Stopped here on our way to Dillon Beach and this did not disappoint! We got the breakfast biscuits and the ham & cheese croissant (which were enormous!) and they were both delicious. Will definitely be stopping again to try their homemade breads and pizzas! Their sandwich menu stands out when you first walk in, so I immediately saw that they had a veggie sandwich and it could be made vegan by leaving off the cheese (I asked if they had vegan cheese and they said no) and leaving off the mayo, so that's what I ordered, and it was very tasty and filling. Looking at their website now it says they have a veggie burger, but while I was there waiting for the sandwich, I saw their burger menu on the wall on the back, and I read that thoroughly and didn't see a veggie burger offering. Maybe I missed it, but from what I remember, they didn't offer a veggie burger. Hence the 3-star rating. read more

Got the steak breakfast bagel. Steak and bagel were top tier. So much yum. Perfection. And a cheese skirt to boot! Took a few minutes but they're a 2 person operation and many customers came in right after us. Nice family run business. We ordered the bruschetta sandwich and chicken ranch sandwich. Both were delicious. The place is nice and clean, with plenty of local art on the walls to explore. Food was very mediocre; 20 minute wait for a sandwich even though we were the only ones in line. Had a frustrating experience with staff. Wouldn't allow me to add on a water bottle after I had made my purchase because of a 5 dollar minimum for a credit card purchase, and refused to give me tap water. Had to plead to even get an empty cup to fill myself at an outside fountain. I'd recommend skipping this place... there's a reason there's no line regardless of all the other businesses around being busy. read more

I've really been working hard at writing any negative reviews, it is unfortunate that this was where we stopped to eat in Tomales. I ordered a Reuben sandwich, my lunch partner ordered the tri-tip sandwich. The meat on the Reuben was stiff, yet slimy and had a really bad texture and taste. I didn't bother trying to rectify this because the place was packed, and the woman at the register seemed irritated to be working. Also, the tri tip meat that I tasted was very dry. I'll remember to pack snacks on my next excursion, because we planned to dine at William Tells but much to our surprise it was out of business. read more

My 3 sister inlaws were here visiting the past few days. Their folks and them spent many camping adventures at Dillons Beach as children. We drove over for a bit of a walk down memory lane. After roaming the beach for a couple hours, we headed back home to Napa. As we approached Tomales we saw this cute little deli and decided to get a bite to eat. Boy oh boy I'm glad we did! The food was so good. We entered and a nice lady took our orders. There were 6 of us, so it took a while, but she handled it like a pro. The menu is quite extensive with many sandwich and salad choices. I'm going to focus on my choice.. I had the French Dip ( Get This!) It was served on the most delicious Sour Dough French Bread with carmelized onions and gooey melted Swiss cheese. Tha Au Jue was so rich and piping hot. The ladies behind the counter are Hispanic and I found the way they prepared the meat to be cultural. It was chopped up as if it were going into a taco. Carne Asada style so to speak. Very tender and juicy. The others had the Ruben, a Tuna Melt that was off the hook, a Pear Salad served with Raspberry/Balsamic dressing and a Caeser Salad. All amazing! There is a relatively small indoor dining area and we chose to eat there, but there is also a small covered area for dining Al Fresco if you desire. The prices are quite reasonable too. I only took 1 photo of what used to be the Tomales Bank. Go check this little gem out if you're in the area. read more

Well, Ive been here maybe 20 or so times while biking, driving by, or moto-ing somewhere. It's not fancy, but good. I always seem to have the lamb sandwich. A BIG word of warning....there are NO open bathrooms anywhere near Tomales since the pandemic. Like NO-WHERE! Closest is Pt Reyes Station down the coast or Valley Ford, maybe Petaloooma. This definitely wasn't the destination just driving down the road needed to grab something quick to eat and found this place on yelp and what a find it was. Well it's not fast food and it's not super fast but well worth the wait We split a "tri-tip sandwich and a few old style coca-cola products in the tall 10oz bottle these are the bottle still bottled in Mexico using real sugar instead of using high fructose corn syrup and they were ice cold and soooo refreshing. You could tell this is definitely a local favorite there was a steady flow of people either ordering to eat in or take out. Like I said before not fast food everything is cooked and put together fresh. As you can see there are lots of choices and I noticed everyone was ordering something different but the tri-tip did seem to be popular and for good reason. The interior and exterior is pretty simple two rooms inside yet still very small and a few tables outside.This is the kind of place you grab your chips and your own drink place your order give them your name and pay and they yell out your name when it's ready. Stopped in Tomales, CA today to grab food on my way exploring highway 1. This little deli/cafe was the only food available, so I jumped on the opportunity to try it. They have a lot of choices, and on a whim I ordered a cheese steak sandwich (something I'd never before in a place that doesn't feature them as a main menu item). I was blown away, it was better than any other I had before (and in San Jose there's a lot of choices). The beef tasted fresh, tender, the peppers were perfectly charred but not mushy. Found this gem in the middle of a 100+ bike ride and it was the godsend meal I needed to keep pushing! The food was quick and delicious. Few places have such a variety of sandwiches and make them so well! I got the Summer Sandwich, with diced chicken, corn, avocado, and honey mustard it was an amazing combo I don't see around enough (incredibly refreshing) and all on an awesome sourdough baguette. The food was mediocre and bland. My veggie omelette needed some seasoning and the hot sauce only helped to a certain extent. At least it arrived in a timely manner. I was with two friends and one of them did not receive his meal until a full 15 minutes after the other dishes.- a very simple breakfast sandwich. Dubbed the Marin Mcmuffin, it was far from the gourmet farm to table goodness you would expect from a dish with that moniker. As noted by other reviewers, the girl at the register was not friendly at all. She barely interacted with us. My friends are in the service industry, so they made a point of dropping a nice wad of cash in the tip jar, but that did nothing to lift her spirits. Guess she cannot be bought. Later, my friend was chastised by her for helping himself to a free coffee refill. She tersely said - no free refills, there is a sign there! She did not even apologize when she realized the sign had fallen off the machine and was out of view. We apologized for trespassing against the coffee machine and wished her a pleasant day but as we were leaving I heard her complaining about the incident in Spanish (I'm fluent - si, hablo español). We stopped by Tomales Deli and Cafe on our way to Guerneville / Occidental. We had checked out the yelp reviews prior to our visit and were really excited about eating some delicious sandwiches!! But we should have known, having been spoiled rotten by places like Domenicos and Sideboard, our sandwiches expectations are ridiculously high (and thus nearly impossible to meet). Surprisingly sandwiches here are actually more expensive than Danville! They are $9 a pop. We had the Rancher sandwich (ranch dressing, chicken, bacon) and the Chicken Bruschetta (pesto, capers, chicken, bruschetta). The sour rolls were amazing and fresh. The quality of all the produce were suitable and fresh. The problem was the chicken. They use a processed piece of round chicken that is breaded, reminiscent to me of the spongy round chicken patties that I got in elementary school when I had a hot lunch in the cafeteria. I would have much preferred a "real" chicken breast that was freshly grilled rather than the processed chicken patty. But that's just me... They do have a great selection of cold beverages, tons of great chip options, and the service was friendly. The pictures on yelp dont quite match the current seating inside (now they have those nondescript brown laminate tables and chairs) but there is plenty of seating. We decided to take our sandwiches on the road. Would I go back? Maybe if I was in the area again and really hungry....and even then I would be sure not to order anything with 'chicken'. read more
