Grabbed breakfast to go on a recent road trip and was glad we stopped there. Didn't get the diner atmosphere as we grabbed our order and hit the road but the omelettes were hearty, filling and delicious. Big portions - My wife saved half of hers and had it for lunch. This is the the "regular" joint of Walla Walla for breakfast. All walks of life come into this tiny joint and leave fully satisfied. Dont let its size scare you off however as there is never a wait longer than twenty minutes that I've experienced. Did I mention this is the perfect place to shake that next day funk as well? Strong coffee, thick bacon and good eggs with potatoes, everything a hungover body needs to jump start the day. I do love this place. Word of advice though, use the restroom before dining in. Everytime my husband comes to Walla Walla, he ALWAYS stops at Tommy's, it's just not an option to go anywhere else. He goes for the classic bacon and eggs and their homestyle fries. Everything is cooked perfectly, everytime. We stopped today, he had his regular and I enjoyed a patty melt, one of my guilty pleasures. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this little hole in the wall, greasy spoon. The only downfall? The service, our waitress was pleasant enough, but the hostess? Obviously she didn't want to be there. Eh? Every time I come to Walla Walla on business, I stop here for breakfast. Food is reasonably priced, delicious, and served in mass quantities. This time I ordered the meat lovers omelette, so tasty, so satisfying... The place has tons of character, and I felt quite comfortable eating among the mainly blue collar type crowd. Waitress is always refilling the coffee cup, and very friendly. Her banter with the regulars brought a smile to my face more than once. Looks like they installed new seats since I was here last, they are quite comfy. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I love this place. It was my hangover saving grace in college. I can even remember partying until 6 am, and then going to Tommy's for a can of Rainer Ale and some delicious sausage and eggs. The farmers looked at us with disdain, but we behaved ourselves, scarfed down the greasy pleasure sustenance, and slinked away to pass out and sleep off our diabolic, collegiate decision making. It's a pretty standard little diner. Food is just as you would expect. The hashbrowns were definitely the group favorite. Very large portion sizes. The bacon we got was definitely undercooked. If you like finding unique, out-of-the-way places to eat, then Tommy's Dutch Lunch might just be your idea of heaven. I've never had a bad meal here. Sometimes I've sat at the counter (5 seats in one section and 3 in the other? Maybe.) and had breakfast while watching the cook make the burger patties for lunch, and been so reassured to see him make them the way you or I would: from a bowl of ground beef, forming the patties by hand. Don't sit at the oval table just inside the door at breakfast: that's for the regulars, and you don't want to piss off the regulars. Make a date for Tommy's. read more

This place is amazing. I had one of the best breakfasts of my life here. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the history... it all makes for an experience you won't get in any other restaurant. Not as greasy as I thought it would be...a good thing. Long wait, went on a Sunday...my own fault. Pretty small place so don't go if you have a large group. Good size portions, great value for the price...but the food had some flavor too...did not all taste like grease...which is what I was expecting. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food, both kids and adults. Some local characters in there too...adds color to the place. The food and service are great and plentiful. You'll leave full. Meat omelet was quite good, as were the biscuits. The only negative was that the place could be warmer. One of the most disgusting places I have ever eaten at. With them having an open kitchen you can see everything they are doing and let me tell you they did everything wrong. There cook never went and washed his hands not once. Not to include that he broke one of the number one health code violations by using his bare hands on Ready-to-Eat Foods. Extremely disgusting to see him assembling your salad with his bare hands after he's just been handling raw Burger. All he would do is wipe his hands off on his white T-shirt. Can't even imagine how much cross-contamination took place. Not including the dishwasher would handle dirty dishes and also would not wash his hands after handling the dirty dishes but then handle clean dishes right afterwards. So I wonder how much bacteria was on his hands that are now on the clean plates. Nonetheless I did not end up eating my lunch but ended up calling the Health Department instead. read more

Stopped in on our way from Portland to Idaho. My wife and I both had the biscuits and gravy with the cubes hash browns. Twas absolutely amazing! Best we have had in a long time, and possibly better than our favorite biscuits and gravy spot in Portland. The place was busy, always a good sign of great food to come. Our waitress, I think her name was Klara, was excellent, great personality and superb recommendations. Very intuitive, and aware of the folks around. The owner came and introduced himself and was very friendly guy. It's a small town diner, with a lot of small town charm. Highly recommend it. Very reasonably priced. It doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be dismayed. They put a lot heart into it, and it shows. read more

When I was a young boy, my father taught me to look for where the locals eat, and you will find excellent food and service. Even though there is usually a wait in order to get seated, it is worth it. Really torn between 4 and 5 stars here. This is an old "greasy spoon" diner with great service and friendly, hardworking staff. A couple of kids behind the counter are Junior ROTC and were on the ball. They were working hard and were super polite. The coffee was kept fresh and the food arrived quickly despite being busy. Everything I ordered was solid. The cheese and mushroom omelet had plenty of cheese and fresh mushrooms. The French Toast was spot on and just as good as some I had eaten at a fancy downtown breakfast spot the day before. Was it the absolute best dinning experience I have ever had? probably not. But the quality of the food along with great service at a reasonable price means I would not hesitate to go back. read more

Okay I heard this place was a hidden gem so my husband and I went in and right away I was disgusted and wanted to leave. The carpet is filthy black and probably has mold in it. The booth was ripped up and covered with duct tape, and there was food in the crease between the wall and table. We did order to embarrassed to leave and the food was good nothing special but average. But I felt uncomfortable in the dirty environment. I will not return or recommend it to anyone. I took the advice of a fellow yelper and chose the home fries instead of the hashbrowns and they were pretty good. But no one at my table got hashbrowns so I had nothing to compare it to.
