I was really excited to try this place for the first time, but unfortunately our experience fell short. We arrived around 7:30 PM and waited about 35 minutes to be seated. After being seated around 8 PM, we didn't see a cook until about 9 PM. During that time, we even had to flag down waitstaff just to get water. I also failed to mention that while we were waiting in the bar area, I ordered an appetizer and they bought me out the wrong thing. I ordered the steamed shrimp shumai and they bought me out fried shrimp shumai. When I asked the waitress about this, she said she didn't know why and that was all she said. I understand it was Valentine's Day and things can be busy, so I tried to be patient. However, the restaurant didn't appear overly crowded, and it was disappointing to see three tables who arrived after us receive a cook before we did. To top it off, there was an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill, which may explain the lack of attentiveness we experienced. Another positive is that their happy hour specials include Sunday. I thought it was a good value. Though there wasn't a whole lot of people in there at the time service was a little slow, and they looked shortstaffed. Waiter didn't check back like I thought they would, but some people might consider that a positive. Regardless, he got 20%. There is a fish pond and a waterfall inside which I thought was a nice touch and helped to separate the sushi side from the Japanese steakhouse side . I ordered through the restaurant's website - The ordering process was a bit clunkier than expected, but nothing overly absurd. The credit card processing system could be a bit better - For whatever reason, it decided it was going to disallow the use of one of my credit cards, even though it was valid and from the same issuing bank as the one that I ended up using for the order! No idea what went wrong there. The "billing address" section seems excessive and unnecessary. I ordered the Teriyaki Style Chicken, +$1 for fried rice. I ordered to-go, and the food was still of a good hot/warm temperature when I got 20 minutes away to my destination. Great packaging! What I got was a container of soup, a salad, fried rice, and my chicken teriyaki. Upon pick-up, even though it was the only to-go meal on the rack, I was asked to provide the order number, so I guess have that ready when you go in, even if you placed the order thru their own site and not DoorDash/UberEats. The soup was very good. I assume it was a miso soup - it had mushrooms and green onions. It was a nice light broth with plenty of flavor. The fried rice was a bit lacking on seasoning - particularly salt / soy flavor. Just kind of bland. But, it did stick nicely together and seemed to be quite freshly made. The only other added parts I could see in it were egg - No onions, no corn, no bean sprouts. Simple fried rice. I would have to say that the food I was craving and looking forward to the most was the thing that let me down the most. I have no idea what brand or kind of teriyaki sauce they are using on their chicken, but my god does it totally NOT fit the quality that should be present in their food. The first bite I got was riddled with just a straight weird chemically flavor that didn't fit at all with teriyaki chicken. You should expect teriyaki sauce to have a sweet and savory flavor with a salty tang from the soy sauce, a sweet honey flavor, and a rich glossy texture. This was not that! This was chemical, fake smoke, slightly peppery, very watery, and just all-around not a good taste for the seemingly-fresh chicken it was served upon. The chicken tasted great by itself, but then the spices and sauce just completely destroyed any good flavor that was there... Don't get me wrong, the taste wasn't bad to the point of being inedible, but it was very strange and not at all what was expected. Still a decent meal if you're looking for something non-traditional. I dined with two other people this evening. Our chef amused us when he used a spatula to make an egg roll on top of and then inside his chef's hat. The mushroom soup and the salad were good. I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp and Lobster, which was too salty. I could barely taste the seafood. The same marinade was used for the Hibachi Filet Mignon that my dining companions ordered and felt was perfectly seasoned. So a low-sodium sauce is the better choice for hibachi seafood. My glass of water was cold and refreshing, and it washed all that sodium down. My lychee martini was a good bargain at $7. There is an automatic gratuity of 18% that is included on each check. A sign advising customers about this policy is posted on a column near the hibachi table. The restaurant is perfect for families and date night. I highly recommend. read more

My wife and daughters went to this place for dinner with friends. Where to start, hm... Service was horrendous and the waiter didn't even know what was in the menu and was telling my wife to figure out by herself without any explanation. How rude is that??? Who in the world would tell the customer to figure out the menu? Are you serious??? The waiter's name is Dannil and despite the unsatisfactory service he has the guts to add 18% tip to the final check even though it was a separate check for the 3 of my wife kids and the other friend had two so 5 total. I have never seen a restaurant charge 18% tip for 5 people. Extremely disappointed with service and a mediocre taste on the food ordered. Do not expect us to ever step foot at this restaurant period and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, please avoid this place at all costs. A great hibachi restaurant in the Woodbridge area. This is the corner store in a line of stores situated on the corner of Potomac Mills Road and Gideon Drive. It may not look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you. There is plenty of parking directly in front of the location. I would recommend reservations as this place can get busy. The decor is tastefully minimalist, enhancing the dining experience without distraction. It seems to have 3 different areas inside the restaurant: regular