Trying out a new all you can eat sushi bar because it had some good reviews and a lot of options, including no rice options and an upgraded ayce sashimi for $11 more. The service was 50/50. Some of the pop working were super helpful and friendly and others, it felt like when they brought you food they practically tossed it on the table or didn't ask if you needed anything else. I'm not sure if it's because everything is ordered from a machine table side. I did appreciate the waiter going over the menu and the limitations on certain items. The appetizers on the menu that I tried were a miss. I had the shumai dumplings and they were horrible. They did not taste like shumai and were mushy. The chicken thigh yakitori was nicely grilled and the sauce had great flavor, but it was greasy. The garlic shrimp was good but it was a total catfish because they looked nothing like the menu I really enjoyed the carpaccio options they had but without the upgraded ayce you're limited to two orders of two pieces only. The fish was fresh and I loved the sauces and garnish they added to the overall flavor. The salmon belly and yellowtail belly nigiri were amazing and I loved that they don't give you a huge chunk of rice with it. I was able to taste the fish. I had a variety of their no rice rolls but in my opinion, a lot of them are one dimensional. I didn't care much for the crab mixture they use in their rolls. It was too sweet and was lacking texture. Even the veggie roll was a let down. It was far from a veggie roll with crunchy fresh veggies, instead it had a glop of avacado, soggy cucumber, and a single soggy piece of asparagus. The ambiance is chill. They have music playing in the background and it's a vibe. There's table, booth, bar, and outdoor seating. They can definitely accommodate a large crowd but I would call ahead to ensure you don't have a crazy wait. This place got pretty crowded as the night went on. Overall, it was an ok experience and I don't think I'd consider eating here again because it took over 10min to get the check and over 20min to get the last roll requested. I usually love AYCE sushi, but our dining experience at Aburi Sushi in Buena Park was an absolute disaster. We were seated outside on the patio, and the service was incredibly bizarre and frustrating. The servers were super quiet, and we constantly kept getting the incorrect orders brought out to us, and lots of missing orders. When we brought this up, one server mentioned that the staff is supposed to be telling us the names of the dishes as they place them at our table--but not a single server actually did this. To make matters worse, one girl serving us sounded completely high and spoke so softly we couldn't hear a word she said, while another male server angrily grabbed the patio door and flung it open right next to us. Worst of all, the hygiene here is a major concern. We found hair on our sushi rolls. Between the completely checked-out, aggressive service and the hair in our food, this was a terrible experience. The thing that really bothered us though was how long it took for our food to come out. We did about 2 rounds of AYCE and we didn't even order a lot, but in total it took us 2 hours to be finished. Not because we eat slow (each roll only had 4 sushi in there), but it just took forever for them to bring it out. They didn't even bring us all that we ordered. Each round we had an order missing. My family and I have been going to Aburi sushi for more than a year now every time we craved sushi. We love their small portion size which allowed us to try more varieties before getting full. We also really love their carpaccio and limited order premium sushi. However, we noticed their nigiris were more filled with rice now and the staff doesn't seem as welcoming as before. The waiting time for appetizer also took a lot longer than usual to come out. Furthermore, while we can not pinpoint exactly if Aburi was the reason, but my mom and my sister did end up getting really painful stomachache two hours after eating sushi here up until the next morning. Great price around the area with quality food. I got the $34.99 ayce dinner/weekend deal for my sister and I, there's also a premium $39.99 sashimi ayce price. Came like 10-15 minutes before they opened at 11:30am incase the wait got bad and we were first but the line grew quick closer to opening time. I would recommend going right when they open and placing your order on the table tablets ASAP because after like 30-40 minutes of the restaurant opening, their kitchen was backed up and it took a lot longer to get our food. Haven't been here in a while, but because it was nearby and my friend and I were really craving sushi we went here. We came at the end of the night and were one of the last parties to be seated. The hostess was very sweet communicating with us to let us know about the wait times. The servers checked in on us regularly and were also very nice as well. Although the service was good, $50 for ayce (including the additional charge for sashimi) is honestly so expensive. Esp given the quality of the fish we were served. The cuts were uneven and some still cold with an icy texture, which ig makes sense since it was the end of the night. The carpaccios cuts were also thick and I wish there was more sauce that came with them. I remember a few years back I used to love their carpaccios but now they are so underwhelming. I usually love going to all-you-can-eat sushi with my group of friends--we're all big sushi lovers and always excited to try new spots. Unfortunately, our experience at Aburi Sushi was by far the worst AYCE sushi experience any of the six of us have ever had. We came in very hungry, but quickly lost our appetite. The salmon tasted extremely fishy and had a strong odor similar to spoiled food. The yellowtail was incredibly chewy--almost like chewing gum. Overall, the texture of nearly every piece of sushi was slimy, fishy, and very difficult to eat. As a group, we were genuinely afraid to keep eating because we were worried about getting sick or food poisoning. Despite barely being able to eat, we still had to pay full price and left the restaurant hungry, which made the experience feel like a complete waste of money. To make matters worse, we had placed orders for about 20 pieces of sushi that never came out. When we checked with the server, we were told there were no pending orders. We then placed additional orders--but shortly afterward, all the sushi came out at once. We were left with an overwhelming amount of food that tasted very bad. We tried switching to non-sushi items just to fill our stomachs. Unfortunately, the ramen broth tasted old, and the smell of the pork chashu was so strong it was inedible. The takoyaki was dry and also tasted old. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not return, as I would be scared of getting sick. The restaurant seriously needs better quality control and order management--or it may need to reconsider operating at all. read more

