Lunch review. Solo dinning. Comfortable and enjoyable. If you don't order an appetizer like me, it would also be affordable. Good location, lovely interior. This place would be great for a casual lunch or a date night or a big party for family and friends on a birthday. Lunch review wise, as a solo diner, I couldn't have been more welcome and more relaxed. I often go to have lunch on my own when I'm doing errands and some places will frown or hurry up a solo diner. The majority of people in the dining room were in their own. The crab Rangoon's are some of the best I've ever had. The hibachi lunch was good. The fried rice was fresh. The vegetables came out very hot. The only drawback would be that my steak was obviously cooked before my vegetables so it didn't come out piping hot, but that's a me thing. All the sushi on the menu and the ones I saw come out to the tables looked amazing. I will go back and give their sushi a try. I cannot express how friendly and welcoming the staff was to everyone that came into their establishment. For that alone, I would frequent this place if I lived close by. read more

Love this new Japanese steakhouse in Powell. Powell has a lot of fast food, and the restaurant selection is getting a little stale. A good sit down Hibachi & Sushi Japanese restaurant in Powell - not going out to Clinton Hwy, not just a Togo Chinese restaurant, is very welcome in my book. The food is actually good, taste is top notch. It's a little more expensive than some other established places in the surrounding area but this place tastes better, presentation is on point, and they are new, so I get why it's a couple dollars more. They have sit down tables, teppanyaki grills for a show, and sushi bar. It's bigger on the inside than it looks. It's fairly quiet, modern, and clean. Service has been top notch so far. Our server treated us well with some extras. 2nd time here already. The nigiri sushi was prepared perfectly and the fish was stored properly, cut well, presented beautifully, and tasted great. The maki sushi (rolls) tasted really great - if your into rolls they are great tasty, jam packed with all kinds of goodness. The hibachi was great, great flavors, cooked well and in my opinion better than some of the other restaurants in the surrounding area that have been there awhile. Yes, there is an extra charge for the fried rice, I don't care, the food was good so worth it in my book. Support our local restaurants here in Powell! read more

Came here recently for a visit for dinner now that it's officially open and running! The location is a prime spot off the emory exit with plenty of parking. The staff delivered for an overall good experience. We did have one snafu with the sushi taking a bit but the delay was owned appropriately and handled as expected. We sat at a grill and had a great experience with the waiter and chef that made everything. There were a couple kids at our table and the chef was very accommodating, even heating up some of the teriyaki sauce on the grill before he put the extra on their place (nice touch). The food experience was good overall - in fact, it was the first time we've been at a hibachi place that featured lobster as part of the options - we took a chance on it and it didn't disappoint. Aside from the delay the sushi was great once we got it! The only quirk that I observed that affected my experience was the chairs used at the grill - they are pretty short compared to the height of the grill...so if you have littles I'd definitely ask for a booster seat. For the short folks out there you may end up switching to a booth if that's more comfortable to sit. We will be back! Go try it out and I'll be interested to hear how it went for you. We just moved here and we're so tired from unpacking. I was hungry for sushi. My partner ordered half the menu and it did not disappoint. Seriously good food. We tried several of the special rolls and I had the Katsu chicken. Everything was fresh and delicious. We loved the stuffed jalapeño poppers the leftovers the next day or just as good. We visited Tokyo Sushi and Steakhouse in Powell for their soft opening and it was terrific. Our Server Jay was as very attentive and friendly and she was also quite knowledgeable about the menu. The fish used in the sushi was fresh and seemed very high quality. The presentation was wonderful as well. We will definitely be back and the dinner surpassed expectations of a Sushi Restaurant that's housed in what looks like a log cabin. Haha read more

We live close by and decided to finally stop in and check this place out. And I'm VERY glad we did. Immediately upon walking in we noticed the atmosphere. Very high-end modern feel, perfect lighting, and comfortably quiet in the booth area. There is also a hibachi section you can choose to sit in which is much better for someone looking for some entertainment and excitement with their dinner. The service was perfect. McKenzie was our server and she was very polite, helpful, and attentive. She offered some suggestions as well as explained a few things on the menu we had questions about. We tried the spicy edamame, crab rangoons, and spring rolls for our appetizers. Each one of them was outstanding. The spring rolls were so good we had to order another serving. We were in the mood for sushi, so we ended up trying the Ying Yang roll, the King Crab roll, and the New York roll. They were all delicious as well but MY GOD -- CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE NEW YORK ROLL? I never knew steak belonged thinly sliced atop a roll of sushi but today I learned. Sushi will never be the same for me. Apologies for the long-winded review but it is very rare that I have such an impressive experience. I haven't had food this good since I've been here I go there all the time there's specials during the weekdays are great, but the main thing is anything you order there is so good and they make up the most beautiful dishes with the dry ice just absolutely beautiful. Look it up and look at their pictures and that's another thing. Anything you order you have a picture of it instead of just looking at it it's so good. I will go there forever. read more

