They promptly came out and gave me a reasonable estimate, lined up the utility's flagging, and replaced the broken fence posts, and repaired the broken fence panels. We had 3 posts break recently when the wind was 60 miles per hour. I called Ron, and he had his guys stop by the next day and brace the fence until he could return, which he did in a reasonable time. The guys he sent did a great job, and were very efficient. We thought the price was fair, and we would definitely recommend them! read more

Great solution! I had some fence posts that needed to be replaced. I had three companies give me quotes. Two of the companies quoted me to replace 6 posts and Tom and Rons told me I only needed three. They gave me the best price so I went with them. When the crew showed up a week after the consultation, they told me I actually only need two post replaced, saving me some money! Super honest and friendly, and they got the job done in a couple hours. Highly recommend these guys if you need a fence fixed! read more

Requested an estimate on a small strip of my yard to be fenced off. When one of their guys came they said they would have an estimate to me by the next day. Still, 3 weeks later and I have not received an estimate after multiple requests and just empty promises from Ron stating he will get the estimate to me. Very disappointed in the way they do work. Will not be hiring them. read more

We had these guys out to rebuild our deck two years ago. They stained it immediately after and I find out after the fact (from another contractor) that is a major no-no as the wood needs to cure before it will take the stain. Now 2 years later half the paint has peeled off and the deck looks 15 years old. I called to complain and they could have cared less. They of course don't want to take any responsibility for it and pointed the finger at Millard Roofing because they were the company who contracted them to do the work. Was referred to Tom and Rons by SW Fence when I called to ask them to repair a fence they constructed about 11 years ago. Called Tom and Rons and they were happy to help. Next day locater was here. Day after crew shows up and begins work. They replaced four rotting posts on existing fence. Third day rain. Fourth day out to set 6 new posts on the east side of our Aksarben/Elmwood Park home and dug out existing cyclone. Next day job finished. 1. Crew extremely polite and pleasant to have around. 2. Crew was hard at work upon arrival until days end. 3. Cleanup each day was perfect. 4. Job was best contracted work ever done on our 92 year old property in the 16 years we have lived here. 5. What a terrible experience! This company was highly recommended to me for fence repair. The day that they finally came to do the job, I came home from work to find out all they did was put new posts in and nail the old fence back up (less that 2 hours of work total, according to my cameras) Now my fence is totally uneven, crooked, broken pickets, etc. They didn't even let the concrete cure overnight before nailing the fence sections back up. When I voiced my concerns to Ron, he immediately got defensive and argumentative and told me that he knew his guys did a great job and that he is "the best in the business." When I told him I felt his bid was too high since the competing bids I received included all new pickets, Ron told me that wasn't true since he charges the lowest prices in town. After the job was done my kids found a saw blade, nails, and clumps of concrete in the yard. The only response I got from Ron was that if I want new pickets, he is glad to come and give me an estimate. Do not waste your time or money dealing with this jerk! read more

Although I didn't end up working with them, they were very timely in coming out for an estimate to repair my fence and timely with responses for negotiating the estimate and figuring out a working schedule for the repairs. Ultimately decided to go with a different company based off of time constraints, Tom and Ron quoted me at getting repairs accomplished within 2 weeks, the other company quoted me a few days (I'm in the military and often deploy very suddenly with less than 24 hours of notice). Had my schedule been more flexible I would have gone with Tom and Ron for sure and will be recommending them to other friends in the future! read more

I was quoted a price of $150 to replace a fence post. When the invoice was sent for $200, I was told that the person sent out to do the estimate wasn't qualified to do the estimate. (Isn't there a rating LESS than one star?) read more

Had these guys fix my leaning fence back in December. The bid was to extract the fence post and rest all the footings on my fence with an additional 26" concrete footings. None of this was done. They two works showed up late for this one day project, they didn't extract any of the footings, only poured new concrete caps, and they added either too much water or not enough calcium to the mix to get the concrete to set correctly. I called Ron to have him come out the same day the guys were done to inspect the work and he refused, said he trusted his boys did the work correctly. I felt insulted he would not come and look at the job they did. Not even two months later the concrete caps were crack, breaking apart and I have video of me lift one of the caps away from the post with two fingers. Such a crappy job. It was even a bigger hassle to get them out to look at it, Ron just gave me the run around for days until he finally came our and then wrote me a book on why this job was done correctly. I had to threat him to go to small claims court to get him back out to fix. Ron his extremely rude and he acts like he is better then all. Worst mistake going to these guys I would never recommend this company for anything. There is a lot more to this story but unfortunately I do not have time to narrative. Just go somewhere else. I called Tom and Ron to do some repair and stain work since I was referred to them through a fence company who told me they were to busy to deal with me, that should have been the first warning sign. However, after talking to Ron and Tom I was assured they do quality work and have professionals who do staining as a fulltime job and they stand behind their work. Ok, sounded great so far, so I hired them to repair and stain my fencing after a storm not too long ago. The repair of the fence was great, however, the staining was horrible. First off they pressure washed the entire fence and deck but they sprayed too close to the wood and it splintered all over. Then, there were many splotches where stain dripped and was left, many runs of the stain on the vertical posts, they used two different brands of stain that "looked similar" (their words) instead of waiting another couple of days for more of the same color to be ordered which made areas look different in color, it was wiped very unevenly through the whole project, and they dripped stain on our newly purchased stepping stones. Normally I would be ok with a little dripping in the yard but this was a red stain on a cream colored stepping stone which looked like someone bleed all over it. I called the company and the owner came out to look and said himself this was unacceptable and he would have the whole thing re-pressure washed, sanded, and re-stained. I came home the next day to discover about 4 college age kids staining my fence and deck, again with two different brands of a "similar color" stain. After they left I went to inspect everything and all they did was apply a second coat of the stain, I still have splotchy spots and runs along the fencing. Looks like I'll have to have another company fix their terrible work. read more
