I came here one day on a whim, but since my first visit ive been a regular here at least once a week. The prices are very reasonable and they use really high quality products. The ambiance inside is really calm and its a great place to go with friends or study by yourself. I always get the sushi lunch box off their lunch menu and the sushi and sashimi dinner off the dinner menu and it's always amazing!!! Also make sure to get the ginger tea! As a sushi consumer for more than 40 years I seldom hesitate to try a place that is new to me. Quite often I walk out once I see the selection in the counter box. If what I see pleases me or I notice something special, I will stay. What attracted me was a chalkboard that listed Sweet Shrimp and a couple types of fish belly. I also noticed a specialty roll that I found very intriguing. When they told me the shrimp included the head, I was hooked. Their Toro was just ok. $15 for a couple small slices, not something I would order again. The Salmon Belly I liked much better, silky smooth with generous cuts. The star was the Sweet Shrimp. A succulent and tasty treasure that almost melted in my mouth. The crunchy head battered and cooked to perfection. As is customary, I tried the Tempura Shrimp and liked it as well. A very light batter, just a tad oily, that lets you experience the shrimp flavor. A different version that I found appealing. I did not try the roll I wanted because I was full. A complimentary Miso Soup and Spring Roll were a nice touch. The service was very good, they were patient, helpful, attentive and friendly throughout. I will be coming back. What a disappointment this place was given the great reviews I saw. I went with a friend and ordered a tempura lunch box. All they brought was miso soup,, shrimp tempura, and white rice... That's it. When I asked where the rest of my order was, the server went in the back for a couple minutes, presumably looking at the order and realized her mistake. She came back to the table, only to tell me that she can't change the order now since they gave me more shrimp than my original order had. She said I could pay for each of the items I was supposed to get in my whole order à la cart if I wanted it, which I declined. She came back to the table and said that she would be happy to give me a side salad for free. I declined that as well. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, the place was pretty slow. We were the only ones seated. The restaurant is located in the plaza with the Michael's. Service was good and was not slow. Decided to try the pot stickers and spicy tuna roll. Pot stickers came pretty quickly and were cooked well, very delicious. The sushi rolls then came later and I tried the spicy tuna. To be honest, I don't think it was very good. Hard to explain the taste. I also tried the eel and crab roll my friend ordered and they were good. I would come back and try something other than sushi next time. The prices are very affordable! Restaurant was clean and the staff was nice. Edit: The owner saw my review and came to speak to me about my experience with the tuna roll. He was very nice and you could tell he was very passionate about his business, wanting to explain and ask more about my experience. He said he would take it off the bill but I insisted to pay for it. This used to be my go to sushi restaurant because it was the most affordable and also tastes very good. It was very quick and the employees are very friendly. They even offer curbside pickup which is really convenient. However, after many years of eating here and recommending it, I do not think I will be returning. The prices are always increasing, $5 rolls are now $5.50, not a big deal, but there are less options at this price and most have actually gone up to $7. Other items have increased in price as well. It is also a dollar for each sauce, which I have never seen at other sushi restaurants in the area. The low price is what kept me coming back because the quality is just not there. The rolls always fall apart and they just don't have much taste anymore. The tuna tar tar seemed like it wasn't fresh, and although the rangoons do taste very good, they are filled with mostly air. The last few times I've ordered to go or through food delivery, my order has been incorrect. Several times now they have forgotten a roll I ordered and have given me two of the same one instead, just given me a completely different item, or they have forgotten the sauces that cost extra. Although it isn't terrible and I did used to enjoy coming here, unless I see some changes, there are much better quality spots within minutes of here. I am saddened by it and hate to say negative things about a place that was once my favorite, but I do think more care should be put into their service and if the price increases then so should the quality. read more

This is my favorite restaurant on N Dale Mabry. The lunch choices are varied, with a broad variety of sushi, Japanese and Thai dishes (though the curries have been my go-to). I like that I can get brown rice instead of white. Minimal upcharges, too. Despite rising costs everywhere, they've managed to maintain fair pricing without compromising their quality. I appreciate it when I notice a business NOT gouging when they clearly could. Along with the quality of the food, I really enjoy the calm atmosphere. I would rate the food about 3.5 so I rounded the total review up to 4 stars because I enjoyed my food and I would go back here. We are there every other week and he knows us by name as rest of his regular customers. His rolls are fabulous and innovative. He offers Thai dishes as well as Hibachi. All amazing and better than Kobe's My family ate here last night without me as I was not feeling well. My husband and I were looking for a new sushi restaurant to try, and