The best sushi spot I have tried so far in Knoxville. The quality is great, the sizes of the rolls are large ( they do not skimp). They have variety and I love that their menu has photos of the rolls. The prices for sushi are very affordable, especially for the size. I have only one thing negative to say, but I do not wanna take a star off because that's how much I want them to succeed, but they really need to get good servers. The service there SUCKS. As soon as they take your order and drop the food off, they legit disappear. First time was the soft opening and it was busy, so I will give it to the server then that it was extremely busy, and they were backed up on a wait. The last two times I had to go searching for my server. The server legit went on break and we were done eating and didn't drop the check and didn't let us know, just left. We had to pay at the front counter. The last time I went, (again this was at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday) dropped our food off and disappeared. We finished 3 rolls and wanted to order more and waited 30 mins, asked multiple people and then finally he showed up. This place has so much potential because the food really is excellent, but I hope they really get some good servers in there so they don't go out of business. read more

I don't normally leave reviews, but this is our second time eating here. Both times we have been sat in the party room away from everything and seem to always be forgotten. This second time we sat for about 10 minutes before being greeted and asked about drinks. When finally asked I ordered mine and the server started walking away before my girlfriend could. Not that big of a deal okay move on. After finally being able to order. We wait about another 15 -20 minutes expecting our soup and salad as you would assume those come first. My girlfriend's drink did not arrive until after we got our food. The hibachi was brought out before soup and salad. And sushi came out 15-20 minutes after eating our main meal... the whole time everyone around us was getting their food faster constantly being asked if they needed anything, but for some reason we did not have the same experience as others two time in a row. Once we are ready to leave I ask the server for a box and the check, in which he VERY quickly responds to and brings back immediately. There was no detailed receipt show what exactly I had paid for which came out To $90. I don't even get a second to think about the check I had received before the server came back looking for my card. I told him to come back so I could pull it out. And immediately he returns ready for us to leave. This was top three worst dining experiences I've had. The other two were ruby Tuesday and TGIF. You can imagine house those went. Not sure how a brand new restaurant got on that list but it is. Will not ever return here. Thanks for a terrible experience read more

A commercialized Japanese restaurant. Nothing we ordered had a good taste. Very bland. Sushi not good but not horrible, spicy edamame was just under boiled warm edamame with no real spicy seasoned taste. Even their salad was not good, I could have made better ginger dressing than what was on it. Go to Sora's In Clinton. Authentic Japanese food run by the family. Our party had steak hibachi with white rice, veggie hibachi with fried rice, and a crazy crab sushi roll. We will return, and are glad to have this lovely option in our area. I was so excited to try the crab Rangoons at Tokyo Steak & Sushi -- visions of creamy, crabby goodness danced in my head. Unfortunately, what arrived was... well... air. Three of my "crab Rangoons" looked like this -- empty, hollow, soulless triangles of fried nothingness. It was basically a wonton chip auditioning for a solo career. Now, if they were going for "abstract interpretation of crab Rangoon," then bravo -- nailed it. But for those of us expecting, you know, crab or even filling, it kinda defeats the purpose. Our waiter must've joined the witness protection program because we barely saw him all night, so by the time we could've mentioned it, we were already ready to pack it in and go solve the mystery ourselves. On the bright side, the water was cold and the lighting was flattering, so there's that. read more

The regular hibachi steak was very chewy, tough, and was a little meaty/gamey. Probably the worst steak I've ever had at a hibachi restaurant. Maybe a bad night? Won't go back to find out. Hibachi was way overpriced. Smaller portion sizes for the price. $3 up charge for fried rice is ridiculous because all they add is an egg. it only gets two stars cause the food is good. the wait is atrocious there is no communication. we were told 30 minutes and ended up waiting 1.5 hrs. they kept just saying 15 more minutes. when asked why the wait kept getting longer it was cause there were reservations that kept coming in. we were not told there were a lot of reservations and that it wouldn't be long instead turned into a long wait. I would not of tried to eat here if I had been told about the wait or that there were a lot of reservations. so if you can call ahead and/or go on a non busy night your probably fine otherwise avoid this place. read more
