Hands down one of my favorite places. I wish we were back in Quantico, just so that I could eat here again. I never once left the restaurant unhappy. It was the first time I was able to get my husband to eat sushi and he found so many different rolls that he liked here. Normally when I'd ask if we could eat out, I'd have to fight him on it. However, Tokyo was the only place that when I asked to eat out or if he could pick up some sushi on his way home, he didn't even bat an eyelash. Heck, half the time he was telling me he was going with a couple other Marines, and knowing how much I loved the place would invite me along. They have a lot of various rolls and combinations as well as delicious meals as well as my favorite bento boxes. The waitresses even though some didn't really speak English were always nice and smiling and when I went in once for a pick up the guy making the sushi actually came over and chatted with me. I hate the D.C traffic and all the crazy drivers there but I would love it if we got stationed there again so I could go back to Tokyo. This is our go to place for fresh sushi. Tried other sushi joints in and around the Woodbridge area without much luck. Other places are either really pricey or lack in customer service. Been eating here for about 3 years now and haven't had a bad meal. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. The food is fresh and the prices are average. We find it affordable for a family of 4 to eat out. The portions are of average size, not so much that you have a ton leftovers but not so little that you leave still feeling hungry. Restaurant is located in the middle of a Marine Corps base with clean restrooms and great service. Highly recommend! read more

One was the wrong roll completely (ordered a spider roll and received something with fried octopus instead) Also fried rice instead of Yakisoba. But that's just for starters. Absolutely happy and pleasantly surprised with our experience this evening for dinner! The waitress and sushi chef were so kind an attentive. She noticed when my husband used lemon for his salmon and brought him more! She also immediately gave me extra napkins when I spilled my soy sauce. So attentive and aware!!!!! Food came out promptly. A pleasant surprise in the middle of Q town! They have our business while we are stationed here for sure. Food is standard quality you'd expect at a sushi place and we will definitely be coming back--- I am from California and grew up with excellent sushi all around me and this place is good quality! My daughter and I thought this place was pretty good. After a day of fling kites with my 8yr old, we thought we'd stopped in for a bite of sushi and try the place out, my daughter loves sushi. Our experience was very surprising, right away when you walk in, the entrance has Noren curtains and a small sushi bar, it was a very nice establishment. The sushi was pretty good, it's a bit on the pricey side. Next time I think I'll bring the rest of the family and try the rest of the food, for dinner. Affordable and good quality sushi. The crab meat isn't the most fancy, but the salmon was amazing. Buttery and tender, just how you want it. The sushi rolls were a generous size and they had a small selection of specialty rolls, but what they had I liked. I can't believe how close this place is to our house. The staff was very friendly. And food was good. Not fantastic. But it helped with my pregnancy cravings. I ordered the Age Tofu and Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura. The tofu was prepared differently from how I've had it in Hawaii but I liked it. The tempura came with a salad and miso soup. Salad was crisp with an Asian dressing. I've had better miso soup. The tempura portion was much more than I expected. I only ate 3 pieces because I was so full. The meal was a bit heavy for me since I rarely eat fried foods, but I enjoyed it. My husband got the ahi sashimi. He said it was good quality. He also ordered the shrimp ramen. It was good, but we are used to fresh ramen so he won't be ordering it again. It was a nice first experience and we liked that they gave us ice cream. If you have ever tasted quality fresh sushi do not go here. The stuff they called sashimi made me want to throw up. I ordered some seared sesame tuna as a side and it was boiled for 10 secs then sprinkled with sesame. Seems like a decent place for all the typical "cooked" sushi rolls but nothing close to authentic or quality here. I've been to this establishment multiple times. I really enjoy the variety of rolls and the service is on point. They have a good mix of Asian food here from Japanese to Korean. I have never been to a restaurant and had or experienced a horrible experience like I did tonight. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star! I felt like I was being pranked that's how horrible this place was! We just moved here last week and saw this place just down the road from the hotel and thought oh what a cute place to eat and my family and I love Japanese food! It's a Friday night walked in to no greet it wasn't busy at all had about 3 people in there already. There was a sushi chef cooking and a waitress with short hair that looked like she hated her job and wanted to leave! I asked do we just sit anywhere and the waitress just nodded her head. Found a seat with my 2 kids the waitress gave our menus and asked what we wanted to drink?! I responded water and she looked at me in a disgusting way. Kept coming to our table asking if we were ready to order and felt rushed. A few people started to walk in. There was this gentleman came in by himself sat down looking over the menu and the waitress asked if he was ready to order said no I'm still looking. The waitress then out loud starts to grumble omg why why and starts mumbling under her breath while wiping the table next to the table the gentleman is sitting at. He then looks at her with an angry face like what?! Says out loud are you serious?! Shakes his head and walks out of the restaurant pissed off!! Finally my daughter ordered I wasn't ready I was still deciding. My daughters food comes out but the waitress got my daughters order wrong. Called the waitress over she took the plate then heard yelling in the back between the waitress and the cook? This whole ordeal was becoming so uncomfortable but myself and my other daughter who's 4 was hungry so I still decided to order something. I finally decided what to eat ordered a oyakudon and asked if I could have the rice in a separate bowl because I just don't like all the sauce that comes with it drowning in the rice l. The waitress then in a loud voice so everyone in the restaurant could hear said oh no we can't do that. I was like what??! You can't put the rice in a separate bowl? The waitress says oh no but ugh you you make it difficult! I then said what? I make my order difficult I'm only asking to put the rice that it comes with in another bowl!! She thens says I'll ask her (the cook) if she can and walks away. She then comes back shaking her head and starts talking out loud to the sushi chef about my order and begins to look irritated and stressed because I asked to have my rice separate from my dish! I felt so upset and uncomfortable that I didn't even want to ask for more water! I will never ever eat here ever again. And I highly recommend not to eat here especially if you see a waitress with really short hair please do yourself a favor and walk out!! read more

