I'm eating this great place based on a buffet restaurant experience, hence the 5 stars. I and a friend came in today (June 8, 2025) around noon, and walking in we had a good feeling about the place. Every single one of the staff welcomed us in with big smiles and pleasant greetings. I'm not talking about false greetings, I mean that we felt like we just walked into a families house for Thanksgiving! First of all the place is spanking clean from the outside front entrance to the buffet to the tables. They have a big sign inside the front foyer to announce the daily specials. When you come into the main buffet counter, you will find a very well lit buffet with all the dishes laid out immaculately, I mean clean and not your normal buffet. It looks like these folks take pride in how their food looks and it shows. Depending on the day you get different specials, today it was baked chicken, fried chicken, wings or meatloaf as the meat service. So many choices of sides so take your time and choose wisely, or just keep coming back! Today I had the meatloaf with several sides. For my sides I had the dressing, squash casserole and fried okra. Lookee here, that meatloaf was slathered up with ketchup on top, that casserole was moist and with a little crust on it, the dressing made me want some turkey and deviled egged to go with it (gotta remember to come back around Thanksgiving!). The okra was lightly fried and just about as perfect as you want; I'm guessing they either get their okra local or know where to buy it cuz it's FRESH! You get your choice (at least today) of cornbread or roll, so I chose the roll for today, great choice with the meatloaf. I topped it off with the sweet tea and at least they also know how to make good old southern sweet tea for a muggy Georgia day! I got all that (with tip) for less than I pay at other buffets around town, and better food here! Parking is not huge but it is ample for their needs. Location is perfect literally on Hwy 41. I have zero complaints about this place and I'll return just because of the wonderful folks that run this joint. I'm going to highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good buffet in a great atmosphere with some good folk. Y'all come try it out!

Oh wow!! Where do I begin. This is a wonderful establishment. The restaurant is cafeteria style with a great menu. The owners will make you feel at home.The service is excellent, the food is amazing, all the while the story of these siblings and their spouses coming together to make this place happen and to honor their mother and father will make you smile too! If you are in the mood for good old time cooking this is it. Come to Tom & Hattie's to join the family. Where the food is great. The staff are so very helpful and all smiles. Trust me you will not leave hungry. Make this the stop as you travel to and from your destination.

Offers the best service and even better food I have had from a country buffet restaurant in actual years. BBQ chicken, cream corn, fried okra, corn bread and their (rightfully world famous) peach cobbler. Will go back. Also, A++ sweet tea!

As an Entrepreneur Instructor from Alabama, I have had the opportunity to visit and evaluate many establishments over the years, and I can honestly say this place did everything right. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. It's the kind of place that reminds you of true Southern hospitality, genuine smiles, respectful service, and people who take pride in what they do. The food did not disappoint in any way. Every dish was prepared with care, flavor, and attention to detail. You could taste the freshness and quality in every bite. It's rare to find a place that balances great cooking with consistency, but this establishment managed to deliver both. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, professional, and made sure every customer felt valued and appreciated. One thing that truly stood out to me was the cleanliness of the establishment. The tables were spotless, the environment was organized, and the overall presentation reflected excellence and pride in ownership. We made a quick trip to Adairsville, GA and always try to find a local spot when we're away from home. Today we found Tom & Hattie's Restaurant, and it did not disappoint! It's cafeteria-style - you grab a tray and choose from the listed options when you walk in. We chose the fried catfish, which is made to order, so it comes out as fresh as possible. The ladies fill your plate as you go through the line, and once you're finished, a gentleman is waiting to take your drink order. The whole process is smooth and welcoming. The catfish was AMAZING - perfectly fresh and full of flavor! What really stood out, though, was the atmosphere. While we were eating, we could hear the staff talking and laughing with each other. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and eager to help one another. That positive energy made the experience even better. And whatever you do... get the peach cobbler. It is absolutely worth it! 10/10 recommend - we will definitely be back! read more

Ample parking. Family owned and operated restaurant that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Wonderful selection that varies from baked and fried chicken to fried fish, chicken livers, etc. all food is made fresh and prepared with love. We always get a variety of sides from Mac and cheese to collard greens to mashed potatoes with gravy and all sorts of vegetables. We highly recommend Tom and Hattie's! read more

Went here with my family twice. The first time I went, we received excellent service. Price was a little under $15 per person, food was fresh and the hospitality was on point. The second time I went, The atmosphere was kind of dull, servers just looked and stood with the to go plates and asked us what would we like, the portions was smaller, the food wasn't as tasty as it was the first time, and my total was a little over $13. Not sure why the price was different considering they never looked inside the plate, and I got the same thing as I did the last time. Maybe going back to back isn't a good time, im going to wait a while before returning again read more

"BEST FOOD IN THE WHOLE WORLD " This place is The Best Food I Have Ever Eaten!!!! The food, service, people and the place are All Amazing!!!!! If you want delicious country cooking, this is the place to go! There aren't many great spots for country food in the area, so this place is a gem. The prices are fair, and the portion sizes are decent. The food is fresh and flavorful. When you walk in, you choose your meat and sides, which is nice because you can see all the options before picking. There's plenty of room inside to accommodate guests. The hours are a bit different, so just check before you go. Everyone who worked there was very friendly. Overall, I highly recommend it! read more

