I am not one to write a negative review, but this happenstance made me want to open the eyes of other potential patients. As an original patient in this dental office (for 7 years) for the now retired Dr. Arnold Becker, I fell into the hands of a young & new dentist, Dr. Tom Vu, who took over the practice. Dr. Vu treated me for bondings, fillings, and basic Met Life INSURANCE COVERED X-RAYS. My hygienist from a NON-Met Life dental office advised me that it was time for bitewing x-rays OR periapical x-rays, noting either one would be okay. I went to Dr. Vu for those bitewing x-rays (5/23/19) specifically because they were a 100% covered service. I discussed with Karen, his assistant, that I was there to use the 100% covered service for the x-rays, insurance covered every 2 years for bitewings. When I inquired about the difference between bitewing x-rays and periapical x-rays, Karen told me there wasn't any difference. I trusted her knowledge and definitely asked that she take the x-rays that she knew Met Life Ins. would cover at 100%. After she took the x-rays, I received in the mail a bill showing that Karen chose to do periapical x-rays which was billed as a "Basic Service", not bitewing x-rays which are coded as a preventative service, @ 100% covered benefit! When I contacted Met Life, they advised perhaps the dental office had miscoded the service & to check with the dentist's office. Upon contacting Karen, she said that my hygienist office requested periapicals.(?) How so, because she went right into doing the x-rays and never stopped to call them. However, I personally was told bitewings OR periapicals, whichever the insurance would cover for the 2year checkup. So I ended up having to forego the 100% benefit that I am entitled to, AND PAY out-of-pocket the $60 deductible PLUS the percentage due for the periapical x-rays since it is considered a "Basic Service" as opposed to bitewing x-rays, which are a preventative service. When Dr. Vu returned my call days later, he stood firm, backing his office assistant. He stated insurance companies change their policies and now Met Life might not allow periapical x-rays as a 100% covered benefit, as he stated he did periapicals for me in the past. After again contacting Met Life Ins, they informed me that they have NEVER COVERED periapical x-rays as a preventative service @100% under my plan. Even though, Dr. Vu tried to tell me that I had periapical x-rays at his office in the past, Met Life said my file showed he billed them for a Complete Set of FULL MOUTH of x-rays, never only periapicals. Bottom line, there is a discrepancy between what Dr. Vu is trying to make me believe and what Met Life Ins. has in their records. As well, this might be Dr. Vu's way of getting rid of INSURANCE COVERED patients because he may feel those contracted rates might not be enough money to make him feel he is being well compensated. While I got charged for a "Basic Service" rather than a "Preventative 100% "Covered Benefit", I also had to pay the deductible, which might not have been necessary since my teeth are in basically good condition. I feel the benefit that I am entitled to and being paid by my monthly premiums was completely ignored so Dr. Vu could collect additional funds. Instead of handling this equitably, his answer was to tell me to find another dentist. I'm out the 100% bitewing benefit for 2019 because I don't intend to get more x-rays and now have an extra expense for the yearly deductible. Two strikes for Dr. Vu who was arrogant and insensitive in his conversation with me. I don't appreciate someone taking advantage of me AND my insurance! I am now in the hands of another dentist, experienced and professional!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Vu since he got out of dental school. I would not entrust my teeth to anyone else. He is very precise when it comes to drilling and filling. His dental hygienists are also awesome. They are very tender when it comes to cleaning teeth. They take their time and perform their task very smoothly, as opposed to some earlier hygienists that I have had that seem to want to scrape the enamel off of your teeth. Let me preface this by saying that I, like many people, do not like visiting the dentist. In fact, I hate it. That's why my last visit was years ago. Some tooth sensitivity forced me to finally make an appointment, and I found Dr. Vu through my insurance. I had to change my appointment a couple of weeks ago, which was easily facilitated, and today was finally the day. First of all, I appreciate how careful the office, and the building its in, is being about Covid. There was no one in the waiting room, hand sanitizer everywhere, and a temperature check was taken. This already put me at ease. The dental hygienist was among the best I've ever worked with. She was kind, and patient, and was incredibly knowledgeable. Dr. Vu was also incredibly approachable and let me know what I needed, without suggesting anything unnecessary or extravagant. I felt trust and comfort, something that I appreciate when at any doctor's office, let alone a dentist's office. I immediately booked my next visit. I moved and had to find another dentist. Someone at work recommended Dr. Tom Vu. He makes you feel at ease and presents things in an easy to understand manner and didn't push things that I didn't need. I had tooth sensitivity and the solution he gave was as easy as brushing with Sensodyne every other day. I've been doing that and the sensitivity went away. I found my dentist! read more

