I was weary of going here at first because I thought it was going to be super divey, but it wasn't and I was pleasantly surprised. We came here on Saturday for Karaoke and actually ended up having a pretty good time. We got there at 8:30pm which was right before the karaoke started. We got seats at a table and were brought the drinks we ordered. Our bartender checked on us multiple times throughout the night, too. The song selection for karaoke is pretty good, and there are some rather funny people singing. It's not my favorite place, but I would likely go back sometime. read more

This is a fairly strange place, located in the hard scrabble outskirts of Buena Park. On the surface, it's just another bar with pitcher deals and shots by the handful. Their karaoke stage, however, attracts one of the more multifarious and unusual crowds I've ever seen. With Disneyland nearby, I suppose there's something in the water that attracts struggling actors, musical theatre fanatics and aspiring country stars. The TomKat caters to blue collar Hollywood--the thousands of theme park employees, dinner theater performers and non-union crew clustered in Orange County. Needless to say, they like to sing. From barely decipherable mumbling to Bette Midler-volume ballads, the range of ability is mind-boggling. Genres skip from Stevie Wonder to Faith Hill to Childish Gambino in single fifteen-minute stretch. Some of the performances will leave you worried about the singer. Others will drunkenly amuse with their free-form reinterpretations of lyrics and dance moves. I think I'd like to go again. read more

I'm being generous with my stars because they had a really good pineapple beer here. I'm not sure what it was called, my friend ordered a pitcher of it and it was so tasty it was gone in minutes. The other pitcher of beer we ordered was left untouched. We came here for the Karaoke but were very disappointed when they turned down my friend and I. The Golden Girls karaoke organizer was very grumpy and told my friend not to count on singing but to sign up anyway -- so we both did even though she was not happy about it at all. I tried tipping $5 to get her ahead and the grandma shooed me away telling me that wasn't going to help anyone out. I understand we arrived later in the night but grandma didn't have to be such a grump. If my friends want to stop in here again I will be more than glad to try it again and order another pitcher of the pineapple beer/cider. Otherwise, it may be one of those places I forget about. The pros to this place: close to my house, very diverse friendly crowd overall, nice servers, good singers, and strong drinks. The cons: price of drinks varies of course and some can be club like, the bartenders are hit and miss as one can be very attentive and friendly but the other isn't, and lastly the parking is small so tough to find unless you go across or down the street. read more

Came here for karaoke and drinks! This place is lively, fun and has a very laid back vibe! What I appreciated about this place was how everyone there was enthusiastic and encouraging! I also loved how diverse the crowds were! A multicultural salad if you will but the best part was that everyone was laughing, having fun, singing, dancing cheering and just having a great time together. A true testament to how music can bring people together! Probably one of the best karaoke spots I've ever been to! And they had my favorite beer - Golden Rod Mango Cart! My friend And I were racially profiled and treated horribly. We had a large group of people for a going away party for karaoke night. The manager treated me with disgust when I asked about a beer.. honestly.. It was infuriating and degrading . He yelled at me. . my friend got kicked out for dancing on stage .. while other white people were dry humping and dancing on stage as well.. only we got called out and treated rudely. He said, and I quote , "your people are upsetting my people" what the heck ? Then, when we warned other people going in that it was a racist establishment, they said "good" and pranced in. I'm so disgusted. Predominantly white , rude , and racist for sure. Having hate in a bar is dangerous and I highly recommend that people of color choose a more inclusive and safe space to enjoy karaoke. BEWARE . In regards to Ale.T and your review. Im sorry you didnt have a good time at Tomkats but i was there the night you all were there and what you said is not at all what happened. The guy you were with got up on stage several times while people were singing and was asked to stop. When he didnt and went up again he started flipping everyone off and made rude comments so the manager said he had to leave. When u came up to bar knowing your friend had been asked to leave and tried to order a drink the manager told you no if you were with the guy he was sorry you had to leave as well. You then got heated and asked why he said and i qoute " because he has been disrupting my people" meaning his costumers!! Sometimes his english gets the best of him he never ment it to be racist!! This bar welcomes all people no matter the race, color and or gender!!! I have been coming to this bar for over 15 years and never have i witness and racial comments !! I've been coming here off and on since they opened the new location and I love it. Sundays with Tawny are great. First thing to love is the AC. It is on and will keep you chillin -- literally. Second is Tawny who is competent behind the bar and a maniac when she is entertaing the folks. Third is the new mascot (who is probably named Roofie) a Tom Cat with a martini and a microphone. Just got ripped off by Jaimie. Says I had 5 vodka tonics when I had 3. Then says ok I'll take one off. Still got screwed. Her remedy was to pay by the drink. When you have a tab you're supposed Time be paying by the drink and settle up at the end. I bought her a drink so the tab should have been 3 Jamieson's and 3 vodka tonics. Not 5 vodka tonics and 4 Jamieson's. Paid the tab but will only come back when a competent bartender is working. Where is Tawny?!?! Her drinks were watered down. She adds way too much ice!! I've been here for years and normally only go on the weekend when Tawny is working. Then I know my tab is straight. I've been going here for years. I've been to this bar about 3 times. It's a very crowded and popular karaoke bar. The drinks are well made and they also have Jell-O shots which are pretty good. It can get really crowded so if your going to see make sure you put your song choice in ASAP. read more

