What a unique find Diekmann's was. This store/market/eatery is a staple in this community and has been here since 1940. They offer anything you can possibly need from groceries, sundries, produce, and wine to fishing supplies. To top it off you can come in and order a sandwich, a burger or a pizza. Service is friendly and helpful. We came here a couple times while visiting Bodega Bay for items we had forgot to bring. We tried the burgers and the pizza and all of it was tasty. What I loved was the parking lot that had a great view of the ocean. They offer long hours of 7:00am - 9:00pm. Whether you want a quick bite, heading out for a day at the beach (picnic), or heading out of town be sure to stop here. read more

Great store on Highway 1! Parking lot has a beautiful view of the ocean! Easy parking did us. There were a few open spots. They pack a lot into this smallish store. Fresh fruit & veggies, packaged goods. We couldn't find prices on some of what we were buying so we brought them to the register to ask. And some prices on the shelves were old. It's It ice cream sandwich for $3.49. Calypso lemonade for about the same price. Box of Mike & Ike's has 99 cents on the shelf but it was $3 or something. They take ApplePay so that makes it easy! read more

Wow! This is the pit stop for everything from foodstuffs to hardware to prepared and fresh foods ... it's the most perfect quaint little shop that's actually not so small! Fantastic customer service with who we spoke in Punjabi and Hindi :-) It also has loads of alcohol, which we didn't buy but ... the prices and variety is right. Parking free and easy! read more

Buyer beware. This business is dishonest and significantly overprices its merchandise. I attempted to return a completely unused item the very next day after purchasing it, and the return was refused. The owners claimed they had a "no returns" policy, but the only sign was posted high up on a distant wall where customers would not reasonably notice it. There was also nothing on the receipt or at the register stating that all sales were final or that returns and exchanges were not accepted. The customer service was equally disappointing. The manager ignored our concerns, and the owners were rude and dismissive. Based on my experience, they do not appear to understand or follow California's consumer disclosure requirements regarding return policies. I disputed the charge with my credit card company, which promptly reviewed the situation and credited the transaction back to my account. read more

This is one of those stores that's deceptive, in that from the outside, it looks small, once you go inside, it packs more than you think it would. It really is an all-purpose store with all kinds of sundries, food items, fresh veggies, wine and drinks and all sorts of stuff. In stopping here, we were in search for panko and brie cheese. Yep, they had 'em and I was kind of skeptical at first if they'd have them. It was another one of those times I was glad to be proven wrong. So whether you're in the area for a day-trip, a picnic, camping or moteling, this is a reliable place should you need something. This spot is a gem and though it's not hidden, it seems to be driven right past by tourists. The people in the shop with us were for sure locals grabbing a pizza or snacks for a Friday night. We got burgers and some snacks and it was perfect. When we arrived back at our hotel to enjoy them I was super surprised to find a big handful of fries inside. Didn't expect those and they are good. They were the big wedge cut fries. The burgers were solid and I was appreciative to enjoy a good meal in the comfort of my hotel without too much fanciness and nonsense. This place saved us!! We stayed in BB for 10 days. We discovered that there aren't many (good) restaurants in the area that served casual food other than seafood. Whereas we love seafood, we couldn't do 10 days of it. This little bodega had everything we needed, and made awesome sandwiches, burritos and pizza. We stopped by three times in 24 hours- first to get breakfast food for our Airbnb, then to pick up sandwiches to take on a hike and finally a dinner pizza to take back to our place at the end of the day. My husband and I stopped looking to buy some headache medicine and I was in for a surprise. Like many other reviews I have to add the don't judge a book by its cover because yeah it is pretty amazing inside. It has everything you could need while you are in town. It is very big, has fresh vegetables and fruits, local meats, great wine selection and wonderful service. I ordered a sandwich from the deli counter and it was delicious. Stopped in for burn cream for my husband because he burnt his leg on the fire pit at a nearby campground. They didn't have any for sale but the owner gave me a couple packets from his employee medical supplies. Above and beyond- 5 star customer service. Diekmann's literally has a little bit of anything and everything you could possibly need or want during your stay in Bodgega Bay, but as the only store in the area with those provisions, you are absolutely going to pay for the convenience of accessing them. The store is clean and well stocked with everything from meat and sausage for the grill, to pantry staples and seasonings, and even a full section of fishing bait and tackle. They also make pizzas, sandwiches and breakfast items in their kitchen. During our three days we stopped in first to check it out and catch the sunset from the parking lot, next for a few pieces of produce, for fishing bait and tackle, and lastly for an ice cream novelty treat for the kids. All told we probably spent close to $200 bucks here in three days, which is a lot when you consider all we bought were two zucchini, a red pepper, container of salsa, four ice cream novelties and a box of frozen squid. This is a great spot if you're in need of something while staying in the area, and the overall average matches up with that idea, but you're best off coming prepared if you can. read more

Super convenient and right on the busy main road of Bodega Bay with adequate parking. They have hot foods, sizeable grocery items and stocked up shelves. They even had towels. On our mini getaway, my fiance and I got hungry and stopped by this place to buy some snacks. The outside could use more light, it was insanely dark. When we got inside, we were surprised at big the store was. They carry all kinds of things from supplies, fishing gear, clothes, toiletries, alcohol, paper towels, etc. Little did we know that you could also order pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers, etc. We got snacks, drinks and a half and half pizza! The pizza took 25 minutes to be ready so we waited in our car. It smelled so good when we got it, we were both excited to dig in! When we got back to our place, I was disappointed with my half of the pizza. I asked for extra pineapple and paid extra for it only to be given 2 tiny pineapples.. never seen that before lol. It really tasted like cheese pizza with ham. My fiance thought his pizza was just okay too. Not worth $33 dollars though. read more

The best local store while my week long stay here. Produce was freshest of all stores nearby, well stocked for a small store. Bait, some fishing gear, grab and go food, etc. prices are higher than your huge stores like Safeway but is to be expected. Staff are kind, service is fast. This is a good little store to get last minute needs. It is right off the highway, so easy access. Great view of the bay. However, prices are steep, so I certainly wouldn't do my main shopping here. Surprisingly, for a small shop their pizza was really good. It was pretty late and we didn't want to cook dinner, so it was nice to drive down and grab a pizza. They guy behind the counter let us know there was quite a wait for specialty pizza & gave us the option to take the pizza that just came out the oven which was really nice of him. They have pretty much e everything you'll need: Groceries, fresh produce, frozen foods, juices, deli foods and a kitchen that serves hot foods like fresh grilled burgers, cold and hot sandwiches, awesome chicken curry, and really good fresh baked pizza to order.