our friend suggested trying Ahi Asian Bistro. It's located off of Dale Mabry, in the Michaels shopping plaza. The inside of the restaurant is clean and cozy. Our visit was pre-COVID, and it is a romantic place for a date. Their sushi menu will wow the most seasoned sushi eater. My husband and I were blown away by the freshness of their fish and the variety of rolls available to order. The owner and staff are very courteous and attentive. When we asked questions, our server helped us or went to the chef for clarification. We started our meal with a Seaweed Salad, since that is my husband's favorite side dish to go with sushi. We also ordered the Sea Scallop Delight Nigiri, which is sea scallop prepared in a creamy mayo sauce, topped with roe and served without rice on cucumber. I love the decadence of creamy scallop, and the serving is more than generous for the price. Their traditional rolls can be made into handrolls, so we ordered the following: - Salmon Skin Handroll: crispy fried salmon skin, carrots and cucmber. This is my husband's favorite handroll and he loved the crunch on it. This handroll is best eaten right away for maximum crunch. - Philly: krab, cream cheese and avocado. - Spicy Tuna: marinated spicy tuna with cucumber. We also ordered full sized rolls from the 3 for $30 Special - You can choose 3 special rolls for $30 all day, every day! The three we chose were: - Volcano Roll: an avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber roll topped with baked krab and roe on top. Many places make volcano rolls, but Ahi Asian Bistro perfected the baked krab on top. It's not too creamy and it doesn't overload the roll underneath. Love this roll! - Crunchy Salmon Roll: no rice, salmon, avocado, asparagus, and snow crab mix, then panko fried and topped with sweet chili sauce. This is a good cooked sushi roll for those who don't prefer to eat raw fish. The panko adds a light crunch to the outside and the inside is not dried out. - Rainbow Roll: a krab and cucumber roll topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, escolar, and avocado. This roll has clean flavor throughout. This is a great introductory roll for new sushi eaters and has a nice variety of fish on it. We also received free veggie rolls when you check-in on Yelp. Great bang for your buck. Honestly surprised our bill came to $32 when we got so much stuff. We got the wontons which were alright not the best . If you check in thru Yelp you get a free egg roll by the way. The inside is small but very ambient and great for date night. I also had the Tom kha soup which I've had better but it was refreshing still. We had a couple of rolls which I forget but one of them was avocado roll and shrimp tempura. Today I went into this establishment and was asked to prove that my dog was a service animal. Which I did, I showed her ID & walked out. This was an empty establishment when I walked in and the first thing I was greeted with is this an order to go.? Not are you dining with ask and may we ask is that a service animal. I was never offered a seat and continue walking to towards the back. The lady who asked if it was to go also pointed me to the QR code so I can scan menu. At this point I was made feel uncomfortable at this place, I asked am I not allowed to eat here, which is when I was asked for proof of my animal being a service animal. Not if she was and if it was for medical reason. As a restaurant owner, you and your employees should know what questions you can, and cannot ask of a service animal owner. I will no longer come to this place, and for those who have service animals I would advise you to stay away. It was soooo delicious. I ordered with a spice level of mild but I feel like this dish can take heat so I will probably do hot next time. Update to my original review: I visited from 4 months ago. I did visit again on March 3rd, 2022. I had a Thai salad with duck, uni, and anago. Oh my!! The uni just melted in my mouth. Soy sauce with the anago was the perfect blend of umami. Why 5 stars? Because the menu is giant and the quality is great. --- --- --- I booked this spot a while ago because it had a very strong 4.5 star rating and is close to my house. But recently, I noticed that 4.5 upticked to 5 stars overall, so I knew I had to make it a priority to stop in. We did so today and were very impressed. We started off with wanting one sushi roll. I couldn't decide which one to go with when our server suggested an off-menu roll called the Roger Roll (named after the owner.) All I really remember from her description was crab with a bunch of other stuff that sounded good, so I was sold. It came out with a bunch of thin, fried... tentacles on top? Not sure how else you'd describe them, but they were delicious and added a nice crunch. We tried to fatty tuna sashimi next and this was the only unfortunate miss for us. When we visited Tokyo, we loved getting fatty tuna as much as possible, but this was nothing like it. It was warmed and I guess pretty cooked? It didn't really even taste like tuna. I'd avoid this in the future. Both of our main courses were excellent: pad thai and crispy chicken cashew nut. The pad Thai was a tad sweeter than normal. Our server said she doesn't normally like pad Thai but does like their version - I could understand why. It wasn't wildly different than normal pad Thai, but just a couple ticks tastier than usual. And the crispy chicken cashew nut was also very enjoyable. We finished with coconut ice cream and mango with sticky rice for dessert. The mango stick rice was fine, but the coconut ice cream stole the show. Also, our 15 month old acted as if it was the best thing he'd ever had in his young life. For the majority of the time, we were the only customers in here, but we did arrive about 2 minutes after they opened on a Sunday afternoon.