I have been going to this office for over twenty years when Dr. Arnold Becker was the dentist. He retired and no Dr. Vu is the dentist. I had some reservations because I was spoiled with Dr. Becker for so many years. Dr. Vu is very professional, answers all questions and has a great "bedside manner". I do not like going to the dentist. I am in the process of getting two crowns and I was afraid that it was going to be a painful process. He was great. He addressed all my concerns and it was a completely pain free experience. The office staff is fantastic. I do not have insurance but they walked me through filling out paperwork for an outside provider which is like having a dental credit card. If they hadn't taken the time to do this with me, I would not have been able to get the work done. My daughter normally sees a pediatric dentist, but she needed a crown. I did not think seeing an "adult" dentist was going to work for her. She was very apprehensive, but Dr. Vu and his assistant were great. They made her feel very at ease, took the process slowly and it went well. I am very happy with Dr. Vu. As I said, I've been going to that office for twenty years and I plan on going there for another twenty! read more

Dr. Vu actually cleaned my teeth himself instead of the hygienist (who was also very nice), which I don't think has ever happened to me with other dentists. Dr. Vu has been our family dentist for years. When he relocated, I cheated on Dr. Vu with another dentist to avoid the long drive. I regret that decision and my kids weren't to pleased either. This makes it easier for us, since in the past we have had terrible dental experiences at other places when we bring someone in a wheelchair. To be passionate about his work and super caring for each patient is not something that is learned, but he is naturally born with. Recently I had an emergency root canal on the biggest day of my career. I know that doesn't sound like fun...it wasn't...BUT Dr. Vu was able to squeeze me in and work with my limited schedule and do what needed to get done to get me to through my big day. His and his team's "bedside manner" is perfect. So friendly and warm. He definitely made getting a root canal as comfortable and pleasurable experience it could be! I've been going to Dr. Vu since he took over Dr. Becker's practice. Dr. Becker was my dentist for around 30 years. Dr. Vu is nice & pleasant & puts you at ease. I've had a few procedures done lately & never experienced any pain. I get nervous about dental pain before a procedure & I can't say enough about how pain free they all were. This is a fabulous office and Dr. Vu is the best dentist I've ever had. I'm so grateful to have found them. Each person on the staff is extremely kind and capable. I have had a crown put on and filling replaced as well as cleanings. Dr. Vu took the time to explain everything to me so I knew what to expect and because I requested to know what was happening as he did the procedure, explained what he was doing at each step. It's weird to say I can relax at the dentist, but I do! They make it so easy and totally painless to have work done you could fall asleep in the chair. Seriously. Not only that, but everyone is kind and they all have a great sense of humor while being totally professional. Everyone from the dental assistants to the hygienist to Dr. Vu is wonderfully meticulous and precise--exactly what you want in a dental team. My crown, as it came from the place that made it, didn't fit perfectly, so Dr. Vu had them redo it so that it did fit perfectly. He took the time to make sure everything was exactly right. They all take great care and pride in their work. I believe they love their work because they are all so warm and friendly. You know when you've entered a good office environment and this is a place where people are happy to come to work and are happy to see you walk in the door. Finding a good dentist is not easy. When you think about walking into a dental office and/ or getting work done, the emotions you feel is nervous and/ or anxiety. TOTALLY the opposite when you come see Dr. Vu. Everyone in the office greats you in with a warm smile making you feel comfortable and welcomed! Two very important keys i look for in a Dental Office. I recently came in to get a crown done and i was surprised of all the little extra things they do to make you have a great experience. I was given a pillow for my neck, which was very comfortable during the procedure. Evee his assistant asked if i wanted to use their noise cancelling head phones to listen to my own music. THAT WAS AWESOME! Made time go by pretty fast. At the end Evee wiped my face with a warm towel that smelled good. I kinda of felt like i was at a spa? Almost like if i had just finished getting a facial. (i know silly for me to say, but it felt great!) Over all i even forgot that i had been numbed and got work done. Karen was very helpful in explaining what i needed to come in for next. I was happy she was patient with me since i did have a lot of questions. read more

Dr. Vu was inappropriate with me and I will never go back. He starts by asking, "Did you have a good new years?" I answer, yes, it was fun. He asks me what I did. I say, I went to a party. Literally 15 minutes of cleaning my teeth later he says, "If you were at a party on new years eve, then you're not married. Are you?" I do not answer him because I am shocked. He's been mulling that over this whole time? Then goes on to ask, "Do you have kids?" Again, don't answer him. Later we are discussing my chipped crown. He asks how it chipped, and I tell him that it broke when I was chewing on a cough drop. He asks, "What are you doing chewing on those?" Well, because I am an adult. I say, "I should be able to chew on basically hard candy without my crown breaking." He follows up with, "Maybe you sucked on it for a while and then chewed it at the end?" Shutter. I just kind of on auto-pilot say, "uh-huh." I am very irritated at this point. Later, he says it looks like I am grinding my teeth and then asks, "Do you have someone sleeping next to you at night?" I am so annoyed at all of these questions. It felt very creepy and I was very uncomfortable. I loved Dr. Becker, but he retired and left the business to Dr. Vu. Very unhappy and thoroughly creeped out. read more