tables to the right, a bar in the middle, and a large area with many hibachi tables seating 8 people each for most of them. Our party checked in with the hostess and we were seated immediately on one side of the table. They seated another group across from us. We ordered drinks and dinners. The menu showcases a fusion of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine, featuring expertly crafted sushi rolls, sashimi platters, and savory hot dishes like teriyaki and tempura. They were turning off the lights and we would have headed out but hadn't gotten our checks yet. I probably would have given this a lower rating had the food not been good and our waitress not been friendly, but the restaurant itself didn't staff enough people for our party and I'm not sure the kitchen was prepared for this many people, either. We were trying to figure out where to go for a Friday night dinner when the flags and Grand Opening banner caught our attention while driving through the parking lot. We made a quick u-turn and headed to the door. A sign in the front window informed us that the restaurant was still in part of its soft opening, so no alcohol would be served as they completed the permitting process. We were greeted and asked if we wanted to sit on the hibachi side of the restaurant or the sushi bar side. Both sides looked great, but we decided to try the sushi side first. They had a nice variety on the menu, whether you want more adventurous items like unagi don or if you'd rather stick to a teriyaki chicken. I decided to try the chirashi dinner (including miso soup and salad), while my husband opted for the tempura shrimp entree. The miso soup was just okay, but it tasted watered down and lacked depth to the flavor. (I'm guessing they are focusing on main dishes during the soft opening.) I enjoyed the salad, though. The dressing was delicious and flavorful. The chirashi bowl was fantastic! Everything was plated beautifully. The sashimi was tasty and I really liked the tako. (I could have done without the krab, though.) I love that they include wakame and plentiful daikon over the ridiculously good sushi rice. They even use real shiso leaves. It's definitely impressive for the Woodbridge area. My husband's tempura was great, too. The shrimp were light and fluffy without residual oil. The bites of onion I tried were also stellar. I definitely would order this for myself in the future. We decided to finish our meal with dessert, so we opted for the hazelnut gelato with chocolate swirls. Not only was this a tasty conclusion to the meal, but we loved the brilliant use of whipped cream used to keep the glassware standing. Some other positives are the place settings. They include both forks and chopsticks so you can use whatever utensils are most comfortable for you. They've also made excellent use of the space. Both the hibachi and sushi sides of the restaurant felt complete. The bar in the center across from the waterfall koi pond is a nice way to tie the two sides together. We can't wait to come back and try everything on the menu. The prices are already reasonable, but the signage in the front says they offer 1/2 off select sushi Monday through Thursday with daily happy hour from 4-7. I swung open your hermetically sealed doors and feasted my eyes on your glory. I watched my cheffer, Cho, prepare an eastern feast for me to stuff my pale little cheeks with . As he sizzled surf, turf, and rice alike I watched like a hyena watched a dying baby. Much unlike a dying baby, all the food was cooked perfectly. I could spend my days myopically blabbering about the salubrious nature of the alimentation, but I'd be remiss to note the quality of the wait staff. Might I take this review one step further and mention the Messiah of my dining experience: Devon. Under the guise of beverages Devon brought us glee and rambunctious laughter. Mid-way through my meal, tragedy like lightning struck my table. Some of Mr. Cho's perfectly cuisined chicken got lodged in my esophagus passage, and I choked. My hands wrapped themselves around my manicured throat and my bloodshot eyes begged for help. The warm light at the end of the tunnel inched closer and I welcomed the final embrace of life. It was: Chicken Shrimp Large Scallops Filet Mignon & Lobster All came with rice, noodles and veggies that the chef launched in our mouths. My poor daughter, she said no while laughing and he launched it anyway. It bounced off her head and she turned a little serious and said "why did you do that? I said no." I asked her if she felt bad. She said no, She just look dumbfounded for a minute. As long as she was ok, I could shake it off. Alright. The food! Appetizers: Mushroom soup and salads came out first. My wife is allergic to mushrooms, so we sent it back. However, she never got a replacement soup. The Shrimp Tempura Sushi roll was awesome! The salad was Meh. If you have food allergies, AVOID. Food was great but I deducted 2 stars for the menu descriptions not being updated. Due to food allergies, it's imperative restaurants have correct descriptions and that was a miserable fail here. When our food came out, we told the waitress the sushi rolls we ordered didn't say it would have the crunchy flakes on them. We made sure to order rolls that didn't mention them because those flakes cause my daughter's allergies to flare. We asked to have then remade without the flakes and was told they couldn't because everything was pre-made. With disappointment, we returned the dish and decided we would eat somewhere else. The waitress then proceeded to say they could accommodate and make it without the flakes. However, when she brought it back, it was pretty evident, they didn't remake the dish but removed the top portion with the flakes and "re-topped" it. There were still flakes on the plate as well as pieces stuck to the side of the rice. Thankfully, my daughter isn't highly allergic but the staff should be more cautious when it comes to peoples allergies/health. If you don't have kids or family members with allergies, it's a great spot. If you're allergy prone, I would probably avoid this one. SN: Tuna Tartare was tasty. read more
