I booked a two-hour Train Trestle & Petroglyph ride for my family for which I received a…read moreconfirmation email and then a reminder email the day before giving vague directions on how to get to the horse area where we would be met by our guide. The email stated that we should arrive 15 minutes early and be prepared to pay cash. When we arrived, the road was not marked in any way and we apparently stayed too far to the left and ended up down the wrong path. Fortunately, Red saw us and came on his ATV and helped us get back on the correct road. Red also contacted the person who was supposed to be giving us the tour who apparently had "looked at the wrong date" so there was no one ready to take us on the tour. Red had a hay truck coming and was going to try to take us on the tour himself, but after over an hour of waiting, we decided not to proceed as we had other activities planned for the day and Red was still unloading the hay. To their credit, Red did try to help and was a very nice person. We were contacted by the company to try to reschedule but we were only in the area for a short period and already had activities scheduled for the rest of our time in AZ. It looks as though they have some interesting plans for this business, but it does not seem to be organized yet. When I called the number, the voice message was from December, talking about being closed for the Holidays and opening in January - so obviously not updated. If you are thinking of using this company, I would recommend that you contact them the day before and speak to someone to be sure they will have a guide there to take your group on the ride. I mistakenly assumed since they had sent me an email that they would be ready.

I hike the Cochise Trail ever few years. There's a lot to see here: rock formations, vistas,…read morebirds, insects and rattlesnakes, and is a challenging hike of ten miles. I usually start this from the west side, driving through Tombstone and taking Middlemarch road north of town for nine miles before turning north on a forest road. This road is a dirt road that gets very rutted the last two miles as it follows a dry wash. This wash fills into a creek during active monsoon season, so a high-clearance vehicle is necessary. Unlike the east side, parking and dry camping on the west side is free. The trail climbs immediately for 1.75 miles before hitting the western Stronghold and from here it's a gradual descent to the eastern trailhead and campground. The only source of water is at Halfmoon tank, a cattle pond about halfway up or down the trail, depending on which direction you start this hike. Lots of butterflies were in the area in September. During active monsoon season, the creek will run and the waterfall on the western side is a sight to behold. My hiking party rests here near the restrooms before returning the way we came. There was no water in the campground last month when I last did this hike. Dogs are allowed The only negative thing about this hike is its remoteness and accessibility. From Sierra Vista it's a two-hour drive each way. Add another five miles for the hike and it's a day-long adventure.

They say mountain bikes are permitted but we are riders and I think the trails are too narrow. And slots where you can t pedal. I say hike. So no parking, bathrooms or camping or potable water. But you can park outside the gates. A few did, like us. Since we are new to the site, we only went to the water tank. Lots of shade along the way. Caves. Huge Rock formations. Hawks circling above hunting. Butterflies, BlueJays. Lots to see. I m going to go back while the weather is still cool. It is normally Officially Closed July to September due to extreme temps. Great to use your imagination about where the Apache's would have hidden in wait to protect the Stronghold.

