You can also ask them to serve the spicy sauce on the side so you can add it yourself and adjust the spice level to your taste. (2) Shrimp Tempura: Fried just right. The coating is light and crispy. (3) Crunch Roll: Perfect and very fresh every time! SERVICE: Our female server was kind and attentive, and our food came out very fast but keep in mind that we went just before lunchtime where only 2 tables were occupied. Had a reunion with a few friends from high school here. Giant Ramen & Sushi is located in a sizeable shopping complex, so parking is quite abundant for the most part. On the other hand, that could also lead to customers for other businesses taking up spots, but I haven't personally had any issues with parking. It isn't the largest restaurant, but it doesn't usually get so busy that the place is packed and there wouldn't be enough seating. The interior remains quite minimal and clean, and the staff are friendly and get the food out relatively quickly. I decided to get the keto burrito, which was surprisingly more filling that I thought it would be. There was tuna and shrimp tempura enveloped by a papery thin surrounding (which seems to be soy paper, even though it looks like untextured rice in video game sushi models from the 2000s). I believe it was ~$15 if I remember correctly; a bit pricey for the quality but I guess you can blame inflation and whatnot. Either way, a pretty solid meal that I didn't have many big qualms with, but nothing to really boast about either. Overall, Giant Ramen & Sushi is a solid place to stop by for lunch if you're in the area. I believe you get free ice cream if you pay in cash also, so that's cool. At first, this was just a convenient neighborhood ramen and roll spot near my girlfriend's place. But after coming back multiple times, I realized I actually crave this place. It may not look like some flashy destination restaurant, but it's a genuinely good neighborhood spot that keeps me coming back. 5 stars from me. People need to learn some etiquette in restaurants. Came here on a Sunday around 6:30 and it was busy! Fortunately, there were just enough open tables for my boyfriend and I to be seated. Before we even ordered, we were asked to move to a 2-person table when a bigger group came in. It comes with miso soup, salad, 4 California roll pieces, mixed tempura and teriyaki salmon over rice. Everything was done well and it was filling, without being heavy. I also don't eat shrimp so I was able to substitute the shrimp tempura for more vegetables. The standouts of the bento box were the tempura: great veggies with a crisp batter, and the salmon teriyaki: it was a good portion, grilled well, and flavorful, especially with the added flavor of green onions on top. The salad and veggies in the roll were fresh but standard, as was everything else! The miso soup was a little too salty. Because they were busy, it did take a little while for food to come out, but it wasn't an unreasonable time. We've had bento box takeout from plenty of places before so we decided to try somewhere new after seeing this restaurant on Yelp. The ratings were good and the photos of the bento boxes looked great so we ordered 2 chicken katsu bento boxes to go. Each box came with salad, 4 CA rolls, tempura (pumpkin, carrot, broccoli, green bean, and a skinny shrimp), and chicken katsu over white rice. When the order was delivered, we were actually impressed at first. The box was huge (about 14" x 10"), the presentation looked great, and it even came with miso soup. We looked at each other and said, "So far, so good!" Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. The food was cold. Not lukewarm -- COLD! It felt like everything had been prepared way in advance and left sitting around. The chicken katsu which should be the highlight was not only cold but badly overcooked. It was so tough we left most of it. The miso soup was also disappointing -- extremely salty, like way too much miso paste and not enough water. The salad was fine, the tempura was just meh (likely because it was cold). The only thing I enjoyed was the CA rolls; surprisingly better than most places. In the end, the meal looked great but tasted disappointing. Maybe dining in would be a different experience, but based on this takeout order, I'd be very cautious about ordering to-go here again. I ordered my usual Spicy Miso Ramen, but the broth was extremely salty--almost as if a large amount of soy sauce had been added by mistake. It was so salty that I couldn't enjoy it as served and had to ask for hot water to dilute the broth just to make it edible. What stood out to me was that a neighboring table was having the exact same issue and also asked for hot water because their ramen was too salty to eat. It seemed like something may have gone wrong that day. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment or apology from the restaurant. At first, I assumed it might have been a one-time mistake. However, I returned on another day and ordered takeout, and the broth was just as salty as before. That made me feel this may not have been an isolated incident. I truly hope Giant Ramen looks into this because the restaurant has been a favorite of ours for years. The quality and flavors are usually excellent, and I would love to see the consistency return to what made us keep coming back. Our group tried shrimp tempura and few different rolls. They all tasted fresh and the baked ones did not feel too greasy or heavy. Service was also pleasant and quick. Will come back and try some other options. read more
