If you want a quick snack or even a quick lunch at the San clemente Outlet I recommend this place as they have a pretty decent price and also the food is delicious with great portions! The staff were friendly and it is where you order first at the cashier and they will bring the food to your table. The ambiance if okay and the place was clean! They have more tables outside as well to seat if you want. I wish they had more food options! The TOMO fries were incredible with the extra kick and sauce on it! The potstickers were typical, the chicken teriyaki bowl was delicious the tempura green beans were great! And last but not least their Tomo Ramen were delicious!!! read more

After a full day at the pickleball tourney in San Clemente, I was looking for a good dinner. I found Tomo Noodles and Dumplings located at the Outlets at San Clemente and thought I give them a try. I came here about 15 or 30 mins before their closing time. Upon entry, I noticed a huge wall with some neat art which was nice. They have good amount of seating along the wall. I wanted to try their noodles and dumplings. The gentleman behind the counter informed me that they were getting ready to close so nothing was available except for a couple items. I ended up leaving. I really wanted to try their noodles and dumplings so I returned here the next evening. Same thing happened again, but this time I was here about one hour prior to closing. The same gentleman from the day before informed me that they either ran out of the noodles and dumplings or they just stopped selling them one hour before closing time which doesn't makes sense to me. They only had rice bowls left at the time... such a bummer! This time around I didn't leave. I ended up getting the chicken rice bowl. It tasted just okay. Nothing special about it. My overall experience was not the greatest. If their specialty are noodles and dumplings, you would think they should have them available for purchase up to closing time. I originally wanted to give them a 2 stars, but since the gentleman did give me a discount on my chicken rice bowl for the inconvenience, I bumped it up to 3 stars. Will I be back? We decided to check this spot out since there aren't a ton of food options in the outlets area. Most of us wanted to try their chicken katsu sandwich, but the guy said they only had one more bun left, so we were only able to get one. The katsu bowls instead were still pretty good. The place was empty. My dumplings came fast. Too fast. Server never checked to see if I needed anything even though I was the only customer in sight. I wanted to sit in the outdoor seating area but the tables and floor were filthy. No reason to go back. So many other noodle places around, like Min's for example, that are so much better. read more

Unfortunately, the dumplings we ordered were subpar. It felt like we paid for frozen dumplings from the Asian supermarket to be defrosted and prettied up. And, keeping in mind the dumplings were just ok- you are of course only given about 3 dumplings per order! The whole food experience was just sad. And honestly, the "chefs" behind the kitchen counter knew it too. The cashier/server was really friendly though and made the overall experience better. So that was a plus! read more

The workers were friendly and the order came out quick, however the dumplings themselves were only ok... I make better ones at home from Costco Ling Ling. Friendly service. Spacious both indoors and outdoors (seating). The menu is outdated though. Apparently, the shoyu egg is not standard in the Tonkotsu Ramen. I asked about it, so they honored it and supplied the egg after the fact. The portion is much smaller than other ramen places. They were completely out of all bottled pressed juices. The food here is delicious. The cook John was super friendly and took the time to explain how he prepares the meals. We specifically ordered the katsu bowl and the chicken was absolutely divine. It's the perfect amount of crispy while still being juicy and tender inside. The rice was cooked to perfection and the veggies were crunchy and fresh. We ended up coming back for seconds. Came in at 11:40 on a weekday. Empty, and the cook stayed 30 feet away from the counter, apparently summoning the cashier/order taker. She sauntered out, apparently busy with tasks more important than customers. The food was fine (salmon bowl, chicken bowl) but nothing special. Restaurants can survive with either superior service and mezzo food, or lower service and outstanding food (Soupman in NYC). But medium food with poor service? Formula for failure. Oh, and no paper towels in the restroom. First thing of the day. No attention to detail. You won't die if you eat there, but you won't enjoy it. read more

We decided to have lunch here after shopping at the outlet. What a big mistake! The food was mediocre. I ordered the chicken katsu plate and I was really disappointed. It basically tasted like cooked chicken with a bunch sauce poured over it. No taste at all. A couple who was seated next to us also ordered the same thing, I saw a disappointed look on their face as they tasted their food. For drinks, we ordered the pineapple mojito but looked nothing like the picture. It was not even yellow in color. It looked like a regular ice tea but didn't taste like it. I had no clue what is it. Service was slow. It took about 20 minutes just to get our food. To top all off, they forgot to give us the pineapple mojito until I asked for it. The staff which consisted of high school/college kids were not very enthusiastic and not friendly at all. It seemed like they were not happy with their jobs by the look on their faces. I would definitely not recommend this place. read more

It wasn't busy this early, but it started to get busier after 5:30pm. We started out with the four piece jalapeno poppers ($10). These were very good. Lately I've been coming on Tuesdays to take advantage of their all-day Happy Hour, which is one of the best in town. Crispy carnitas tacos and the hibiscus margaritas are my go-to's, and the fresh chips and salsa served gratis are always delicious and hot. I wanted to take a moment to shout out their fantastic team of servers and bussers especially. Luna, Lindsay and Cesar have all been exceptional servers; their knowledge of the menu and their genuine kindness makes our visits that much more memorable. I don't often catch the name of the bussers, but they are extremely good at what they do. There's a few restaurants in town that hire staff and don't seem to train them well, so they struggle and it's apparent... but that's not the case here at Asada, where everyone is professional and really go above and beyond. It's easy to see how well their service flows (although the host stand could benefit from having people who are more outgoing; they seem to have timid people up there a lot, and it can be awkward when they're too timid to properly greet guests--just something I've noticed, having worked in restaurants before I tend to be hyper-aware of such things). My favorite section to get seated is the booths near the back which tend to be quieter, and also offer a nice view of the sky during the sunset and evening hours especially.

I recently visited Tomo Noodles and Dumplings, located in San Clemente, and overall, it was a great experience. I had the veggie and chicken ramen along with pot stickers, and both were delicious! The tempura green beans were mid. The savory broth in the ramen was comforting, but next time, I plan to ask for the spicy broth for a bit more of a kick. After trying (and loving!) the Vegas location, I knew I had to stop in while doing some Christmas shopping in San Clemente. Turns out they just opened this location and it was super busy. This restaurant has the same cool aesthetic as the other one but the ordering process is a little different. This one is more of a quick serve. It wasn't busy this early, but it started to get busier after 5:30pm. We started out with the four piece jalapeno poppers ($10). These were very good. The jalapenos were crisp, stuffed with cream cheese, with two sauces drizzled on top. I think there was also a little spicy tuna on top. Next, we ordered a California roll ($8) and a spicy tuna roll ($9). These were good standard rolls with fresh ingredients, and reasonably priced, especially for the area. They have a menu of chef's special rolls which sounded good, and we decided to try the Pink Lady (Inside: Shrimp, Crab, Spicy Tuna, Avocado, Outside: Salmon, Jalapeno, Lemon, Soy Paper, Mustard Ponzu, $20). It might seem a little expensive, but it a roll with no rice. It was excellent, and well worth the money. If you love citrus like I do, you have to try it. I have never had pink lemon before. It's still tart but sweeter than a yellow lemon and less sweet than a Meyer lemon. Our server was friendly, and our food arrived promptly. We would return again when in the area. The only downside is that the restaurant is small. If the dining room is full, you may have to wait a while to be seated.