This lounge is a total hidden gem. There's an awesome kareoke stage that's huge enough for groups of friends to get up and humiliate themselves/have a great time! Great range of music and clear tv screens to read lyrics off of. They have a full bar.. for guys. I'm specifying this because they don't really have the capacity to make any cocktails or mojitos for the ladies, which causes me to lose 1 star from them. Plenty of beer and hard liquor though! The last reason why I deducted another star was for the reason that their yelp photos are pretty much false advertisement.. They have photos up of female bartender babes. Last Saturday night, however, it was just a bunch of male bartenders, and the bar was filled with a much older crowd. Wahhh! No babes on a Saturday?! Lol.. Service is cool though! You just don't get what you see in their yelp photos.. Womp, womp, womp. They won me over with their Taco guy out front though.. Tomkat Lounge puts the dive in dive bar and I absolutely love it. Cheap, strong drinks and friendly faces. During the week it's all the older regulars singing their hearts out and chatting like they've known each other for years. On the weekends the place fills up and it's a super fun crowd. The server I always see there is very nice and she's a pretty good singer too. There's a pool table, a jukebox, and inflatable props to play with while you're on stage. They have TONS of songs to choose from, the book is like 10 pounds. It's a really fun place. Though I've never tried it, I hear if you get hungry the employees over at Harry's Place (in the same parking lot) will deliver your food to you. Nice! I went to this bar at least twice a week for several months. It was a great place to drink after work. This one star is for Arturo the bartender. He's friendly and generous with alcohol. Don't ever order a margarita. Arturo's only flaw is that he's horrible at making those. This place has lost my business FOREVER. The karaoke lady made me wait 2 hours. When she finally called my name, I asked her if I could switch songs (and I had the new song picked out with the numbers ready). She skipped me. After 2 hours of waiting to sing. The best part of this place is the regulars! I absolutely love the support from the Karaoke crowd and that everyone is super friendly. I've been coming here with a group of my friends who also love to karaoke for a while now and it's my favorite place to go after a long week. If you're drinking beer, get a pitcher! It's super affordable and you get a good 2.5 beers in it. You can reserve the seating in the back corner for a party. The one pool table is a bit awkwardly placed because sometimes you're hitting people with the stick, but most people are usually nice enough to understand. There's sometimes a taco guy out front that's super amazing! They are delicious and perfect for a bite to eat late into the night. There's a 7-11 for those who forget a lighter or need some snacks pronto. No outside drinks allowed inside, not even water, so just beware. But they're super cool about snacks/food. New years eve some girl walked in with pizza at midnight. It was amazing. Kimmy is so friendly and she has the best personality around! She sings beautifully and is so polite in taking orders and checking in on you. It's absolutely the best place to go if you just want to unwind and sing a few songs with your friends! All the KJ's are really good, just saw a new girl who is really chatty and keeps the atmosphere light and fun. She's really good! I was surprised this place was already on Yelp. We go to this place for the karaoke which is nightly @ 7:30 pm, Fridays @ 5pm (NICE AND EARLY!!) It's a dive-type bar with regulars. Most are nice, but they can seem territorial. We just politely ignore them. Full bar, great service, strong drinks! A lot of people sing, so it makes it really fun. There's one pool table at the back of the room for the non-singers. There's a burger joint outside, you can bring food in. :) They also seem to have food for happy hour, but I don't know the particulars of that. The karaoke book is GREAT! Tons of songs, and some interesting new releases. The KJ is wonderful. She's an older lady who knows her stuff! Make sure to tip her! The key at the place is to put all of your songs in as soon as you can; she stays pretty much to the rotation. I took one star off for the bathrooms. My boyfriend says the men's is god-awful, and the women's is smelly (except for once) and a mess. Don't sit down, and bring hand sanitizer. :) If you love "karaoke magic," you'll put up with the bathrooms. ;) And we're going tonite . . . !! read more

