For the chef to make whatever is available on the menu. My family isn't one to make a scene so we let the server know that it was fine and we would order something else. The restaurant is small enough that you hear every exchange and when our server went back to give our order the two chefs spoke to each other in Spanish and then to the server in english. My family and I are filipino but unfortunately for the chefs in the back I do understand Spanish and all I will say is that they were definitely giving our server a hard time. I try my best to be very gracious because you never know what someone is going through but I will stay true to my experience and what I witnessed. I personally do not condone any bullying and so I really did not appreciate the way they were treating our server or the effect it had on our dining experience. Won't be returning to this location.

It wasn't busy this early, but it started to get busier after 5:30pm. We started out with the four piece jalapeno poppers ($10). These were very good. The jalapenos were crisp, stuffed with cream cheese, with two sauces drizzled on top. I think there was also a little spicy tuna on top. Next, we ordered a California roll ($8) and a spicy tuna roll ($9). These were good standard rolls with fresh ingredients, and reasonably priced, especially for the area. They have a menu of chef's special rolls which sounded good, and we decided to try the Pink Lady (Inside: Shrimp, Crab, Spicy Tuna, Avocado, Outside: Salmon, Jalapeno, Lemon, Soy Paper, Mustard Ponzu, $20). It might seem a little expensive, but it a roll with no rice. It was excellent, and well worth the money. If you love citrus like I do, you have to try it. I have never had pink lemon before. Heritage is located in downtown SJC, with plenty of street parking around the area. On the topic of waiting, they tend to get very busy around lunch time and on the weekends, so plan your visit accordingly (you can order stuff online in advance, so I'd recommend trying that too). I came about 15 minutes after opening and waited for about 30 minutes (the heat today sucked, but it wouldn't be a terrible wait on a normal day). On the food front, I tried the Tri-Tip, Brisket, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Baby Back Ribs, Sausage of the Day, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad. The Tri-Tip was the best I've ever had (it was insanely tender and flavorful), and the Brisket was the best I've had in California (super flavorful and tender).
