    Halibut Truffle (7 pcs)
    Ann L.

Stopped by for a small meal as I had a meeting and didn't want to overfill myself. Ordered two carpaccios and a mojito to calm my nerves a bit beforehand. 1. Seared Hokkaido Scallops: generously sliced and seared scallops with cucumber and white truffle in a bed of cucumber and yuzu citrus. Very light. 2. Halibut truffle: fresh halibut sashimi decorated with pine nuts and gold flakes in a bed of ume vinaigrette. Very good Washed it down with mojito made with sake and loads of mint leaves which was divine. Overall good experience here. Would love to formally return to enjoy a complete meal. The omakase looks pretty amazing.

I can't rave enough about this place, would give 6 stars if I could! From start to finish, our meal was absolutely perfect. This is not your average everyday sushi place. Every dish was curated with such artistic vision, and you are guaranteed unique flavors that aren't readily available anywhere else. Chef Francis is a master at creating flavor/texture combinations that are not only a mouthwatering feast, but also a visual one. We started our course with: HALIBUT TRUFFLE CARPACCIO: Wow. The fish had such a clean taste, paired with the texture of the masago on top, with the poignant taste of the ume vinaigrette was divine!! KUSHIYAKI: We got a plate of chicken skin, tsukune (chicken meatball), beef, and pork belly. It came with a small bowl of soy sauce with raw egg yolk to dip in. No notes, just a wonderful combination of the flavorful meat, and the cool, umami creaminess of the yolk dipping! 10 PC OMAKASE: This was the most beautiful plate of sushi ever!! Each piece was an artwork in itself, topped with creative ingredients that are not your typical "standard" sushi. You are instructed to eat from left to right, as the flavors get richer and textures more intense with each sushi piece, culminating to the dessert at the very end! UNI UDON PASTA: Incredibly rich, creamy, and fresh!! The fresh uni on top was an absolute treasure, giving it the most brain exploding umami-ness. I get a lot of Japanese/Italian dishes, but this is one of the best ones I've had! MATCHA MOCHI CAKE + ICE CREAM DESSERT: Now this!! I have been pining after this specific dessert since 2019, literally! The chef here helped develop the menu at another sushi place that I loved, and I was delighted to find out by pure chance that he was now at Izakaya Tora (they don't serve this at the previous place anymore). I simply couldn't wait to dig into my favorite dessert again. The chewy and warm matcha cake paired with the cold ice cream was perfection! Truly as delicious as I had remembered, and brought back many good memories! The staff here is so kind and friendly. I cannot wait to come back!

Izakaya Tora is so good. We have never had a bad meal there. They have full meals, small plates or you can order whatever you want. We love their Blue Crab Maki Rolls and their salmon, be it in a sushi or grilled. It is just great. Their Crispy Rice Tuna is also wonderful. Do make a reservation because it can get crowded. The place is super clean and really cute. It is fairly priced for what you get. The service is just wonderful and they know the menu well. They can guide you. It is in West Hollywood in a great area that has nice walking and not so great parking, but you will be okay. Have the best time. We will be back. We just loved it all. Even the hot tea is super. Their sashimi is the best. There is something for everyone there. Even a vegan can get a good meal.

$55 DineLA deal! A super lowkey spot but one of my new faves. It's a small intimate restaurant where you can see the chefs working their magic. Items: cucumber salad: refreshing, tasty and a good starter Chicken skin, chicken leg and pork belly skewer: i liked the chicken skin wayyy more than expected, so crispy and yummy flavor. All their skewers were soooo good, a pleasant surprise 7 piece omakase!! I really liked the red and black snapper but all were amazing DIY hand rolls with yellowtail, ikura, and truffle: So pretty and yummm! I don't usually like ikura but it was fireee here. The vinegar rice was also really good!! Overall, super great place!! I am so glad we found it, considering how lowkey it is compared to other restaurants in the area. Definitely coming back!!

Came here for dinner during dinela and was very happy with out meal. Me and a friend had ordered the sushi set which came with sunomono, kushiyaki skewers, assorted nigiri, and a small jewel box set. My favorite of the meal was the pork belly skewer, chicken skin(it had a nice crunch), tuna nigiri, albacore nigiri, halibut nigiri, and the jeweled box set. I will say it took a while for the server to take our order in the beginning bit when our food started to come out it was quicker service. The establishment was a small but cute restaurant. Perfect for 2-4 ppl. Anymore than that it would be quite crowded for you and others

If inflation has kept you from eating out more, or think twice about going to sushi's, then this might be your place! We came here to celebrate a birthday, and found their prices to be really reasonable, more over, the quality is excellent. And that combination is rare to find today. There are many sushi, restaurants, or Omakase places on the west side, it's hard to escape spending less than $200 per person these days. Our bill, however, after a night of celebration, plus some alcohol, was less than $100 per person! That is a great deal. The best dishes we had included * Amaebi (甘エビ) - the raw shrimp was so sweet and tasty! * Miso Chilean Sea Bass skewers - never had that before in other places, but they were selling them for $11 each for a huge pieces! * Tora Roll - no rice, just sashimi wrapped in cucumber, very tasty and a great item to get if you don't want too much rice. We love their staff! They were polite and hard-working! There were three ladies serving in addition to maybe two or three guys behind the sushi counter the night we went. It was a full house and my head off to them for working so hard to keep everyone attended. It's a very small place so the ambience is casual and cozy. Parking tip: this part of WeHo is extremely hard to find parking. When I come here, I always set my destination to be West Hollywood library and park in there a lot. They charge a dollar for every 15 minutes, which is cheaper than all the valet parking or street parking, you can find here! And it is so easy and you never have to worry about your meter running out!

    Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna

This is such a special spot that deserves so much attention! Although not everything is "perfect", my dinner was an amazing experience that definitely makes me want to return. The two girls working as hostesses/waitresses are super sweet and the chefs I interacted with are so friendly and fun! I ordered an assortment of items starting off with the tuna pressed sushi. I think each component is very well done - the tuna is fresh, rice is nice, and the yuzu citrus sauce is tasty. But the sauce was a bit overpowering for the roll as a whole and diminished the flavor of the tuna and rice. The crispy rice spicy tuna came out piping hot and crispy, a nice scoop of spicy tuna, and good flavor.

Kimchi Kimchi Udon Carbonara the only thing that was good
    Edgar Q.

The place was empty I went for a quick lunch with my brother. We ordered the kimchi carbonara which was amazing other than that every roll we order that had some sort of tempura was burned all of them. The service was nice and courteous. The sushi rolls were maybe 6/10.

    Alyson C.

What a delightful dinner and experience! A nice, lively atmosphere that still allowed me to have an intimate date. The food was delicious, but the standouts from what we tried were: + Miso Chilean sea bass!! + crispy rice + all the nigiri!! We even got a truffle sashimi on the house. We discovered matcha nigori there which we really enjoyed, and definitely felt we got the izakaya experience we were looking for.

It's been a while and this place deserves an update I love that if I'm craving sushi or hot food this is the place to come If I want to sit at the bar alone or at a table with friends / family it's also available. Sake? Beer they have it all . Service is on it. Ambiance is cute and modern Been coming for years

This place is a must visit if you're looking for some high quality sushi in WeHo! From the fresh appetizers to the beautifully presented omakase, everything was amazing and packed with flavor! The uni udon and omakase is a must order. The service was amazing. The interior is cozy with limited seating. Couple bar seatings and 3/4 tables.

    Lori L.

This restaurant has fresh fish, tasty skewers and yummy uni pasta. The sushi presentation was pretty. I loved the uni, salmon belly and yellowtail belly. The Chilean sea bass skewer was tender and chicken crispy. The yellowtail carpaccio was fresh and paired well with the sauce. The matcha cake with ice cream to end was tasty ! The service was quick and friendly. The ambience was cozy. We found street parking a few minutes walking away.

    Pinhwa S.

Went here for lunch and ordered the sashimi & nigiri omakase. I love that it came out with smoke! Also got the uni udon pasta (a must if you're into creamy, rich flavors) cucumber sunomono for something light and refreshing, and ended with the mochi cake + ice cream The space is cute, not too loud. Great service. Definitely one of my fave Japanese spots in WeHo

Their happy hour is one of the better ones I've found, with a great selection of rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and more, mostly ranging from $7-10. Parking is easy too, with plenty of street parking nearby. I sat at the bar, and the service was fantastic. I ordered the chicken karaage, which only comes with three pieces, but they're huge, incredibly crispy, and still juicy inside. I also tried the wagyu taco--it was fresh and flavorful, though the sauce wasn't my favorite, but that's just personal preference. I finished with a salmon hand roll and upgraded to salmon belly for a small upcharge, which was absolutely worth it. For the quality, portions, and prices, I think this beats a lot of other sushi happy hours in the area. I'll definitely be back... although part of me wants to keep this place a secret.

Instead of the traditional nori typically used for handrolls, they served a salted, crispy version. While some diners may enjoy the added texture, it wasn't quite for me. It reminded me of the seasoned seaweed used in Korean kimbap--similar to what I buy at Costco and use at home--which took away from the experience I expect from a classic handroll. A comforting, warm, bright place that serves as a familiar dinner spot that makes me wanna go back to Japan. For first timer, the menu was slightly hard to navigate. Lol, but I guess that speaks to the authenticity of the Japanese menu. Assorted pork belly wrapped yakitori/skewers, 7.8/10: these were hyped up by both my friend and the server, but overall it was slightly underwhelming. The skewers were all seasoned nicely, although they were a bit hard to eat since they were so big. Starting with the pork belly wrapped cabbage skewer, I don't believe the cabbage added any sustenance to the dish. I did like the bacon wrapped tomato skewer since the pop of acidity and freshness from the tomato paired well with the fat from the pork. Chicken Karaage, 9.1/10: definitely the best dish here. Chicken was fried perfectly, and was warm when it came out. The batter was not too thick or heavy. Season well with enough space. The lemon is a must for acidity and brightness. And of course they kewpie mayo is a nice touch. Tonkotsu Ramen, 7.5/10: the pork broth was rich and deep. The noodles were nice and chewy and firm clinging onto that broth. However, the portion was a bit small for the price. I was caught off guard by that. Granted, this place doesn't boast about the ramen. Overall, this wasn't anything mind blowing. Shrimp Fried Rice 6/10 (tiny low quality shrimp, and bland) Baked Cod 7.5/10 (just tasted salty) Korean short ribs 7/10 (tough/chewy and flavor free) Aged Ribeye 6/10 (dry and over cooked)
