons and spicy tuna, they gave me cucumber slices instead. When the sushi rolls came out I was surprised with a Chilean sea bass wrapped in greens with sautéed mushrooms. So I've come here on several occasions because everyone of my friends has their birthday dinner here but the food is not special. I've had the shrimp rice, I've had the noodles, i've had the lobster tacos, sushi and the asian cesear salad. Not one of these things made my taste buds go nuts. I don't have a favorite entree, I order new things everytime to see if I can find something to love. The actual restaurant is nice and the staff has never giving me a problem but the food is a let down especially for the price.
