Went to dinner with my family on a Tuesday evening. Our server was Linda (or at least I believe that was her name). She seemed friendly at first, but unfortunately our experience quickly went downhill. My husband ordered a ramen dish that never arrived. We waited quite a while, assuming it would be brought out, but no one ever checked in on our table. This seems to match other reviews mentioning a lack of staff awareness and attention to customers. The staff appeared to only come by to take orders and drop off checks. We were even seated near the register, yet no one noticed that an entire meal was missing. When it was time to pay, another employee helped us. We had to point out that the ramen never came and ask for it to be removed from the bill. His response was simply, "Sorry about that, let me take it off. Here's your total." There was no real sense of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and customer service is what made this experience so disappointing. Staff could benefit from additional customer service training and more awareness of their guests' needs. I am not comparing this to Nobu quality, but will compare it to other small sushi places. Now lets continue with the review: The Salmon Handroll was very good, the salmon tasted nice and fresh and the size was very generous. I would recommend to get this. The Alaska roll was a great size, generous salmon slices, and good flavor. There is a good amount of sauce and some like that more than others so keep that in mind. I'd recommend to order this. The Spicy Ramen was a great size and has a great kick to it. The overall flavor is pretty similar to one of the ramen packets and the noodles are the same as well. I personally really enjoy that, gives me nostalgia and tastes great. If you order this don't expect some super quality ramen, but it tastes really good and it's hard to find a nice simple basic ramen like this and most places. I would recommend to order this. The ambiance is nice and casual, food came out quick, and staff is very friendly and attentive. This is a locally owned place which I always try to support and the give free ice cream after. It's a little pricey but I found it really filling and not overly stuffed with rice. I'm giving it 5 stars because the guy who took my order really accommodated my vegetarian diet. I mostly go to sushi places because my husband loves it. It's not the best place to not eat fish! lol. But I really enjoyed my veggie rolls. A friend recommended this spot and we came after church. Wow a hidden gem. We came during happy hour which was a plus. I got their poke bowl and oh my WOW the portion was huge and fish was fresh and delicious I got the salmon and spicy tuna combined . My hometown got to spot for sushi! My sister and I decided to have lunch here during my lunch break. Luckily they had Happy Hour during that time so it was even better! We walked in and were seated right away. As it was Friday afternoon it wasn't busy. We normally order about the same go to food items: 1. Salmon Hand Rolls: they always stuff the rolls with big chunks of salmon 2. Salmon Sushi: nice big cut of sashimi on top of a decent size portion of rice 3. Role Poly: the two pieces were huge! 4. Garlic Edamame: serving size was quite a bit but I loved it! 5. Cucumber Salad: serving size never disappoints, also refreshing with all the other dishes. 6. Takoyaki: good size portion! 7. Fried Tofu: my favorite food item to order, soft and flavorful with the sauce! Everything came out really quick and fresh! Servers would come by ever so often to check up on us and to clear out empty plates. At the end of our meal they ask if you would like complimentary ice cream, and they tell you which flavors they have for that day. Both my sister and I went with Cookies and Cream. Best time to come here is during Happy Hour: Monday-Thursday all day and from 11a-5p Friday-Sunday. All the staff are attentive and friendly. When it's a weeknight or weekend they are always busy. This is my sister's go-to sushi spot and now I totally get why. Great service, generous portions, and seriously good food? That's the trifecta. There were seven of us, and we got seated almost right away in the back where they have bigger tables for groups. I ordered the Crystal Box Bento, which came with miso soup, 2 pieces each of tuna and salmon nigiri, chicken teriyaki, salad, and a spicy tuna roll. I usually judge a Japanese restaurant by their miso soup, and this one told me that it was going to be good. The nigiri was super fresh with thick cuts of fish. The chicken teriyaki was solid, and the salad had this addicting dressing which actually made me wished there was more of it. But the spicy tuna? Hands down a standout. Easily top 3 for me. Just the right amount of heat, and the flavor was chef's kiss. I'll be back for more of that, for sure. My sister ordered the spicy ramen--perfectly chewy noodles and that broth? Rich and flavorful. She also shared a piece of my BIL's chicken tonkatsu, and the breading was super light while the chicken stayed juicy. The veggie tempura was crispy with a delicate batter. Everything was just on point. The staff checked in on us just enough and made sure we had everything we needed. So glad we came. That spicy tuna roll is living rent-free in my head. Honestly this place is a classic for my partner and I. He and I almost always get the chef deluxe. It's delicious, the beef is always cooked perfectly and that sauce is to die for. I've also gotten the sashimi version of it and that is delicious fresh fish SO YUM. it's usually not too busy when I go but it does seem like they get lots of people in and out. End Mother's Day on a bad note because of the lack of awareness by staff and cook here. Ordered takeout, some hand rolls, simple rolls, edamame, and rice. The hand rolls DID NOT seem fresh, as if they had been out for a while or the fish wasn't kept and the proper temp. The Cali Roll smelled like applied fish. Idk if it was the imitation crab or mayo but it smelled bad. Come to think of it, they had the hot edamame and rice in the same bag as the cold sushi. That's probably why the sushi looked and smelled disgusting. I also mentioned to separate the two items... You know, common sense wise... My husband and I came here yesterday and decided to try their happy hour lunch specials. We both ordered bento boxes; his was the Crystal Box and mine was the Chef's Deluxe. Both of our meals were delicious and very filling. For drinks we tried their mango soju (the waiter informed us that their sojus and sakes are made in house), and it was delicious! They also offered us free ice cream at the end of our meal. We both chose the green tea flavor and it was tasty. The waiters had our food served quickly, and the meals were great value price wise. We love ordering the salmon salad and dining in, it's a bowl of mixed greens, and generous portion of salmon with a delicious dressing. To go, it's still a good amount of greens but very little salmon. I've even ordered extra salmon in the past and it seemed to be the exact same amount. This is such an awesome place! I have come here 3 times and they have never disappointed! They have good portions for the price you pay. Usually, everyone can eat for around $15 per person, obviously depending on what you order. Additionally, the complementary ice cream after your meal is so good! The service is also amazing with the waiters checking on you and seating you quickly. Additionally, the food does come out at a reasonable time I would say.
