We came here to watch the World Cup and were incredibly grateful to score a last-minute reservation. Every other sports bar we checked was completely booked, so we were excited to find a table here. The atmosphere was fantastic! The place was packed, but it never felt disorganized. From what I could tell, they have multiple levels, including a rooftop, and there was a great energy throughout the restaurant. One of the highlights was an older gentleman (I'm guessing the owner or manager) who really helped create a fun environment. He walked around with a megaphone, interacting with guests, giving away small prizes like hats, bottle openers, koozies, and other giveaways. He even took a moment to thank everyone for coming and reminded guests to take care of the servers, which I thought was a nice touch. Speaking of the servers--they were amazing. Even with a full house, service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Food came out surprisingly quickly, drinks stayed flowing, and our server never made us feel forgotten despite how busy it was. I ordered the chicken tacos, which were good I, and everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. My daughter absolutely loved her apple pie à la mode and cleaned the plate! My only complaint is that, for a sports bar, the TVs could definitely use an upgrade. Some of the screens were fairly small, a few weren't very clear, and one even had visible lines running through the picture. Since people are coming specifically to watch games, better screens would really elevate the experience. Parking ended up being easy since it was a Sunday. The nearby garage was free, and I was lucky enough to find street parking directly across from the restaurant. Overall, this was a fun place to catch a big game. While visiting the Bethesda area, we stopped into Tommy Joe's on a Sunday night. Be prepared to walk up two flights of stairs, but once inside, it's a fun neighborhood sports bar with solid bar-style food and a welcoming atmosphere. We sat at the bar and had great service and conversation with Brandon, the bartender. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with waffle fries, and the person with me had the Reuben with tater tots. The Reuben was perfectly proportioned to the bread, and we were both very happy with our meals. The crab cake was the standout for me, not overcooked, not dry, and seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend it! One thing I learned quickly in Maryland is that Old Bay seasoning goes on just about everything. I do like Old Bay, but for me it's best when cooked into seafood rather than added afterward, as it can be a little salty. The disrepect and lack of understanding from customers, staff, and management towards our group--a group of minority-background students--was frustrating and unacceptable. In short, we were harassed by two other guests, racially and sexually. However, easily more upsetting was management's handling of the situation. We had expressed to the bartender our concerns, and he brushed it off, saying he couldn't do anything but would get the manager at his convenience. Unfortunately, the harassers were never removed from the premises. After they left (on their own after half an hour and disrespecting our group as laid out above), we confronted the manager again, upset that he didn't have them removed like we asked. We tried our best to convey the urgency and seriousness of the harassment, but he got in our faces and yelled that we had too much to drink. We each had one drink. He said he would kick us out. This was extremely infuriating. You said you didn't have the power to remove the racist and creepy men who threatened us but now you can remove us right away for being upset about it? Bullshit. We later talked to the manager, Duffy, about our experience. I cannot stress this enough, both him and the bartender fail to understand the experience and emotion of being the victim of harassment, either as a minority or as a woman. Both the fear it brings you and the anger you feel inside. I could not believe it when he, as a white man, said "yea i've faced racism too", and that we need to stop being so upset. You cannot speak for our, a minority, experiences. You cannot tell us not to be angry when facing the type of disrespect we just experienced. You say we were aggressive but you fail to understand we were upset and expressing our anger at the situation in which we were genuinely prejudiced against. You also accused a young woman for being agressive when she had to stand her ground to ask for help when she was being harassed by other men on the premises. When i expressed that it is the bartender's (and all of staff!) job to keep customers safe, he said "no its not his job. His job is to make drinks". This to me is extremely poor management. Yes his definition is to produce drinks. But as an employee of a public establishment serving guests of all kinds, there needs to be a standard upheld from ALL levels. What kind of establishment dismisses the safety of their customers? The security lead, Keith, ensured us that if there was a problem, we should notify him on the first floor. This was a very kind gesture, but also begs the question: why didn't the bartender point us to security or call them? Clearly, that would have been more effective than doing nothing. Not only was our group harassed unjustly by two guests, we were treated unfairly by the staff, who did nothing to remove the harassers and instead dismissed our pleas for help. It is their responsibility to keep customers safe from harassment!!! This is absolutely insane, and I hope the owners and management read this and UNDERSTANDS THE REASON FOR OUR COMPLAINTS AND ENSURES THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN, TO ANYONE. read more

This one of my go to going out spots in Bethesda - so take into account this ranking isn't for the going out/bar scene here which would be a 5 to me. This is for the restaurant aspect. I had never been here this early before but they had given us menus hoping entry so I went with a chicken Caesar salad. It was very good honestly l, a lot better than I had expected but still not anything crazy. Our server was very nice, and she consistently made sure we were all accommodated. Our first day in Maryland! Super fun town even though the heat it is crazy. after hours, we decided to go this place it looked fun, and we're hungry and couldn't wait to eat!l Upon arrival, we asked the security guard if it's open. My son is wearing a sleeveless shirt because it's so hot. He automatically says, "you can't come up in here with that shirt on". My son didn't understood what he said so we asked, "oh what? Me?" The security guard then stares at him for a few awkward seconds and says, "who else would I be talking to" The immediate aggression was off-putting, so we clarified that we are not from here, so we didn't know but by then, we felt so uncomfortable that we wanted to leave. As we're leaving, I said, "you know, you could be more polite or professional" and he gives us more attitude and aggression. Then, a group of young guys comes out of the elevator and saw us altercating with him and they also shared how he was Being rude and causing problems with them as well. Great dive bar with live music and surprisingly decent food - get the pretzel sticks! We enjoyed the live band performance on Friday night and there was no cover charge. The pretzel sticks were pipping hot and tasty with housemate beer cheese and honey mustard that I requested. Hubby got the chicken tenders that came with waffle fries (the waffle fries were tepid and brittle). There's an outdoor smoking area connected to the bar with a lingering smoke smell inside the bar. Whiskey and Ginger beer drink was standard. The DJ played a bunch of 80's and 90's hits with people in their 40's and 50's dancing the night away! There's also a pool table. Had a horrible experience here. Brought up to management and staff that another customer was harassing us. Instead of taking care of it, they continue to diminish the situation and then also make offensive comments towards us and refuse to handle the situation. The bartender called me aggressive and that I had too much to drink (less than half a beer btw) just because he can't handle a woman standing her ground and asking for protection from someone harassing them. The manager (I think his name was Duffy) handled it horribly and instantly got aggressive and said "how dare YOU give me demands" when I only asked for an apology from the bartender. It is pathetic that grown men in management are so delicate that they feel the need to physically intimidate a woman a foot shorter than them because they can't handle criticism and a woman speaking back to them. Weak and embarrassing manager and bartender, failed to address racism and sexual harassment in their establishment. If you want to watch two grown men have an absolute emotional meltdown because their fragile little egos were bruised this is the spot. read more

Ordered through DoorDash to my hotel which was close by. My food was ready right on time, and delivered to me shortly after. I got the California chicken sandwich I think it was called, and it was really good. The tater tots were crispy and delicious, even being ordered to go and delivered. I really enjoyed their homemade ranch, but I can't speak to the ambience of the restaurant since I dined in the hotel. Casual spot with a rooftop bar area! My gfs and I came here yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. Luckily there was a table available for us, since there were a good amount of people already there. Tables were far apart and all staff wore masks. It took over 20 mins before a server came over to our table, that is terrible! I saw the servers attending to other tables and did not even look in our direction when we tried flagging their attention. Food was okay (and came out fairly quick)--we ordered the chicken caesar salad, tater tots and crab bites. The drinks are generous with a good amount of liquor.
