    Sushi night at home
    Tanisha S.

i've been eating here for the last nine years. When I worked closer to Tampa, we would eat here multiple times a week. They have the best sushi in Tampa and the most amazing service. when I first started eating here the owners kids were so small and now they've gotten so big. I love seeing all of them work as a family. All of the sushi is made to perfection, and they offer other appetizers and entrées

This was my first time visiting this location, they had a variety of sushi and everything tasted so fresh and good. We order several different kind Godzilla Rolls, California Rolls etc. The person at the front door greeted us he was friendly and so was the waitress. The wait only lasted about 5 mins and food started rolling in. Overall its a great experience a small restaurant nive little ambiance to eat with a family or a few friends that live sushi

    3 roll special

Right next to a planet fitness, convenient post workout meal, with of parking space outside too. Great lunch specials. Ordered 3 rolls, miso soup and salad for under $15. Spicy tuna Spicy salmon Tuna- avocado roll Spacious inside and clean. Empty when we came, but it was thanksgiving day... I imagine it's busy otherwise. Order took a little longer than expected for two people. Sushi was good, not phenomenal, but good.

Angel roll and spicy tuna roll

I love this little place. I've been here a few times with my husband and their sushi is always delicious and service is always pleasant. I came in today for lunch and ordered their lunch special - 2 rolls for 9.95 and this included salad and miso soup. You can also do 3 rolls for 12.95. I ordered the spicy tuna and angel roll. The angel roll has cooked tuna and the roll is fried. I actually thought it would be raw tuna and outside fried. I'm not a fan of cooked tuna but this one was not bad if you prefer cooked sushi rolls! Their crab Rangoon roll is the best! I honestly forgot about it during my visit today and was sad I didn't order it! Next time! COVID: The employees all wear masks and they kept all guests with one table between everyone.

Volcano roll with salmon lava, very tasty

Went here for lunch with my daughter. It's located in the shopping center on the corner of 56th and Fowler in Temple Terrace. They have a pretty good lunch special for $8.99. You get a choice of 2 rolls plus soup and salad, or 3 rolls, for $11.99. I chose the 3 roll deal, selecting a volcano roll, eel, and spicy crunchy tuna, and ordered seaweed salad instead of the regular salad. The volcano roll was delicious, and the 'lava' was surprisingly a large and tasty serving. The other two rolls were average, but enjoyable. I could only eat half the rolls after the soup (fairly plain) and seaweed salad, (very good and a generous serving) so I took the rest home. Enjoyable.

    Mussel appetizer

I normally don't like giving sushi places low ratings. But being an avid sushi connoisseur, and seeing the great ratings for this place (plus the convenience of it being so close to home), I had to give this place a try. And...I was incredibly disappointed. The wait alone was over an hour. Granted they were busy, which is normally a good sign. I ordered online, and after the order I chose the text option so they text you when the order is ready. Cool! Well...after 45 min I decided to call to check in. The phone line was busy, so after 55 min wait mark, I got through. I was told 20 more min because the mussels take 20 min to bake. Wow... After 25 min I had to call again because nobody texted or called to tell me my food was ready. My bf and I head back home super hungry and excited to try. We got 4 rolls, mussels, avocado boat and takoyaki. Here's where the fun begins: Extra charge for the sauces. Thats fine, but we had no napkins, and there was no Wasabi or ginger with our meal. Worst takoyaki I've ever had. Undercooked, super mushy and soggy. Only 3 balls in an order of $4.95 Avocado boat was also sad...very mushy. Tasteless. The mussels were done well. I give those a plus! The 4 sushi rolls....terrible. We REALLY tried to love them. But there was one common theme involving all the food besides being mushy. Everything was BLAND. So bland! The rice isn't seasoned AT ALL. All the rolls tasted the same, no flavor. No kick. Nothing stood out. We got 2 rolls that looked exactly the same minus one or 2 ingredients. They both tasted plain. I spent $80 that night on food that had absolutely no taste and was soggy. Hard pass on this place, sorry. ‍

Delicious food and friendly service. Went for lunch today and had the oshumash soup, seaweed salad, crazy roll, and mango spicy tuna roll. This was my first time trying oshumash and I really enjoyed it. The sushi was also fresh and tasty! I'm so happy to find a great sushi place so close to home.

This is the delicious volcano roll. The stuff on top is like a bread crumb overall super delicious.

Good food and family owned. My favorite sushi place in temple terrace! I recommend the avocado boat appetizer.