Since Tokyo Japanese Restaurant has re-upped in Quantico, all of my lunch needs have been met. I love their daily lunch special of the Chicken Broccoli Don. Their Green Tea Ice Cream and Cheesecake make my tummy say, "damnnn that's some good dessert"! Also, they get 5 stars in my book because the girl who works there, Emily, is adorable. For being in Q-Town, the food is surprisingly good. Not the freshest seafood possible, but they do make tasty rolls. I ordered Toro, (fatty tuna belly) which is listed "at market price" for 2 orders of Toro (2 pieces each) I paid $20.00. The toro was gray. I learned after the fact from a friend in Fredericksburg who owns a sushi restaurant (Umi!) that Toro should be pink like the inside of your cheek if it is fresh. He charges $20 for 1, 2-piece order, showing how expensive this cut of tuna can be. I was a little upset for being served sub-standard sushi and paying a lot of $ for it, but, in their defense, they are making regularly good food and have quick. nice service. I especially love the little old Japanese man who makes most of the sushi. I enjoy their starter salad with ginger dressing (it comes complimentary with miso soup) but find the soup to taste "off." I LOVE that they finish every order with a scoop of creamy strawberry ice cream! This place is pricy, so be careful when you order. I highly recommend the military roll. It's deliicous! read more

I'm sorry but this place was simply awful. I went there Sat, 05 Jun 2010 at 5:00 pm. The restaurant itself is so-so. The interior was brightly lit with a few pieces of Japanese decorations, a nasty carpet, and it was humid and sticky. It was downhill from there. The misoshiru came from a freeze dried packet with a couple tiny cubes of tofu and, perhaps worst of all, they served that crappy salad you get at all the make believe Japanese restaurants. The tea was served in a plastic cup and tasted like thin dishwater; the cup wasn't even Japanese style, just a blue coffee type cup. The sushi was abysmal, barely a step above the dried out garbage you get shrink wrapped at the commissary. This sushi is identical to the garbage sold at Tokyo Japanese Steak House and Sakura but without the fancy restaurant wrapped around it. Ugh...I was going to give it one star but I realized that was unfair because my expectations were SO high based on the previous rating. This is stock Japanese food you get at any Korean owned Japanese/Korean/Chinese restaurant. If you want better (not good) sushi, go to Wegman's. If you want GREAT sushi, go to Sushi-ko. Maybe they'll read this and work to improve themselves, I hope so because they're not a chain and I'd like to see a local venture succeed. The market is there because there is NO GOOD SUSHI IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA!!! read more
