i was very surprised by show sushi, after seeing the menu, i was expecting americanized sushi, but i was very impressed and i will be back. it did a great job of serving the sushi that my friend and i enjoy (that is: just seasoned sushi rice, fish, and seaweed) first off the service was stellar. everyone who checked up on us was kind and thoughtful, shout out to all the women staff here! every single person made us feel very welcome and checked on us often even though we were chatting for a while (it seemed like a slower sunday night. a little less than half the tables were occupied). the rolls and nigiri came out with the proper speed as well. you can tell the chefs know what theyre doing. i peeked at them and they were hard at work. props to everyone here! super professional and friendly. into the food: i really loved their toro nigiri, so rich and fatty and amazing with the ponzu. rice was seasoned well, with some sweetness and tang, the perfect amount to bring out the complex flavors of the fish. YUM. same for the salmon nigiri. the pieces were FAT, as they should be. negitoro was our favorite roll, then negi yellowtail, then salmon avocado (such a creamy fresh delight) and the eel. all were good, negitoro was outstandingly flavorful. the miso soup was also piping hot. value: for 2 pairs of nigiri, 20 pieces of sushi, a complimentary chefs special (2 pc deep fried roll), miso soup that comes with the set, and complimentary green tea ice cream, we paid about $60 total before tip. that's really not bad value. especially for the quality. however, rolls typically come with more than 5. the interior was very clean, and even though u can tell the design was made about a decade ago with the blue lighting and red accents, it's pretty cute. i liked it, especially how homey it felt. it's not going to give one of *those trendy* sushi places but the food is honestly even better than those places. it's not pretentious at all. i hope show sushi keeps everything the same as theyre doing now! just more pieces of sushi with the roll please! thank u show sushi! read more

On the afternoon of June 17th, our group visited this sushi place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. As we entered the venue, the hostess who was on shift was quite unprofessional on the phone with quite a rude tone. The hostess finally finished the call and turned to greet us. For a party of 2/5 who was present, we were told to wait outside in the heat despite the many empty tables in the restaurant. When our entire party arrived to be seated, the same hostess simply waved us down (without using her voice at all) from across the room, and gestured for us to be seated at the table. Clearly, she has a voice but didn't bother to come to the front, lead us, or inform us towards the table. It was overall an awkwardly disappointing service to start off with. In reading other reviews it seems that the lower star reviews are by people that don't order traditional sushi. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Don't judge a restaurant by it's name and location. I was visiting LA and decided to meet up with some friends for sushi. We decided on Show Sushi since it was nearby but didn't really know what to expect. Upon walking in, we were immediately seated. Our orders were promptly taken, and our food came out fairly quickly. On top of the stellar service, I was blown away by the sushi. I had the sushi combo, which at first looks expensive, but is actually a great deal given the offerings. You're allowed to choose up to two pieces of anything for a total of 16 or 20 pieces. Some of the items they have listed is hard to come by at most sushi restaurants, such as toro and uni. Additionally, they serve massive pieces of fish! Beyond the sushi, my sushi combo also came with a salad and a bowl of miso soup. Additionally, ice cream is included at the end of every meal regardless of what you order. I definitely recommend Show Sushi to anyone in the area, and if I lived in LA, I would regularly visit Show Sushi. read more

Saba is usually a little fishy so I go for aji which although less, still has a delicate briny taste. None of that here. And super tender as well. Negihamachi was good except too much scallion. Could do with a little less. Also a little on the cold side. I've dined here many times but it's been a minute since my last visit. I was craving a good bento box and recently dropped by for lunch since I was in the area. As I walked towards the entrance a sign on the door said they no longer serve AYCE, which I enjoyed when it was available a few years ago. So I ordered a two-item combo lunch with beef bulgogi and shrimp tempura. I didn't have to wait long for the meal to arrive at my table. I enthusiastically started to take it down. All the items in the bento were delicious. The beef bulgogi was tender and flavorful, the shrimp tempura was crispy, the hot miso soup, and the salad was refreshing. At the end of the meal, I chose the complimentary green tea. Vanilla is the other option. Overall, I'm pleased that the excellent service and the food quality have been consistent all these years. The price, on the other hand, did go up due to inflation. Sigh. But I'm happy to support a local business. The food and service is worth it.