Donna is right up there in my top 3 favorite KJ's of all time. She is an institution. Soooo glad she's back. So I used to primarily go here when they were a venue for Karaokefest (a huge multi-venue karaoke contest all around OC, LA and Riverside counties. Man do I miss fest here.) Anyway they no longer host it so now I drag my behind down three freeways, all the way across OC to come in here for a song and a drink and to say hi to Donna. Arturo the bartender is cool and heavy-handed with the alcohol and Kimmy the cocktail server is friendly and freakin' hilarious. One thing I love about this place is that it is a bonafide dive bar but the patrons, old and young, are cool as hell. It's like the staff (KJ, bartender, servers) set the tone and people rarely, if ever step out of line. I've never seen anyone start any trouble here. Another thing I adore about this place is that karaoke starts early on the weekends. On Fridays it's starts at 5pm (not that I'd ever get there that early) and on Saturdays it starts at 7. So if I just want to head out, sing a couple of songs, have a couple of drinks and still be in bed before midnight, it's totally doable. Oh yeah, I almost forgot my other favorite thing about TomKat - you can bring in your own food! I'll usually call in an order for sushi, mexican food or hawaiian bbq at a place nearby and take it to go, and come into TomKat and enjoy my dinner with a cocktail and some entertainment. It may seem like a small thing but it makes me pretty happy. So there you have it. If you like dive bars and enjoy singing, this will be your new favorite spot. Count on it. read more

I came to this bar a week after I turned 21. I wasn't quite used to the bar experience, but this place offered me the best experience of my life. I came in around 11 in the morning on a Wednesday. I just got back from a college class and I was ready to have a drink. I go up to the bar and order my favorite beer and was greeted by the friendliest bartender I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. To my left and right were 2 military vets from Korea and Vietnam. I figured I'd offer them a drink or 5 and we talked for a majority of my time there. Before I knew it, it was 5 in the afternoon and it felt like 30 minutes. Everyone was heading on out. So I pay my tab and to my surprise it was only $30. I could have sworn I drank my weight in alcohol. Maybe not. I don't remember that day too well. However, this bar remains my favorite. Definitely better than Cups down the street. I haven't been here in a while and I look forward to my next adventure. Thank you for being such a great place to unwind after a long day. This bar was definitely something else. I was greeted by an employee and was brought a pitcher within ten minutes. Talk about excellent customer service. The crowd wasn't really the type that I'd make friends with. A lot of people forty or older. Not sure how much the drinks were. My tab was covered thanks to my friend John. Tomkat Lounge formerly known as co co's has been in my neighborhood for many years...and provided me with many fond memories. Once upon a time they had an area where they allowed bands to play.....the 1st show I had seen there was the bands Street Trash, The Orphans, and The Cuts. It has since evolved into a Karaoke Bar. That's right! you can sing or watch people sing every night! This place gets really packed at night...and often times I am left standing. So get there early...or be ready to jump on the first table that opens up!....when you walk in you will see what i mean...every inch of this place that can has been filled with tables and chairs is (and I still find it hard to get a table sometimes)....leaving a small walk way to and from the bathroom...by the bar...and a small dance area in front of the karaoke stage. That's right! a stage! this isn't one of your 1 day a week Karaoke jams....no...the karaoke "booth" is there...bolted to the freakin walls and floors..hehehe There are some really fun and good singers that come here from time to time....and some horrible horrible attempts at singing as well... usually I get a few good laughs...but as my drunk goes on...the more I realize I need to get out of this place before it drives me insane! The people here are friendly and even the customers seem to all know each other...the lady who runs the karaoke booth is pretty cool. She loves her job!..hehehe and her singers. 1 pool table in the back...which is never empty...so you will probably have to set up the challenge if you wish to play. here is the best part though....EXCELLENT selection at the bar...this place carries a plethora of liquor! which means they can probably supply you with any of your favorite drinks...and that's a big plus since some of the other local bars are either just beer and wine...or carry a smaller selection of liquor. only once did I ever have a complaint, and that was once I bought a New Castle pint from tap. and I swear it smelled like vomit, .... I tried to drink it, thinking maybe it was just me because I had just come from another bar and was starting to feel a bit toasty....and after like 2 or 3 sips I gave it to my friend and asked her if it smelled to her and she said yes I had to return it and order a bottled beer. The bartender graciously took the glass back and mentioned it could have been from being an old keg. he quickly rectified the situation and gave me a fresh new bottled beer. I have since gotten New Castle there and have not ever had the same problem again. so ....that's not really a complaint I guess. the bar hosts to many different walks of life..from old to young. I didn't know about this place until Tawny, a friend of mine, who works here as a bartender mentioned it to me. A couple of tidbits: This is a full, straight-on dive bar with drinks/cocktails only - NO FOOD/APPETIZERS. If you want food, there is a 7-Eleven where you can get food and bring it in the bar for your "lunch"; otherwise, I recommend eating before coming in for drinks. If you're into White Russians, this place makes a killer one as well as Bloody Mary's (saving that for next time). The bar itself is very quaint, located next to a 7-Eleven on Knott, past Lincoln in Buena Park. Drinks are decently priced, around $5-$6 a head, depending on what you're drinking. read more

