We stoppped by for 'linner' (between lunch & dinner) yesterday and the food is as good as we remember. We had chili cheesburgers and split a bag of fries. Their food is excellent. Their burgers are like you made them yourself. Maybe even better. Their fries are not greasy, but they're crunchy and soft inside. They're addictive. Then come the shakes. Been here in the past, was decent. These days it sucks. American burger had huge, thick slices of red onion, little to no thousand island dressing. Flavorless meat, seemed like the meat was sitting around well before becoming my burger. Buns were smashed, top and bottom, like they sat on it. I'll never return and I'm a local. Food is good but service again was not.. when I had to remind the server about part of my order that was forgotten, I received an attitude with a snappy "sure" when I asked "may I get my milkshake please" the couple after me had an issue as well and also received an attitude when asking for the restaurant's mistake to be corrected and the restaurant was not full or overwhelmed. For the first time, we visited Tom's to satisfy our ice cream craving. A very kind young man took our order for a Hawaiian and Hot Fudge Ultimate Twister to go. My husband declared it the best shake he's ever had. He thoroughly enjoyed the shredded coconut with chunks of pineapple and banana in each spoonful. Hamburger patty was really dry and tasteless. I also found a little bug on the lettuce in my burger so I just threw it away. Cruising around the hood I decided to stop in to check out their milkshake! I'm a huge fan of chocolate milkshakes from Burger stands. One of my favorite milkshake comes from Gott's roadside in Napa California. I'm going to have to say this place matches up with the quality and taste of the milkshake from Gott's minus the price!! Last time I had a milkshake from Napa it was about $6 this one here at this place was only $3!! I also give them big ups for honoring veterans by giving them a discount on Memorial Day. Ever since they changed owners a couple years ago, things are just not the same. Once in awhile I just want a burger lettuce wrap with fries. But the last time I was there a couple weeks ago, it smelled like really rancid oil and I said something to the workers, because the smell was extremely strong, they said that they didn't smelled anything or had any complaints. We love coming to Tom's. But it seems like this place is under new management. Not quite happy with our recent visit. Our order took longer than expected, mind us we came in when there wasn't much people. Which we were happy because we normally hit their lunch rush. But my burger was a bit off this time, the bun was extremely soggy, sauce was just all over the place, and the meat just tasted a bit rancid. My daughter's chicken strips were a bit raw on the inside still too. We really hope they get it together because we love this little burger place. read more

I come here for the burgers and shakes. Which are so good, that I haven't tried anything else off the menu. This place is, in my opinion, the best fast-ish burger in town. You can get a malt, a standard, and a dipped soft serve option for ice cream. Usually super nice, and quick. But be prepared for a wait if it's very busy. Minus one star from me, because more often than not, they are already closed by the time I'm hungry (or maybe I just always want a burger and shake on Sunday). read more

I have been going to Tom's for about 10 years. I went today and was disappointed. In the past, it was clean and neat. Today, we could not find a clean table to sit at. The ketshup top was dripping with ketshup down the side of the tub and to the floor. The burger was delicious, but they must have changed the burger buns. I don't mind a dusting of raw flour, but the flour was caked on the bottom. I had to peel half the bottom of my bun. read more

Everything I've had here so far has been top flight. Today I tried the steak and cheese sandwich. I had to spit a couple of pieces up, too tough or fat to chew. The edible parts were good. Another thing. Even though served on a kaiser roll, the sandwhich was soggy with mayonnaise. It won't travel far like that. Next time...I'll try the pastrami.
