Wow! I found my new favorite poke bowl place! This little gem of restaurant, hidden among lots of…read morechain restaurants and businesses, has only been here since 2019, so sadly it wasn't here when I lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana growing up here. I needed a healthy dinner after a few days of big eating and was craving a poke bowl. My bf and I were coincidentally only a mile away from here when I Yelped and found one of Fort Wayne's TWO poke places, so it was easy to convince him to get dinner here. The two workers were working HARD fulfilling the orders of the dozens of people who all decided to also get dinner around the same time. But we only waited in line a few minutes and we each got a bowl with one protein ($10.95 each). I chose ahi poke and my boyfriend chose marinated tuna. When I learned that the sky was the limit on how many toppings we could pile on, I was in heaven! I had been burned by poke places in the past limited the number of toppings to just 4-7. So of course, I got 90% of the toppings here at AA Poke haha! The food was also fresh, bright and vibrant, and delicious! After tax and tip, our dinner cost us $25. Us and many, many others in the restaurant left full and happy. I absolutely plan on being a repeat customer of AA Poke every time I am in FW visiting family.

Rest room was also clean. Looks like they have regular customers. Some diners showed up during late lunch 3pm. Including non-asian kids ordering boba drinks. Food was typical. Bowl with rice and choices of protein and some sided. Sauces and side option was limited compared to major Poke restaurant. Food price was decent and fresh. Was bit surprised on fountain drink cost. Overall, it was not bad.

The lunch bento box is straight up hits: a California roll, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, rice and your choice of teriyaki'd protein (chicken, salmon, beef, shrimp or basa, a type of catfish). I chose salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The salmon was placed on top of the rice, so the rice kind of soaked up the teriyaki sauce and made it nice and delicious. My bento lunch came with a cup of miso soup, and it was so nourishing and briny, like only miso soup can be. So yeah. I didn't taste any of the sushi here at Umi, unless you count a California roll, which I don't. But they have lots of different types of rolls, nigiri and hand rolls. Umi also has a large menu of sake. So large, that I thought I would be remiss to not get sake to go with my lunch. The menu made me do it! So I got the chiku bai Nigori sake, and it was so smooth. Sake is served in a small pitcher with a small ceramic cup. I wasn't sure if the sake pitcher was supposed to be shared, but there was only one cup, and there was only one me, so I went for it. A sake buzz during lunch ... how extravagant. I visited for a late lunch, around 1:30 p.m., and I was the only person in the whole place. I got the full attention of the very nice server, who had 20 pens in her apron ("For when it gets busy and it's only me," she said, because I asked her why she has 20 pens in her apron.) The restaurant is tastefully decorated on the inside.

I've also had a business holiday dinner here with a larger group and had a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was just as good, even with a busy restaurant and a larger party. Definitely a great Fort Wayne spot whether you're looking for drinks and happy hour, a nice dinner, or somewhere for a group. I would recommend making reservations for dinner though because this place can get busy! We'll definitely be back!

All the excellent things still exist on a Sunday morning. Same great service and relaxing/casual dining atmosphere. On this Sunday we did not make reservations in advance. I don't know if you really need them or not for Sunday brunch. My wife had the eggs Benedict. She loved the fresh tastes and perfectly cooked eggs. The hollandaise sauce blended all the flavors nicely. She said it had a little kick up it also. I had the chef's special breakfast chorizo burrito. I really liked the brown sauce. The wrapper was soft and easily cut. The chorizo was fairly mild - no spicy kick. The eggs were tender. The fried potatoes provided a nice crisp on the inside.

The restaurant has that classic hibachi atmosphere, the sound of the grills going, and every table gathered around watching the chefs cook right in front of you. There's always something happening, whether it's the flames, the knife tricks, or everyone laughing together. It makes dinner feel more like an experience than just a meal. Our server was super friendly, and our chef was just as great, keeping everyone entertained while cooking. The whole presentation was exactly what I was hoping for, but the real star of the night was the ribeye steak. It was cooked to a perfect medium, with a warm pink center that kept every bite incredibly juicy and tender. The outside had a nice sear, while the inside stayed buttery soft. As the chef cooked it on the flat top, the seasoning and soy sauce caramelized around the meat, creating this rich, savory flavor that coated every bite. It had just the right balance of salt, garlic, butter, and that signature hibachi flavor that keeps you reaching for another piece. The whole experience was a lot of fun, but that ribeye is the reason I'd come back.

They give you a ton of food for the price and their miso soup was excellent (definitely the best part). The Hibachi was tender and well seasoned/flavored, but not the best we've had in town. We'd probably order carry out again, but we do prefer Sakura, Umi, or Kyoto for dine in... Still good/solid Japanese however.