1 month out of the year for 3 years this place became a second home to me. From around 11 to nearly 2 I'd be there, drinking, listening to people sing, talking, bumming cigarettes. For the month of october I'd join the Haunt crew and drink until it closed, hang out in the parking lot and eventually sober up enough to head home. Ha, I would totally come back. It's so fun to just sit and watch all the regulars go up and sing. It's a totally laid back atmosphere where you can just sit and enjoy each others company. And the drinks, of course. The price is right and the drinks are heavy-handed. And the lady working the Karaoke station is super cute. She knows EVERY song they played that night. This place has the look I love, dark, seedy, kooks singing passionately during karaoke, but no bargains. I've had my birthday at Tomkat for the past few years and LOVE it! The regulars are awesome! The KJs are talented and fair! The bartenders (especially Art) are hilarious and always a good time! The cocktail waitresses (Kimmy and Destiny) are too funny and never mess up an order! Where else can you find a place where you get a pitcher, a pack of smokes, hilarious staff, and talented (and not so talented) regulars singing "butterfly kisses" and "ice ice baby"? Also, dance floor and stage with blow up guitars and a drum set... awesome!!!! Best if you bring a group of friends. When you walk in pick any empty table and claim it. Waitresses walk around attentively and ask you what your looking to drink and they bring it over. The service here is great. Most nights there are two waitresses. No hooters type bar here just a friendly hole in the wall . The waitresses are very direct and attentive. As soon as you see your glass half full they ask if you need a second or third. Bar tender usually knows basic drinks. Don't order anything fancy or else it won't taste good. I don't think they have portion control which is why you get allot for you bang. Bring 20 bucks and you get your money's worth! They update their karaoke listings all the time. Chances are if its top 40 they already have it in there database. The cool thing about this place is you have people of all ages sharing the mike. You hear Johnny cash followed by lady gaga jams. The location of the bar is golden. Near the 91 freeway it connects you to all main highways. Large amount of parking . The decor is shabby. Old and very beat up. The rest rooms are disgusting but the ambiance makes up for it. Best place to sing and hang with friends in a budget . Bring people it makes your first time more fun. Never coming back here again. My sister and I went to have a beer and talk. The bartender asked for my ID and she was inspecting for more than 15 seconds. I gave her a look and she said "it doesn't look like you" even though she never actually looked at me. We ordered our beers and my sister opened a tab. We never got service again. It is very divish and very local orientated,that is what I like about it. My parents used to come here when it was KoKos. The later it gets in this place the weirder the vibe it seems like (in a good way). The older ladies get drunk and begin to prowl for some late nigt hype. This would be the perfect place to find some random Cougar to take home if I were ever single when I went into this place. Super chill spot and very non-threatning.
