I've spent a long time looking for a good dentist and they never judge, they just do what needs to be done. I also sincerely appreciate how accommodating they can be with payments, my insurance didn't cover a service and they set me up with a very reasonable payment plan. I actually came here the first time this week because of a dental emergency and will now be switching over to them permanently! Dr Shawn, Dr Ryan and Rocio took great care of me and I am really pleased with my result. I don't leave many reviews on Yelp, but after my experience with this dental office, I feel compelled to do so. I hope this review helps anyone who finds themselves in a similar emergency situation to the one I was in three days ago choose a wonderful and compassionate dentist. Six years ago, a back molar broke off at the gum line due to the impact of a car accident. Since it wasn't causing me any pain or discomfort, I never had anything done about it. Fast forward to this past Wednesday--I suddenly began experiencing excruciating pain in the area where I lost the tooth years ago. The pain spread beyond that spot, affecting my entire right jaw and even behind my right eye. I have a very high pain tolerance, but this was unlike anything I had ever felt before--the kind of pain that makes you question living. By Thursday morning, I was completely debilitated. Thankfully, a friend of mine started searching for an open dental office and came across Toluca Advanced. He called on my behalf, explained my situation, and the woman on the phone was incredibly kind and helpful. Just 15 minutes later, I was in their office for an emergency appointment. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with care and compassion. The pain was unbearable, so I could barely speak, but they quickly took X-rays of the area. Within moments, Dr. Tina came in, explained what she saw on the X-ray, and even took a photo to show me exactly what was happening. The remaining part of the tooth embedded in my gum was broken and infected. She immediately extracted the tooth, cleaned out the infection, and performed a bone graft. Throughout the entire experience, I was treated with genuine kindness and understanding. Like many others, I had avoided the dentist for years due to anxiety and financial concerns. But after this experience, I am so grateful to have found Dr. Tina. She is honest, compassionate, and truly cares about her patients. I first came to Toluca Advanced Dentistry for a second opinion on an infected tooth, and Dr. Shahrooz confirmed it needed to be extracted. The reason I decided to go with him was how much detailed information he provided--I felt confident in his care. After the extraction, I also had them place implants for that tooth and another missing tooth, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I've been a patient here for nearly 4 years, and it's been amazing to watch how much the office has grown since Dr. Shahrooz first opened. They've upgraded their staff by adding Dr. Tina and another hygienist, new technology and equipment (never seen a portable x-ray!), and overall patient experience with texting as an option! It makes it much easier to communicate with them when I can't pick up their calls. Maria and Briana are always so helpful at the front desk, and Yudeisy and Rachel make cleanings enjoyable. Dr. Shahrooz and Dr. Tina are incredibly caring and informative, always making sure I leave with no questions left unanswered. Highly recommend this office--they truly care about their patients! Since I had brought up how my last appointment I had to waited over an hour they were starting to feel rushed, but the second I needed a second to get together my payment he told me I had been rushing him so why would I need a second?? I decided to leave right then because that was very unprofessional I also am not bringing up the fact how I found treatment for less than five times the price of what they were offering me for longer treatment. The dentist told me himself "who doesnt love money" when I told them how the other dentist explained it to me better and gave me a better price and why I can't be there..... I rarely leave reviews, but after my visit to Toluca Advanced Dentistry, I felt compelled to share my experience. I came in for a preliminary tooth exam, teeth cleaning, and whitening. Dr. Shahrooz was incredibly professional and patient. He explained my tooth condition and the whitening process in detail, making sure I understood everything clearly. I had never had this done before, so I was a bit nervous, but he put me at ease with his explanations and answered all my questions. The hygienist, who was also very kind and gentle, cleaned my teeth and prepared me for the whitening. She explained what she was doing at every step, which helped me feel more comfortable. The process took a while, but I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep! And I couldn't be happier with the results! My teeth came out whiter than I had ever imagined. In addition to the excellent dental care, the office is very clean and nice. They even have free parking, which is a huge plus. But the best part is their adorable office dog, Kona. You have to meet her! I was looking for a new dentist and was recommended this place by a friend, so I thought I'd check it out even though I live in Culver City. BEWARE. You'll find better care elsewhere! In March 2024, I went in to hopefully find my new forever dentist and made the biggest mistake of my life. I required fillings in two areas (one molar and in between two other teeth), which I understood. On the day of my service, Dr. Shah asked if it was ok for the other dentist to do the procedure and since I was new to the office I thought "sure"! I'm not afraid of the dentist or getting fillings (I have had several before) but NOW I have dental trauma. The "other dentist" started drilling and I wasn't fully numbed so I felt excruciating pain. She kept numbing and numbing and then drilling but each time I felt sharp stabbing pains. She also didn't seem to know what was going on saying, "this one isn't that deep" when Dr. Shah had said it was the main, deepest one. Then she had to leave in the middle of my procedure to MOVE HER CAR!?? I finally just cried through the rest of the service so I could get it over with and leave. I come to find out later she NEVER ACTUALLY WAS EMPLOYED THERE. Just was on a "trial" with the office and didn't end up getting hired. Pretty sure that is ILLEGAL!! I should have known better when she was trying to turn on the overhead light and couldn't quite figure it out at first... The teeth that were worked on continued to be sensitive to chewing and heat/cold for MONTHS. Even after repeated (3+) adjustments and desensitizing fluid. I had to even go to a third party and get screened for maybe a root canal since the pain wasn't going away for over 6 months. Mind you, I had NO PAIN before these fillings. Although the office staff was nice, the business choices were negligent and they also overbilled for services - charging my insurance over $1,000 in total, where I had to pay some out of pocket. I had really hoped that this was the place but I wish I had never tried it. I still experience sensitivity in these teeth today and have to avoid hard and crunchy foods. It sucks because Dr. Shah may potentially be a good dentist but I wouldn't know since they decided to make me a test subject at my own expense. Shame on this business... read more