i have lived here for many years. this small town does NOT have potential to grow. that's because…read moreof its entire community and town council. its illegal to stop a town to grow, its not illegal to suppress the growth. the town runs the council. if they don't want a business here, they will forcibly remove town council members as a take over to stop it from happening thru a voting process. if the town doesn't like a certain business, they will boycott it, until that business closes. some one posts on the towns facebook page their order was wrong, etc, boycott. this town bands together to make waves. every business owner i have asked over the years passing thru, if they'd bring their business here, they said "NO. i will not bring any of my business here, this town is out of control". and now i finally understand why. on the secret hidden facebook page OG benson chit chat, theirs a lot of anger that comes out of a lot of people who live here and the surrounding areas of benson when they post online. everyone here wants to keep this a small town and not grow, but they will keep popping out kids like no tomorrow. their is not enough jobs to support even half this town. the aluminum plant was supposed to be built here, they boycotted it. for years they complained about not having a bowling ally since the owner of it wont sell it so the town can open it for the public, so a multi millionaire came to our town, him and the towns council made plans for it, announced it would be built across the hsopital. EVERYONE was furious about this, they didn't want this too close to their neighborhood in walking distance. the millionaire simply said "fine, ill take my money else where". stay classy benson. NOW they want to take down CTI (acid transfer station for the mines) and apache powder (apache nitrogen produces black powder based explosives for the mines). this town wants to cut hundreds of workers from their jobs, leaving them and their families, children under 8 years old to the date of my post, homeless. they want this because they claim they "care about the environment". but when people in their facebook groups asked to bring in vehicle emissions, they got very angry and said that wont help our town at all. if this town truly wanted to stay small, and a snow bird town, they would cut the school, stop having kids, which would cut down its population, saving this town from their future kids getting on drugs all the time, stealing, vandalizing, being homeless, you name it, I've seen it all the time over the years, from generation, to generation. this town simply doesn't want you, or your family here. its a very close knit community. 70-80% of this town is pro right wing politics. you better keep your mouth shut when passing thru if your think otherwise and NEVER post anything about it on this towns facebook page. if your for the right side, they all welcome you. a lot of people here think the towns embezzling our tax money. well the benson town golf courses property taxes is over $170k a year. the roads are very bad to drive on, it throws your vehicles around. town leadership always says they never have money to fix the roads because its too expensive, yeah we wounder why. our towns hospital is very small, you better hope you don't get stabbed, shot, etc, they have to life flight you to the nearest hospital. those poor nurses and drs are always over worked. and our waiting room is timely to get in to get seen. if you want a quiet town, this isn't it. we don't have emissions in cochise county, people are always cutting off their exhausts to be the loudest and stand out. benson police department seems to always do a very fine job cracking down on all the criminal stuff happening around here besides vehicle violations like 1 headlight out at night, etc. their has been suicides these past several years. it seems the railroad tracks and highway is their get away from wanting to live and fix them selves. it saddens me. people here are generally happy, and some are helpful. this place feels like alaska though. you cant expect to get a job unless you know some one or many people, and you've been here for a long time. it seems the entirety of this town is racist and very judgmental. our black community is literally 1%. if your white, you can own a business here, and own a house. if your of any other race, you CAN NOT have those here. it doesn't matter if your from outside our country and move here being a multimillionaire, you have to work at a job like the rest of us, and you cant own your own house, you have to rent like the rest of us. i hear this crap all the time living here. benson used to be a prideful town. its turned into a dark entity and i don't even know why. the one thing i can say about this town is, everyone has eachothers backs. during the riots around the u.s, people came down here from tucson trying to incite our town to riot, they lit stuff on fire, our town beat them up badly, and told them to never come back..

I dropped off my ebike at 11am, and the taller gentleman told me they would call me when it was ready. The time past and I didn't receive a call l, and I drove from Benson, AZ to get my bike repaired so I wasn't local. I had lunch, ran errands, and some shopping. Since 3 hours had past wirh no call I dropped back in, and this time a shorter guy came out and I told them if my bike was ready and he replied wirh a smart remark with attitude "oh the scotter" I daid no it's an ebike, and I pointed it out saying "oh there it is" it was in the same spot and hadn't been touched. I asked how come it's not ready?. He replied there were others ahead of you come back later, and I asked what time do you close he said 6pm. I told him that's why I dropped it off in the morning and when I called you guys said it could be done no problem. I don't know if this is the norm for the shorter guy to have attitude & treat customers rudely?. He said we're finishing up lunch and it'll be ready in 30 minutes I said ok, plus i asked since you're going to have it apart can you take a look if it needs brakes, he said they look fine I daid ok, because I use it alot and of course it was a concern of mine to have it checked out plus I had adjusted the brakes already I only needed to know if the brake pafs needed replacement. As he worked on my bike he was angry and was frustrated and I hadn't done anything except to have my bike fixed. When I went to pay the taller gentleman charged me $55 I said why he said for whet the shorter guy did to the bike, and apparently he charged me $20 extra dollars to adjust the brakes when I didn't ask him too plus it was only supposed to be a visual & he already given me the answer they were fine. What got me upset was they never asked me if they could adjust the brakes and they up charged me $20 for doing something that had already been done by me and didn't need it. I wasn't very impressed wirh the customer service I received especially the extra charge of $20. It's not the money it's the customer service & common courtesy of letting the customer know what they are doing to your property because it all comes down to dollars and sense. I won't be going back to m&m I'd rather go to their competition although they are more expensive, but customer service is number #1 in my book. I've had several businesses in the past and I know all about customer service and they lack in this area, much room for improvement. This was my experience with them so I'm Yelping it, and I gave 2 stars because the taller gentleman was friendlier than the short guy. So beware before you go, it doesn't matter if they've been in business for 30 years, because they need to go back to basics THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST.

They helped me out by fixing my tire issues by putting in heavy duty tubes both front and back and also installed tube liners in the tires. They also adjusted my brakes and derailleur for me and did all this very quickly. I highly recommend going in to the shop and talking to these two very knowledgeable gentleman if you need to purchase a bike or need a repair. This bike shop is Top Notch!!!!