Please note that most of the parking around them is owned by 717 parking, and if you don't have the app, you may need to find alternative parking. Thank goodness I did, not too far away from the shop. It's a Saturday afternoon, and I think that played a reason why I managed. The owner tells me that the parking outside the seafood shop is legit too, and I'm keeping that in my pocket as well. Anyway, enough about my soapbox about parking, because this review is not about that. Cafe Hey's aesthetic and style speaks to me about indie coffeehouses from back in the day, as back in my day as a college student. Worn aged bookshelves with paperbacks and games. Brick walls. Off-beat artwork for sale adorning said walls. Comfy chairs scattered around the space giving it an intimate yet private feel. It reminds me of a time when restaurants and indie shops had more character and were unique with their own identity, before corporate took over and homogenized and sterilized everything. This place screams me, and I'm so thankful to be able to come back. The owner was very gracious and kind and listened to me vent about the parking for a little bit before giving me that tidbit about the other legit spots. For my drink I got the Gorilla Hug, which combines flavor of hazelnut, almond, banana and chocolate, lots of foam, and is drizzled with more chocolate. I got this hot with whole milk. Oh man, the flavor is a big WIN for me. Cozy, yet almost refreshing with the almond and banana flavor, which works very very well. The day wasn't too hot at all, so it really hit the spot. The last time I was here, I remember getting Turkey in the Grass. This sandwich as the name suggests as turkey, cucumber, greens, and cream cheese, nestled together in perfectly tender yet crisp Cuban bread (from La Segunda???). This sandwich was very satisfying, yet incredibly light and wouldn't weigh you down. The turkey is tender and fresh, and the cucumber and cream cheese combo gives it a flavor that is reminds of the Tasty Turkey sandwiches I used to love at Einstein Bros bagels when I was a college student. Even the shop ITSELF is worth a visit, as I came for food and drink, but stayed for art. Once again, the cool independent art vibe taking me back when I was younger. The folks here are friendly, too, and I felt welcomed and at home. Hopefully I won't wait another 9 years go come back.

The area surrounding the restaurant is beautiful and makes for a great place to walk around and explore. Once inside, the atmosphere is just as impressive, and thankfully the food, drinks, and service live up to the hype. My dad and I started with the Gator Tail appetizer. Neither of us had ever tried alligator before, so we were really curious to see what it was like. Turns out, we loved it! It tastes surprisingly similar to chicken and was a fun way to try something new. For our mains, my dad ordered their famous Meatloaf, and after trying a bite, we completely understand why it's one of their signature dishes. It was excellent. I went with Barry's Tomahawk Pork Chop, and it was outstanding. The pork was cooked perfectly; juicy, tender, and not dry whatsoever. The real star, though, was the guava demi-glace, which added such a unique and delicious flavour to the dish. The beer selection was great too. I especially enjoyed the Wedding Beer Berry Lager, which was refreshing and packed with flavour. We also saved room for dessert. We tried the Candied Maple Bacon Ice Cream and the Bourbon Butter Cake. The ice cream wasn't really my favourite; I thought the cornflakes were a bit of a strange addition, but my dad enjoyed it. The Bourbon Butter Cake, on the other hand, was delicious and a great way to finish off the meal. Between the beautiful setting, excellent food, great drinks, and friendly service, it's easy to see why Ulele is such a popular Tampa destination. Paul's is a truly marvelous establishment and its size ( there are probably 10-12 tables) is very NY. Small and intimate but what comes forth from the kitchen is pure magic. The cuisine is an Asian fusion- that word "fusion" is used a lot these days sometimes a bit much, but Paul's can use whatever words they choose because the food is delicious. We started with the chicken satay, and crispy spring rolls. The satay was delightful and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The spring rolls are def made in house- no frozen spring rolls here, and very tasty. I ordered the Pad Thai- with chicken and shrimp at a medium spice level. All I can say is- WOW, just WOW! By far the best Pad Thai I have had in Tampa in 11 years. The subtle flavors coupled with the mild - yet striking spice was a carnival of excitement in my mouth. The chicken was tender was was the shrimp- the noodles cooked to perfection and the dish was NOT wet- it was perfectly seasoned and was accompanied by a Thai chili vinegar on the side and pepper flakes to add a bit more spice- if I had fancied that. Well, I did. Not because it wasn't seasoned as I had asked, but because I decided to add a little more kick! Our server was just lovely- attentive, helpful and always there when we needed her- always checking to be sure we were ok. The time from kitchen to table is perfect- yet there is no rush, the restaurant just wants to be sure you are enjoying yourself! We topped the evening off with a slice of coconut cream pie- fabulous!! Our experience with Paul's won't be our last.
