The food was good. The cook was boring, there was no entertainment for our children, we were in and out of there in 45 minutes. But, the table next to us had ample entertainment. So I recently moved pretty much right next door to this place. .. needless to say I will be probably eating here often. I have been to the other Steakhouses in Methuen, Tewksbury MA and Salem NH and I have to say, this was the best hands down. The inside feel was very comfortable and reminded me of PF Chang's - Kind of a modern twist on the whole Hibachi grill dining. My boyfriend got the fillet and I got the scallops and they both were delicious! (I also got a mai-tai ;) ) The service wasn't anything spectacular but they're always like that. I have to try the sushi though which is also one of my favs, and people have said the sushi here is reeeally good. The fried rice was also the best out of all 4 locations I've been too. Best sushi i've ever eaten, melted in your mouth, no chewing required, that's how tender it was. Did not like how it was dark and it was very hot inside with all those grills going. Also didn't like how you have to sit with other people, it was awkward. Food, stir fries were very bland, all soy sauce tasting. Next day i was so bloated from all the sodium. Waitstaff not very attentive, asked for water 4 times and never got it. I was DYING of thirst and had to drink other family members water. Parking ok, location ok. Never go to this place. They sold my friends money off his credit card and Owen ask my friend to have us Cal the restaurant because she need know proof what happen. We with co workers my co worker Charles went pay bill put on his credit card we told him get the service we going pay cash. The service came back told us that he will take off credit card we have cash for bill and tip. This morning my co worker Charles told me charger his credit card and that they will not give his money back when we pay cash he was told that we need call the owner is rude and will never eat here again. And we got sick on top that from the chicken went to hospital they told me that I have food poison. I try call restaurant but owner never pick or called back so she steal my co worker money and got all sick going report this to health people don't go there if you like money stealing and get sick then go. We just moved back and sadly it seems the place has gone down. It tooks over 10 minutes to hear from a waiter. Finally he came and ordered our food. We got the food and it just wasn't good. With locations in Nashua, NH and Salem, NH Tokyo Steakhouse recently opened a third restaurant in Andover offering the same high quality menu including Teppanyaki grill, sushi bar and lunch options. The service is great, the hostess and wait staff were very friendly and the menu options are plentiful, including vegetarian and low calorie. I had one of their signature dishes, a combination plate with Teppanyaki steak which was delicious. We had shumai, roti(didn't like, not the traditional indian app, more of a scallion pancake) and lots of sushi. The sushi was outstanding, fresh and very generous portions. I would go here again in a heartbeat. Went on a Friday nite and sat in lounge. I think this place is a nightmare family spot as chilren were runnng around but the lounge seemed to be "safe". Not the best hibachi I've had, but not terrible. We went because they had a groupon deal so it was worth it, but probably won't go back unless there's another groupon. Hibachi places usually have this delicious pink sauce but this place doesn't. I probably would have given it 4 stars if they had the pink sauce. I really like going to a Hibachi restaurant for the atmosphere. They are fun and can make for a great place to celebrate a birthday. I would definitely recommend the Tokyo in Andover versus Salem because it is cleaner and has a better atmosphere. The service at either place has always been excellent and welcoming. My only complaint is that food tastes really good going down, but then afterwards the after taste of sodium is extremely strong! The portions are large and I feel the pricing is fair. I would recommend upgrading to the fried rice if you order off the Hibachi menu. read more

Christmas Eve 2016. 5pm easy seating. No wait. The service was efficient and polite. It took a while to receive our drink orders. The soup was decent, salad with ginger dressing was excellent. I had the scallops with shrimp combo and fried rice. Fried rice is an up charge, it comes with white rice. The scallops had the muscle left on. The shrimp were good. The fried rice was good but the veggies were very bland. Our cook was decent, but he didn't seem in to it at all. We had our 2 year old son. Was expecting something more than the usual volcano. The other family had 2 kids with them, I bet they would have liked more tricks too. There wasn't a wait at 5pm and our kid was entertained the whole time. The food was good not great. I have never had the hibachi from Tokyo Steakhouse, but in my opinion the sushi here is the absolute best around! I have been patronizing Tokyo Steakhouse for the last five years or so. The sushi is always fresh and always delicious; no other place in the area comes close. Drinks here are also excellent. Unsure what to order? I recommend the New England Patriot, consistently delicious. The waitstaff here is always on top of their game; very attentive and polite. The place can get busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so plan ahead - food and service here is always worth a bit of a wait though! read more

The sushi isn't the best here, I had better the last time I tried Tokyo. The spicy scallop was very fishy and kind of grossed me out for the rest of the meal & there were too many scallions in the spicy tuna. HOWEVER the fried rice and Hibachi are really good here. Service was OK the food was good. We ordered rice with our meal but they didn't serve it to us until I asked about it. They supplied it but it wasnt the same it was not cooked in front of us and we didn't have it until we had almost finished our meals. I've been here a few times for lunch. It was busy, but the restaurant is large enough to handle a good size crowd. We usually sit in the dining area which is quiet where business banter can be made. My coworker is a big Sushi connoisseur and really likes this place. His Sushi is always is prepared fresh and nicely presented. I got chicken teriyaki which came out hot and everything on my plate came out delicious. They give you a nice variety of dipping sauces. The service was adequate and efficient. This place is pretty mediocre as far as Japanese steakhouses go. The food was good (tastes just like it does at any other place I've been to) The mai tai's we ordered were wicked strong-too strong for me to drink (I was also still in rare form after New Years) and the cooking "show" if you will.....left a lot to be desired. Our chef was very nice and polite, but only one fire disappoints me. The guy cooking behind him wasn't any more entertaining either-and I could see the Grey Goose box that made his hat stand up tall-not cool. Our server was attentive at bringing me the 4 or 5 glasses of water I consumed throughout the night and the bill was the right price. All in all, I'd probably go back here again just because I like the tepanyaki deal and the food was good, but like I've always said-there are so many restaurants in this area, why would you go to the same one twice? read more

