First time at Wagamama and we had a great experience. We were in the area for a show and stopped in for dinner without a reservation. They seated us outside right away. Service took a little while since they were busy, but Ana was fantastic once she got to us. We started with drinks (a Yuzu cocktail and a classic Old Fashioned) and even ordered dessert first -- the Banana Eggrolls. Huge location located off of Water Street in downtown Tampa. I think what the menu and what they actually offer are two different renditions. I'm not sure if it's due to budgeting or just incorrectly made, read the following description and look at the food app. "Delicious crispy rice bites topped with ahi tuna, Yuzu ponzu, avocado mousse, chili mayo, Yuzu zest + green onions" None of that is correct or featured. The photo on their website does not match either. True stars of the show: The Bao Buns. It's where it's at. These certainly hit the mark and were quite delicious. I've been wanting to check this place out for a few years and finally made it there! It has great indoor and outdoot seating. Wagamama is super stylish, but also casual. It was a nice evening, so we chose outdoors. We started off with a few drinks. I had a Ube Espresso Martini and it was 10/10. Would drink this everyday. Lol. My husband had a fresh juice drink w Calamansi (his favorite fruit). He's still talking about it. We had a few apps including the Tokyo Fries, Aji Tuna Nachos and Chili Calamari. Both were crispy and very tasty. For entrees mu husband had a tofu dish that we can't find on the menu...must have been a special. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that my food never came out. We came here after a hockey game. The dining area eventually got very packed, but we were able to snag some bar seating. The bar seating is nice. It's very secluded. It feels very personable. The staff are very attentive to your needs. They're very quick with ordering and delivering the check. The bathrooms are fairly clean, and the drinks are pretty good as well. read more

Wagamama was pretty good when we tried it a few weeks ago! The inside is very casual, upbeat, but the seating is very tight and uncomfortable. Most of the seats do not have backs on them and if you get sat in a booth, it is extremely tight. They tried to sit four of us there and that did not work out, it's really meant for two people! The food was overall very good. I had the chicken Ramen and we also did the chicken yakisoba noodles which was delicious. The drinks were pretty good as well! Our server was very nice when we moved tables, but our original Server was quite interesting. Coming up yawning right away while trying to talk at the same time. Great looking restaurant on a perfect location in downtown Tampa. I was really looking forward to it since I had a few friends that had told us about it. For a party of 12 celebrating both Mother's Day and my wife's birthday, it honestly felt disappointing and a bit neglectful from the start. We had specifically mentioned the celebrations ahead of time, yet there was no acknowledgment or anything done to make the occasion feel special. On top of that, the flow of service was very disorganized -- several entrees arrived before the appetizers, and the Pad Thai came out after nearly everyone had already finished eating. Again, the food itself was good and the atmosphere was nice, which makes this even more unfortunate because the experience had a lot of potential. Thoroughly enjoyed me experience at Wagamma. First, I love the location. It's located in Water Street- which is a super modern, clean area in downtown Tampa. The food was amazing. My friend and I each got a different juice- which they press in-house with fresh ingredients. I got the Beet juice which was tangy, fragrant and smooth. I got the Steak Bulgogi which was extremely flavorful. The sirloin, chopped green onions, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, brown sugar and rice blended together perfectly. No one attempted to mop it up it was just left and patrons had to step in the puddle to grab the barstool seats. Needless to say that wasn't an option for our part of two-we were redirected to the ramen bar. Please fix the leaky fridge it's very unpleasant. This place has an open kitchen concept all chefs are working to deliver hot food and fulfill all orders, they appear organized and ready for the hustle and bustle as this place gets busy. Really nice restaurant in the water st district. It's right across from the Tamp Edition Marriott Hotel. If you're looking for a quick bite in between shopping, this is a great find. Came in for dinner on a quiet night and while the food came out quickly after ordering, the overall experience felt a bit underwhelming. We started with the Balance juice, which had a nice blend of flavors but was served room temperature. A few ice cubes would have made it much more refreshing, especially considering the warm setting of a ramen dinner. For our main, we ordered the ramen (photo attached), which arrived hot and visually appealing. The broth had good depth of flavor, and the noodles were cooked well - it was solid. Despite the restaurant being slow, it took a noticeable amount of time to be greeted, seated, and checked on. We weren't the only table with delays--several guests around us were clearly waiting a while to be greeted and to receive their dessert. The servers were kind when they did stop by, but the pacing felt off the entire evening. We also did not finish our juice and wanted it to go but they did not have appropriate to-go cups to take the juice. Great atmosphere, great service and great food!! We love their bar menu and have enjoyed baos, (puff sandwiches) and gyozas, (dumplings)! During their Happy Hour, (Monday to Fridays: 3-6pm); we have shared their Tuna Tataki and Chili Calamari. Yum!!! We have also enjoyed their outdoor seating for dinner, which is quite relaxing and entertaining at the same time. For dining, we prefer their rice dishes and have tried Spicy Tuna and Beef Brisket, (Tuna is my favorite!); although my husband enjoys Ramen with Chili Shrimp and Kimchi being his favorite. We also ordered special juices. Those were super fresh and tasty. Overall great concept, amazing modern ambiance with lots of space. Menu is very large and lots of things to try. However, food was not amazing. Also when we got food, server didn't even bring a container for us for waste after edamame. We also didn't get utensils. This was our second time at Wagamama and it didn't disappoint. Funny enough, we ended up sitting at the same exact table as last time, totally by chance! We shared the Tokyo fries and tried two different ramens. I had the chicken ramen, which was super flavorful but still felt light and simple. The broth was great and the veggies added the right amount of texture without overpowering anything. My husband got the Kare Barosu ramen, it was definitely spicier than I expected, so not really my thing, but he loved it. Service was awesome as always. You know children are very honest especially ours for we travel a lot so we know AMAZING food. They were happy with the drinks (orange juice). My wife had the chicken pad thai, wasn't a fan it tasted bland and chicken was also dried. I myself decided to indulge in the smaller options. First I ordered the mushroom panko eggplant bao, I will say these were good a must try. What I learn throughout my years of writing reviews and visiting these establishments. You can dress your restaurants with elegance and fancy decors. But if that kitchen isn't intact with the proper chefs then the ship starts to sink slowly. Maybe even reivents itself with a new name or new owner. However you decide a decision has to be made. Do we look fancy and see how long we last or do we fix the problem within. We had lunch before exploring Tampa, it was my first here and the fam love this so much. I ordered beef brisket ramen and I didn't know it was spicy but even though it was spicy. It was really good, so much flavor busting and I got the original milktea to down the spicy. The karage chicken was different I had, it was tender and crispy. I dip it with the ramen sauce and turns out good! The rest of the family enjoyed their food and it was fulfilling. The service was so patient to wait for us to decide.
