After calling around I pretty much came to the conclusion that no matter what I tell myself you get what you pay for . I had various prices from ridiculously high to suspiciously low and torn between saving money and still getting someone who wouldn't ruin my investment. That's when I found Chad from Tomberlin, he was competitively priced had tons of proof of great work online and was ready to help me out even though he was busy with bigger projects . Chad is a genuine person from the moment he came over after we spoke I knew this was going to end well . He knows what he is doing and isn't afraid to dive rite in and do work himself if his employees are busy on other job sites . Chad even allowed me to pick my own tile and didn't pressure me to specifically buy from him like some other companies do . He met me at Lowe's where I found my tile for a lower price than it usually was and explained what materials I would need never trying to upsell anything at any point . When I got my backsplash installed the process was rather smooth, Chad and his employees made sure to keep the space clean which goes a long way with me . Everyone he brought over was extremely respectful and always wore a mask no matter how long the work took . The project did take a couple days to fully complete but was worthwhile and I would do it all over again because Chad is such a pleasant person to do business with . There was a small gap and empty spot in my paint from a previous company that installed my countertops Chad fixed it rite up along with the backsplash install just because he didn't like the way it would look in the end even though he didn't have to . Chad goes the extra mile for sure . He cares about the actual end results and frequently checks in on his crew. Many of my previous experiences with lessor companies gave me a bad taste so to speak as they only cared about getting payed and never made sure their crew actually did what they where supposed to . So when I experienced how Tomberlin does work it brought some trust back to my home improvement experience . We hired Chad back in late 2018 to oversee and complete a partial bathroom remodel and bonus room conversion. The process was fairly straightforward, and as with most generally contracted jobs, it took a bit longer than expected (which in the grand scheme of things is not a huge deal). The finish outs and quality of craftsmanship appeared to be high quality when the job was completed. Fast forward to 2022 and we notice that the shower was starting to slowly leak into the garage. When Chad sold us on the job, he added lifetime warranty language to the waterproofing of the shower, so naturally, we attempted to call and email Chad to inquire about how we could exercise the warranty option and get the shower repaired. No answer. No returned emails, zero contact. We even reached out directly to the sub-contractor Tex Tar Waterproofing, Inc. with the same result. This was particularly frustrating because the remodel was only three years old. Frustrated but not surprised, we sought out a different contractor to come in and fix the broken shower. Unfortunately for Chad's reputation, this revealed additional problems that were not visible on the surface. No water liner had been installed in the shower pan, presumably because the Tex Tar work would have made sure it was waterproof in the event of a pan crack (it didn't). The full drain system we had been sold wasn't fully installed and pieces were missing that might have helped to prevent the leak. The original crews used nails to affix HardieBacker to the pony wall that was added, where screws should have been used for stability and longevity. My point here is that corners were cut where they shouldn't have been, and instead of honoring the language in the original agreement, we got ghosted by both general contractor and sub-contractor. Not a good look. I can't recommend Tomberlin Painting and Remodeling for anything bathroom related. In all fairness, I'd give them 4/5 stars for the drywall and door installation they did. I am still ready and willing to engage in a conversation about this review and the work that was originally done with Chad. read more

We used Tomberlin Painting in Sept. 2020. The initial job looked great, but only three years later we have damage to the siding around our chimney as well as caulk that doesn't even seem to exist. The seams in the siding have gaps and appears that that caulk has either shrunk or completely dried. When the initial job was being done, my husband noticed that they didn't caulk around the chimney and called Chad to have the guy who does the caulking come back. Now there's water damage and we wonder if they ever really did it or if the caulk used on the entire house was bad. My husband noticed the siding after cleaning out our gutters. He's called Chad twice. The first time, Chad said he was on his family vacation and he'd get back with my husband as soon as he got home. After waiting a bit, my husband contacted him again and then got a response that he was in the middle of a large job and to hold tight and he'll definitely follow-up. This is delayed, but earlier in the summer Chad and his crew refinished our kitchen cabinets. They brought us into 2016 with a great gray paint from old and dates oak. The crew was so friendly and prompt- very precise in setting up our big open kitchen for paint to go only where it was meant to. I was really concerned about the outcome of this project as I had 2 other rooms textured by 2 different people with poor results...so 3 was the charm for me with Chad's crew.
