A friend and I ate here and I was very disappointed. The food was OK but I didn't like the fact that the food is served on styrofoam plates and plastic ware. We dined in and rice was served in a surprise container . I could have dined in a home on styrofoam places. The second thing is we asked for a to go container and she brought a small sushi container. I then asked for a bigger to go container she said OK. We then checked out and she charged me $1.50 for the to go container. She never said that we would be charged. Who charges for a to go container??? I will never eat here again. I passed by several restaurants that treat their customers as customers. read more

Not that good...We got the chicken fired rice, miso soup, and spicy shrimp roll. The rice we ended up sending back because the chicken was very rubbery and over cooked. We traded for the spring rolls, which were better but kind of doughy. The miso soup was great and the sushi was ok. Over all the food was cheap and eatable, but we probably won't go back. read more

Called in a to-go order, salmon hibachi. I asked for it medium. Once I arrived home, I took one bite and noticed the salmon was over-cooked. Looked at the receipt to find that the lady that took my order had typed in 'medium-well'. Sad day. The flavors were good. Its definitely cheap quality but the prices are inexpensive. I want to like this place, I really do. This was my 3rd and probably my last visit. I hope the owners read this review and value the feedback. I love Japanese food and really want them to succeed, with that said... Visit was during our July heatwave, 2016. Opened door and the heat inside was almost as bad as outside. Asked about the A/C being broken and server said "No, it is because there is an open kitchen and several customers had walked out because of how hot it was." I like Sushi well enough but I like regular Japanese food more so I ordered the CLEAR SOUP and TEMPURA COMBINATION for $10.95. The soup came quickly enough but arrived in a large to-go container with the smallest/cheapest teaspoon and was filled to the rim. I informed the server that I didn't order my lunch to-go and was told that is how they serve it. Ok, I absolutely hate going for a sit down lunch and being served in plastic take-away containers. What is worse is that it was the absolute cheapest, most flimsy container and flatware that you could possibly buy. The teaspoon was useless I would still be there trying to eat that soup if I used that so I tried to pick up the container and drink it directly from it. The container was so flimsy and the pipping hot soup had softened the plastic even more, so I didn't feel comfortable sipping it from the bowl and thought I would just wait until it cooled it a bit so I wouldn't spill it and burn myself. The soup itself was ok, I make this soup at home and theirs was a little heavy on the chicken broth flavor, light in onion flavor and anything but clear. The entree came in a reasonable about of time but again, it was served in a small styrofoam take-away container with a flip lid and the rice was in a plastic container similar to the soup but smaller. Again the chopsticks provided were the absolute lowest quality and I had to be careful to remove the splinters. I know this may not be an issue to some but to me, when a restaurant cuts corners on the basics of the customer experience, it always causes me concern on where else they have cut corners. The FRIED RICE... I usually prefer white rice to fried but forgot to specify. I regretted that forgetfulness because the rice had an awful scorched/burt flavor and was inedible. The VEGETABLE TEMPURA... The portions were very small and the tempura had a greasy sheen on it. Except for the greasy coating, the flavor was ok as was the dipping sauce. The SHRIMP, CHICKEN AND CRAP STICK TEMPURA... Ok, this was very odd. For some reason the "tempura" was a totally different recipe for these items. In all my years of eating Japanese food, I have never seen a tempura like this. It seemed to be breaded with a Panko Bread Crumb mixture and then deep fried. It was horrible! It was way over cooked and hard as a rock, I couldn't get through more than a quarter of it. It reminded me of overcooked "Deep Fried Southern Food" that you can get anywhere here and not Japanese at all. Pros - Staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean and the food came out quick and the prices are competitive. Cons - AC not adequate to cool in summer, cheap take-away used for service, utensils very cheap and flimsy, basic recipes need to be improved. read more

This is the best Japanese food in Memphis! Idk what other people are thinking giving it poor reviews. I've been going for 6 years and the food is fantastic. They do take away and dine in. This is not a "fancy" restaurant (food other than sushi is sometimes served in to-go containers), but don't be fooled. The food is incredible quality for the price. I would put their chicken fried rice up against any other place's. The sushi is delicious and a great deal. The staff is very sweet and accommodating. The miso soup is excellent. These guys are great. Been going for years. Great food that is a cut above your usual Asian places without the hipster up-charge and friendly staff who are always nice. I noticed the people complaining about the take-away boxes and you should note that it depends on what you order. Sushi and whatnot comes on aesthetically appealing plates. It's the "combos" and things that come in the divided boxes, which I appreciate so that they don't mix. read more

Terrible. My salmon hibachi was over cooked and dry which I know fish is fickle but when I told the chef. He told me "it's not supposed to be sashimi". I know what the hell a dry ass piece of salmon is. I've over cooked salmon plenty of times! Then it was attitude central. So he asked me what I wanted him to do so I asked if he can make me beef instead. When I got the beef, it was not only over cooked but really tough and dry! I was already ready to give up on life because of the shenanigans I've endured earlier that day. So my friend (which tried both proteins and felt the same way about the dryness) took my food up to the chef and told him my beef was over cooked. So then the chef began to tell my friend that it's not filet minion! I'm seriously over this place. Please don't come here. I liked the woman taking my order, she was apologetic and nice. The chef/ claims to be the owner, is a hard headed asshole. He wasn't going to give me a refund until my friend told me that he was going to tell the owner of the other store! SHEESH! read more

I've never had a bad experience here. This place is so good. Food is always hot. and the meat that comes in the rice is soooooo tender and good. I only get shrimp and chicken friend rice. I can't explain how yummy it is through words, you just have to try it yourself. read more

Very affordable and it's just delicious, one thing I don't like about it is when I was eating there...everything was in a To go container, idk if it was because of health and safety issues, but I thought that it was kind of weird since we are dinning there and everything was in a container lol. I don't know what is going on with their lunch crew but service here has gotten terrible. The past couple of times I ordered take out I was told 10-15 minutes, I showed up after 15 minutes and had to wait an additional 15 on my food when the place was deserted. Today I dined in and I bit into a raw piece of chicken. Their response "I'm sorry", no offer to fix the problem. I won't be back. read more