Saturday lunch. Take out. Fried fish filets were very good. Large portions. Excellent sides of macaroni & cheese, fried okra and cole slaw. Good, small rolls. Plenty of napkins, utensils and good sturdy Styrofoam covered plate. Only complaint was lack of tartar sauce...but I didn't ask for it. read more

Can we have a 6th star, please? Five stars just aren't enough. The owners are great, so friendly, and I thought, "well, this makes the entire experience worthwhile." But then I took a bite of the fried chicken. If I'd have died at that moment, I'd have died happy. It was perfect fried chicken, just like my Grammy used to make. This will be a regular place for us. Just on a whim, we stopped here for dinner while passing through town. The restaurant is fairly nondescript from the outside. Once inside, you choose your food cafeteria style, along with drinks and desserts. Last night, there was fried chicken, baked chicken, chicken and rice casserole along with your choice of veggies (cabbage, pintos, creamed corn, mac & cheese). I had the fried chicken with cabbage and mac plus the peach cobbler. Everything was delicious, fresh and well seasoned! Will definitely stop here again when my travels allow. I can't forget to mention that all of the employees were great to talk to and really seemed to appreciate us. Loved this place! read more

I went there the other day with my family for a birthday lunch for my niece. The food was outstanding! I think the fried chicken was the best I've had, the coating was full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were just like my grandmas, creamy and buttery. Everyone was happy with their food, and the people who work there are very upbeat and friendly. This isn't a fancy place, but that doesn't matter with food this good. Give it a try, I know I'll be back. read more

Are you HUNGRY?...This is the place you want to be. Fresh, well-seasoned soul food, served in generous prtions, by a staff of friendly, caring people. My wife and i had dinner last Thursday. She chose freshly prepared chicken livers(her portion would have been enough for both of us), I had beef tips and gravy over rice. Both of us picked Mac and cheese, and green beans. Again, double scoops of both side items on each plate. We also had a roll, and the awesome peach cobbler. with drink, or two tickets totalled just under $45, for a LOT of food. Everything about the meal brought back memories of some of the best meals of my childhood. I don'e believe anything came out of a freezer or can. The mac & cheese was baked, with a beautiful 'crust' on top. The Green Beans were like those my mom used to do in a pressure cooker long ago. I only wish there was a sampler plate, with a tiny portion of everything on the steam table. Making a decision is VERY hard when everything looks this wonderful. We will be back, and will take friends with us. read more

We kept seeing their videos on Facebook and had to give it a try. All the workers gave genuine greetings and smiles and you could tell they loved working there. Just like in the videos the food looks amazing. We had fried chicken, mac and cheese, pintos with cornbread and baked spaghetti with mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll. We had one peach cobbler to share. The serving size is large and we had leftovers to take home. Everything was delicious, they didn't just open a can and there you go, you can tell they season and prepare each item and that sets them apart from so many other places. The place was very clean and we enjoyed our meal completely. read more

My mother and I went just to get our plates a few times on Thursday or Fridays. She loves the sweet corn and we both love the fried chicken. Over the holidays we ordered the fried chicken over 30pc. It was delicious as always I am always very pleased with the delicious food and friendly staff. read more

I'm not sure if I'm just lucky today after my past week of weird…read morecircumstances, but I actually landed excellent barbecue, in back-to-back visits of barbecue joints! For those of you who don't read my reviews, only about one in five barbecue joints I go to make the cut. The last one that didn't make the cut, was that fast food place Smokin Ds in St Augustine Florida. Anyhow, let's get to Big J's. I'm parked across the street, which I park at semi often, and throughout the years, and have only been next door at the vape shop in the strip mall. I think the other times I've came by they were closed, but they weren't closed today and I kind of expected them to be. I wanted to have supper here last night, but I had to go endure tragedy at the Mexican restaurant in the same row. I noticed they were open today, so I mosied it over about 1:00 p.m. The place is really clean, it's a family run outfit, and they are ALL SO nice. So I wanted a brisket plate, but the nice young gentleman behind the counter told me that it wasn't ready and it would be ready in an hour, so I came back at 2:00 p.m.. I ordered brisket, collards and green beans. Again if you don't follow me, you don't know my culinary history and that on the smoke pit, but this place was just about as good as my own. My collards were fabulous, green beans were off the chain, my brisket was hot, tender and moist. So good! They went above and beyond, the young gentleman at the counter asked me if I was a truck driver after placing my order, which I am an O/O, and I got something free or got a discount, not too sure what it was but I got something! That means a lot, we spend weeks and months away from our families to bring ungrateful people the things they want, so it's a little gestures like that that really makes a difference to us. Well they definitely have a lifetime customer. I just have to make sure when I pull here that they're open. Personal taste leans more towards creamy slaw and this is all about the vinegar, which many prefer. My dinner companion had fried chicken and said it was very good.