Almost as if it was not thoroughly thawed before serving. I've been going to Aburi since 2019 and their menu has improved so much throughout the years! It's one of my favorite AYCE sushi spots because of how affordable it is while also being high quality. Their fish to rice ratio is perfect and I love that they have so many options for sushi, rolls, and even appetizers/hot food. The service has been consistently good even when it's crowded. Sometimes I'll wonder when a food item is coming and as I'm wondering, the server will bring it out. It's a pretty wide and spacious restaurant with many tables and offers outside seating on a cute patio. I love that they have a lot of premium items to order despite the lower price tag compared to a lot of AYCE sushi spots! I came here with my parents as they really wanted some sushi. We wanted to try out a new spot and saw that this one had a sashimi offering, so we decided to try it out. The wait time is pretty long if you go during the super busy dinner rush, so I'd recommend stopping by about an hour before to have a shorter wait time. It was super nice that you used a tablet to order, so you don't have to submit the typical paper order to a server. It really made ordering a lot more convenient and just really simplified the process. What is even better is that you really can just order whenever too; there wasn't a time restriction placed on orders. We got the AYCE sashimi, and it was just wonderful. My youngest son took me and my husband out for lunch for Father's Day and this was my first time visiting. I saw this place trending on instagram as a lot of foodies have taken on the sushi challenge, but you definitely will not see us trying to tackle that. I probably can take on 3-4 rolls but I think that's pushing it since I normally only eat 1-2 rolls. When we visited we came at a great time, we showed up as they opened so there was a line but it wasn't packed yet, but in a matter of 30min the place was filled and almost all the tables were taken. This is probably my 2nd time ever going to an AYCE sushi place and this one is by far the best quality AYCE we have ever visited. The service was amazing, the staff were super friendly, fast and checked up on us regularly. It's not too noisy at the restaurant but they have music and the tv going. If you have never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant then this is the place to try. One advice I can give is to make sure to order in increments so you don't end up ordering too much food and make sure you count all your rolls because although we had an amazing experience, about 5 rolls we ordered didn't end up showing up to our table. They have an option for just the AYCE rolls not including the raw fish, but if you love raw fish then I would advise you go for it. We always get the sashimi option. The sashimi here is firm and thick cut. Normally I don't like yellowtail but here the yellowtail belly was one of my favorites. *If you're here for the reviews, I suggest you sort them from newest to oldest so you can see the type of place this seems to be turning into.* - My party of 5 came in PRIOR to dinner rush, there were approx 9-10 people seated when we came in so nothing hectic. (this will matter later on) - The tablet bugged a couple times, erasing everything we had already selected; therefore we had to re-select our items before placing the orders. I don't blame the staff for this technical issue but just letting you know this could potentially happen. - The tablet we were using was also not displaying most of the menu images, so we ordered based off ingredients listed. (we'll come back to this as well later on) - Ordered a couple fried appetizers which were taking a while to come out. Thinking it may be due to longer frying times we decided to go ahead and order some cold appetizers, one of them being edamame. Turns out none of them ever came out - both the cold AND fried appetizers. Ended up placing an order for plain edamame 3 times. Only one order came out. - After a while of waiting, four plates came out. FOUR. Three of which had 4 pieces of sushi and the other plate had two. So we're looking at 14 bites of food.... for a table of 5. By this time it had been a while so we didn't care which plate belonged to who, we just grabbed whatever. - Oh but you know what did come out? The wrong plates. Server comes and drops off 3 plates of sashimi WHICH WERE NOT EVEN ON THE MENU WE SELECTED. We ordered the basic sushi package. So of course, we tell the server right away that we hadn't ordered that. His response? "Oh so you don't want it?" Umm excuse me? Shouldn't you first try and attempt to find out which table ordered it so they're not short on 3 plates instead of just leaving it at any random table? Anyway.. - Finally a server came back out with two more of our plates. He set them on the table and we asked him which plates they were since by this point we were still missing over 20+ plates and remember how I mentioned our menu had no images? His response "Oh I don't know. I just grab them." Umm, what?! - I wish I was joking but THREE different servers dropped off sashimi that day. We told the second guy that we didn't have the sashimi package and he proceeded to take his time going through our tablet looking at our order history before going "Oh yeah, this is not yours." Umm yeah, that's what we said. LOL. The third person was a female with red hair tips and when we mentioned it as soon as she dropped them off, she just walked away. There was no way she didn't hear us. We gave up after this. - 50 mins later and most of our food was still not out so we brought it up to one of the servers who assured us they had our ticket back there, they were just so busy that food was taking a while. And yes, sure, the restaurant was busier by this time but when we came out and ordered there were about 10 people seated. - Minutes later, same waiter who assured us our ticket was back there came back and wrote down our orders so they could start making the plates we were still missing. Came here on MLK Day right before the lunch rush at 12:40pm. The wait was only 30 minutes for a table of 4 regular adults (does not include sashimi or carpaccio) all you can eat option. When seated, the waiter gave us an iPad where we submit our orders and order our drinks with him. The drinks came out in less than a minute. The staff were very attentive and service was fairly quick. I noticed that there were a couple of roll/items we ordered missing-- but staff brought it out quickly after we pointed it out. Most of the rolls came out in 4pc, there were some that only comes in 2pcs but the iPad does state which rolls come in 2pcs. I really like that they don't give you the full 8pc roll so you get to order more rolls to try without being stuffed. My favorites were the seared salmon nigiri, Cajun tuna nigiri, and yuzu salmon roll.
