First of all, Tomcat was recommended by a large Grass Valley autobody shop for my smallish front fender and wheel well repair. Tomcat was amazing to work with and they went above and beyond what was asked. They painted the front hood for free and greased the tailgate latch that was not part of the job. I got my 20th anniversary edition Volkswagen GTI (2003) on new years day in 2006. I've had this car my entire adult life and have always been obsessed with it's color (they only made 1,000 in this Jazz Blue color). I wanted to do something to commemorate our upcoming 20th anniversary together so I decided to get a complete paint restoration (the body was faring very well for being a 22 year old car, but the clearcoat started peeling in the Grass Valley sun when I moved here a few years ago). I'd been looking around at different shops for a while, most of whom had this grave tone in their voices when they told me I might as well buy a new car if I wanted a paint job (um, what?). Until I went to Spotless Auto Detailing where the owner Brian Scott recommended I take it to Tomcat Collision. From the beginning, Bill and his team at Tomcat made every move to accomodate my requests and vision for my car. When a small thing didn't turn out as expected, they went above and beyond to re-do it and even offered a discount (which I didn't accept, and instead paid in full because this team is amazing and deserves to be paid for their work!). The lead technician Onica was especially helpful, and huge shoutout for being such a badass! The final result literally took my breath away. while exiting a parking lot, I was sideswiped by a picnic table which left a white mark all the way down the side. I went into Tom Kat to get an estimate and he asked me if I had time to have it addressed then and there and within 20 minutes I was on my way and my car looked like brand new. Once again, Tomcat Collision, with Bill at the helm, has far surpassed my expectations. They did an incredible job repainting my 1966 Mustang coupe, with a difficult metallic color at that. In addition to painting the car, they installed a new windshield, dashboard, headliner, and did additional work that I'd not even requested. The car looks incredible, and the closer I look at the paint work, the more impressed I am with their craftsmanship. From the exterior, to the door jams, inside the hood and trunk lids, it's nearly flawless. I am impressed beyond belief. I can't speak for the other body shops in the area, but I can tell you that you will not be disappointed with the attention and quality of work you will receive at Tomcat Collision in Nevada City. read more

What an excellent experience all the way around. When a huge branch fell on my brand new car I was so bummed but Bill met me the next morning at my work to evaluate the damage and started the claim process. Customer service was beyond expectation! Apparently, my new car had a special kind of paint job that demanded a high level of experience and knowledge. my experience with tomcat collision was amazing. my vehicle looks brand new. they went above and beyond and did way more than asked. they even fixed a problem on my car that was unrelated to the accident i originally brought my car in for. my whole family and i are extremely grateful. then, after I got my car back, I had another unrelated issue happen to my vehicle. Bill arranged a tow for me and fixed the problem. he didn't charge for any of the work he did on the unrelated problem, or the tow. Not only did they quoted the job $2000 less than the big shop in town but they went out of their way to do additional detailing that was not part of the original quote and they detailed the car as well. I am a 50 year-old lawyer, and I don't write many reviews. Not sure I ever have. Frankly, it's hard to set aside the time. But my experience with Bill and his family at Tomcat was so over-the-top good -- both in terms of the work performed and the customer service -- that I needed to share it. Bill was introduced to me by another auto repair shop in Truckee, "the only guy I trust," he told me. The repairs included damage from a (minor) head-on collision of my 2018 Audi A7, which I keep in pristine shape. Work included repairs to the front bumper, quarter panel, wheel, and rocker panel. Right out of the gate, I knew Bill was a special guy: he advocated hard for me with my insurance company to make sure we got the best parts (new, not refurbished) for the car. He made repairs that he saw, without charging me extra. He saw unrelated paint chips, and just repaired them for free. He handled everything smoothly and professionally. When the car was delivered back, it was spotless. The quarter panels were perfectly aligned with the hood and bumper. The detailing was immaculate. But, the story about Bill and Tomcat's commitment to service was really just getting started. Seems that during the repairs, the onboard computer fell out of adjustment. Unfortunately, by the time I realized it, I had taken the car to San Francisco -- almost 3 hours drive away. That didn't matter to Bill When I called him, he promised to make it right. He scheduled a tow truck to come to my house to pick up the car, which would be repaired and returned the following day. Wow, that's great service, I thought. But, the tow truck scheduling fell apart. So, Bill's daughter and wife -- his daughter and wife! -- drove 3 hours to pick up my car. When the repairs were done, they were set to return the car and drive home. Wow, that's even better service, I thought. But, Bill's wife's car broke down. So, the following day, Bill sent an employee down to San Francisco with the car, who dropped it off and returned to Auburn by taking a bus in SF to the BART station to Emoryville and finally up to Auburn via Amtrak. What??!! Who does all this? Who goes through this much trouble just to make it right with a customer? Having worked with Bill and spent a good amount of time talking to him, here is my observation: Bill did all this not just because he wants to keep me as a customer the next time I need work done. He did all this because of his impeccable sense of ethics. He wanted to get it right. Not because it would benefit him financially, but because he is honorable.
