Really cool hipster brewery in the surf ghetto. My son was across the street at Fight Strong and I thought hey I've been reading about this place and I just moved to the neighborhood. I had to check it out. Really cool vibe when I walked in as I grabbed a beer at the counter. I think it was 16 ounces and I think it was $10. Felt a little bit expensive. Maybe I'm just getting old and everything seems expensive. Tasted solid. I wish I had some more healthier food varieties and everything wasn't fried in the fryer, but still a really cool place. Heard this place has a "Taco Tuesday" but it's literally just a menu they serve on Tuesdays... Idk why the menu posted on their website has no prices listed but anyways, we came wanting a quick bite. The place was packed and majority of the people come for drinks. I got a carne asada and al pastor taco priced at $4 each. Rest of the group ordered chicken taquitos, burrito, fish taco, and birria taco. The food was incredibly mid. I appreciated the thick homemade tortilla and the hefty filling, but the meat was bland and everything looked better than it tasted. Also, pass on the fish taco, it is a wimpy piece of fish on top of a bed of cabbage. Ugh so disappointing, but it has a cool open concept and definitely a fun spot to hang out. Neither of us had been before, but it was conveniently located and looked nice--clean, open, airy, and not too crowded on a Thursday around noon. We sat at the bar, but didn't actually end up trying any of the beers (although I thought about it). We opted for Diet Cokes instead--maybe next time. I had the veggie sandwich with fries, and my friend had the cheeseburger and fried cheese curds. All were really delicious, the fries being especially good. We agreed that the cheese curds might've been too much for us. I don't know what we were thinking, ordering DEEP FRIED CHEESE--maybe that we were still teenagers?! Talk about a place with the perfect beach town vibe. It's all open air with indoor and outdoor dining spaces being seamless. There's a bar to sit at right next to where you order. Staff does their best to keep the outside area clean but, they appeared to be short staffed during our visit. They do have a cute feature - they offer postcards for free, fill them out there and drop with the cashier before you leave and the mail them for free! Crisp and clean. The kind that revives you after too much small talk and forced cheer. Dog friendly. Emotional support dogs everywhere. Morale improved instantly. Healing occurred. I think even my dog healed. Kind date. Noteworthy. Handled my exhausted, mildly feral energy with care and grace. (he bought me beers) I was gifted a Mexican lager from a kind beertender after closing. Unexpected. Generous. Tear-inducing. It was the plot twist that redeemed the entire evening. Despite the hunger, fatigue, and being one mild inconvenience away from ghosting the whole night, this ended up being a genuinely lovely experience. The beer, the staff, and the warmth of the place did all the heavy lifting. Would absolutely return-- But next time, I'm making very sure the kitchen is open :) P.S. Hello We come to San Clemente 3 to 4 times a year and thought we'd check this place out . My husband ordered the cheeseburger and it was sub par, the arugula was a nice touch but it had very little cheese. I had the Bavarian pretzel and cheese curds, the cheese curds were just ok, the pretzel I am pretty sure s had been reheated in the microwave which made it chewy . I didn't eat it, pretzels need to be reheated in an oven or kept in a climate controlled warmer so they aren't chewy and hard to eat. What was really disappointing was the waitress/cashier. It was obvious we had not been here before and we weren't welcomed upon arrival , we sat down first and she didn't greet us or let us know we were supposed to order at counter. We got up and asked. We met my brother here for a catch up session. I wasn't aware this place existed but it was busy on a Friday evening. A hidden gem that only the locals know about! They have good beer, great service and surprisingly the food is pretty good.