Been there quite a few times----I agree that things are salty,especially rice when they pour on the liquid they use but al and all "good food" and the rolls and sushi is pretty dam good. I give them a 4 star and I think they need to tweek a few things to make it a 5 star place. Had never been to this location, after trying a couple in NH. I found this one is easily the best of the bunch. Very dark and contemporary decor with very strong drinks set the mood for a very large meal. I had a chicken and shrimp combo at the hibachi and I found the shrimp in particular to be as tasty as any restaunrant out there. Bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked, I think this chef knows his seafood. I think the chicken was about average however. The Saturday night we went was jam packed with families and loads of children, which was fine by me as my kids enjoyed themselves as well. Plenty of space in this restaurant, very kid friendly, combined with good food...we will be back. read more

We had Shabu Shabu at Tokyo Steakhouse in Chestnut Hill, and it was very good. The chicken broth was excellent, and full of rich flavor. We ordered takeout. The sushi was fresh and clean. The rice was nicely prepared, just as it would be in Japan. My only complaint is that we ordered Toro. Toro is the fatty belly portion of bluefin tuna. What we received was more like a piece of lean tuna, beaten with a mallet, topping a poorly formed rice. You know it is a party when you are the Tokyo Steakhouse. Great seating for all occasions. Oh, the showmanship and artistry of the servers. Oh, the variety of meat and flavor. Oh, the sheer joy of it all. They serve appetizers and drinks like all other places. But the combinations make this place. From lobster, to chicken, to shrimp, scallops, sirloin, filet mignon, you can have just about anything in any combination. The combo plates start at a little over twenty dollars and but are more expensive for the delicacies like lobster and filet mignon. I would go with the Tokyo Tri-Star of sirloin, shrimp, and chicken all cooked to utter perfection for a little under 30 dollars. Good quantities of food and treats to go along with it. The quality of their fresh food cannot be denied. This fine establishment has the best service and a terrific location. If you want to see a great fire show of your food going up in flames like a four alarm fire without any of it burning one bit at all, this is your place. Trust me, you will be mesmerized. Great entertainment for the kids and the kid in us all. You must try this place atleast once. My father used to live being in Tokyo, and now I know why. The food is mediocre but this service is worth zero star if I could. I ordered some noodles. I asked for udon instead of plain noodles. The server didn't inform me of the additional cost and nothing said in the menu as well. After I got the check I went to ask the manager. She said they didn't want to put it on the menu and I was supposed to know about the additional cost. It would be ok for an American to ask this. But as Chinese I was supposed to understand the culture. Which I totally didn't get it. As she was talking, her voice got louder and louder. In the end she threw the menu onto the counter right in front of me. I couldn't believe she was the owner! I had to confirm with the bartender. I've only ordered hibachi combinations from this restaurant, and every time they are spot on.. Fresh veggies, fish, and meat cooked by entertaining hibachi chefs right in front you. In addition to the food, prompt waitstaff that serves potent drinks keep me coming back. Compared to other hibachi restaurants, this restaurant is more "low key".. They do not squeeze the bottle of sake into your mouth from across the grill or attempt to flick veggies into your mouth. Overall, a great spot. read more

I usually come here with several friends. this Japanese steakhouse is probably the best teppanyaki north of Boston ! their shrimp and steak some how taste very tender...love the shrimp appetizer! they have the best dipping sauces on the side... oh ! we also try out the sushi boats! The food is great, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and the presentation is fun. Although it can be considered gimmicky by some, having the food prepared in front of you with a show is entertaining for the whole family. There were, however, some issues. I do not have an exact time for how long everything took, but the service was horrendous. It took what felt like 20 minutes just to get service, then another 20 minutes to get our drinks. They turned on the stove in front of us, but it took them so long to come actually cook anything that we all literally felt like we were burning. I ordered a second drink before the chef even came out to make the food, but did not receive it until after i was finished eating. I understand it is not easy being a server, but there were two waitresses and a chef working our table and all of them had constant excuses as to why things were taking so long. I get stuff happens, but after comparing my experiences with other reviews i am reading, it seems more like a constant problem than simply a busy night. read more

So i have been here multiple times a year over the course of several years. But recently their customer service has left a lot of room for improvement. It seems they are so busy they cannot handle the flow of people. We had shown up here to eat over the weekend and was told it would be a half hour wait. After an hour we were still not seated! Turns out they were taking reservations over the phone, giving them priority, and not even telling us! Guy at the front desk was very rude, and AFTER we were seated told us to get up because they made a mistake.
