I have found a new go-to takeout/delivery sushi spot! I've been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad I did. There are so many options to choose from on the menu. I tried the Philadelphia, spicy crunch salmon, and spicy tuna sandwich rolls. I think that the salmon in the Philly roll was fresh as opposed to the typical smoked and I loved that! Updating my previous review with more sushi options. I bought the Big Mama, Spicy Salmon and California Roll. The Big Mama is very tasty and probably my favorite option but it's so hard to choose! This option contains seaweed, sushi rice with vinegar, sesame seeds, 2pcs shrimp tempura, and spicy crab topped with 8pcs shrimp shumai, spicy mayo, and special sauce. The dumpling and sushi combination makes this option very filling! The sushi is very large and the dumplings are about half the size. The flavor of the rice is so good, it really sets the sushi off. I'll definitely get this option again. The spicy salmon was also delicious. It contains seaweed, sushi rice with vinegar, sesame seeds, spicy salmon and cucumber topped with seaweed salad. The seaweed option on top was my favorite. It added such a refreshing flavor. I usually just get seaweed salad on the side but I'll try more seaweed sushi combinations. I ordered the giant $165 party tray to-go that came with 100+ pieces of roll sushi, nigiri sushi, and sashimi. The delivery was excellent, as they restaurant even put a giant bag of ice on top to ensure that it stayed cool on the 20+ minute drive to my hotel from the restaurant. My family and I were absolutely blown away with the quality of fish here. In fact, one of my family members thought I was lying about the cost of the party tray given the taste and freshness overall! Of course, this isn't just "good sushi for the price" but definitely a step above the average sushi place, and the incredible value is just a plus. While everything was very good, I have to draw attention to the various tuna cuts that we were provided. If there's anything that I have to complain about in most sushi places outside of Japan is that the quality of tuna is always quite low, with a mushy texture and not much taste. That was not the case here--we were absolutely thrilled at how good the tuna was! The only complaint I would have is that the rolls themselves are not wrapped all that carefully, and there's quite some variation in size and ingredient distribution. This isn't something that bothers me all that much since I'm not really paying for presentation when it comes with a to-go order, but if you are dead set on having your sushi look good too, this might not be the place for you. read more

Tomo has been a staple in Upper Darby so I expect consistency when I order here. My sushi was packaged nicely and tasted fresh. The Shumai was brown as if it had been fried. It was not tasty at all. First time here, sort of a mixed review. I didn't try the sushi. I had Japanese style beef curry, it came with shrimp tempura. It reminded me of a stew or soup, the curry was mild. The shrimp were crisp and tasty. I also tried the chicken teriyaki. It came with vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura, gyoza, salad,and miso soup. The chicken was dry and not seasoned. Instead they offered sauce to pour over. The tempura veggies were good, sweet potato and taro. The salad was crisp, and tiny with a flavorful ginger dressing. I gotta admit, it was surprising to find genuinely good sushi in the H Mart food court. At any sushi place, I always order the most basic of things to figure out how good a job they're doing. Anyone can drown the flavor of day-old fish and poorly made rice in avocado, mayonnaise, and hot pepper. These guys got it pretty much right. Rice was good quality, cooked well, and blended with just the right amount of rice vinegar. Sweetness was spot on. Fish was fresh and good. Only thing I could possibly complain about was that their soy sauce is Kikkoman or something similar. Best of all, overhead is low so prices are great. Unfortunately, the rolls are always sloppily prepared (uneven cuts of fish and sushi pieces that are completely fallen apart) Additionally, the prices to add avocado in the roll are astronomical. While a salmon roll is $4.50, a salmon avocado rolls is double that. Service is also a hit or miss. I've waited over 40 minutes in the food court once for my order. It seems their space and staff don't meet the busy demand. I've also paid an extra $1 for a side of spicy Mayo for delivery multiple times and they never include it which is disappointing. The 2 things I commend about this restaurant is that they have generous portion sizes (the cuts of fish are decent) and the "Buy 2 get 1 roll free" deal on Wednesdays is worthwhile! read more

Been wanting to try this place but honestly when I did I was not impressed. I can't find a great sushi place in this area and am exhausting the options here. For me, rolls that are overly dressed with sauces, crunch, etc just mask the quality of the fish. When I try something with spicy tuna and the tuna is NOT spicy, it leaves something to be desired. We came here on Wednesday during the Buy 2 Get 1 free special. It's roughly $21 total for 3 special rolls. We ordered 6 rolls, with 4 being varying tempura shrimp combinations. They were all fantastical crunchy. They have a huge menu that's delightfully overwhelming. My personal favorite is the Mango Tempura shrimp. My dinning partner and I both enjoyed the Red Scorpion with the three tempura shrimps on top. Each one of our ingredients were fresh and delicious. The service was very courteous and fast. The only thing I would say is that they have a lot of repeating tempura options and a lot of them seem to be the same. This place is special roll heaven, located in the food court up in Hmart's second level. There's more than 45 special rolls you can choose from, special roll meaning those pretty, sauce drizzled, select meat and avocado/cucumber stuffed inside and out, artistry-on-a-plate kind of roll. Of course, they do serve sushi nigri and regular rolls as well (seaweed outside). Quick edit, they do sell a la carte pretty cheap! As others have said before, there is a "buy two get one free" deal on every Wednesday. I come here frequently, probably every two or three weeks (although lately it's been every week) for the past two years. The chefs are incredibly nice and always engage in small talk. The special rolls itself are pretty to look at. I'd say Tomo specializes in mainly just special rolls. It's unusual to me because all other sushi places I've been to have only 10-20 special rolls to choose from, and they're usually the staple/simple rainbow roll, an assortment of deep fried rolls, spicy crunchy tuna/salmon/yellow-tail, some roll with pink soy paper wrap outside, and etc. Tomo beats everyone else in variety, creativity, as well as presentation, for sure. The fish is fairly fresh. They also serve you miso soup for free as well! Overall, it's a solid choice in a quick fix for your sushi cravings. I chose to give Tomo a try based on the Yelp rating and the great review by Vanessa W. Intrigued by my curiosity of setting sushi on fire, I described to the chef what I had read and was told it is a sushi roll filled with crab and tuna called, "Kiss of Fire". Nothing was out of the ordinary as they prepared the roll, but then they poured some fluid on a plate and lit it ablaze! After a few minutes cooking in this manner, the fire went out and I began to dig in. The first bite was a little smoky and not what I was accustomed to in my sushi. I had to pause for a moment and determine whether I had chosen the wrong dish for the sake of the presentation. By the third bite, I had become accustomed to the taste and found it delightful. It grew on me very quickly. Needless to say, I had no problems finishing the rest of it. I just brought my wife here, and now she is hooked. The Spicy California Roll may not be "real sushi" to many people, but damn it tastes good! And the wife highly enjoyed a huge bowl of spicy chicken noodles. Well, she enjoyed half of it. A doggie bag was required. Not a bad thing at all. I live in northern liberties philadelphia and regularly get delivery from here even though it can take 1.5 hours sometimes. WORTH IT. This place has quickly become one of my favorites for sushi. A friend recommend them once and I've been hooked ever since. I love that they offer delivery via Door Dash and Uber Eats for when I'm feeling lazy, most of the time I call ahead and just pick it up. The price is great and the food is fresh, delicious, and I've never had an order take longer than 15-20 minutes to make. They're menu is HUGE and I do wish they had pictures for the delivery apps, but even then I've never had something I didn't like. The first couple of times I would go off recommendations from others but now I just read what sounds good and try something new every so often. My favorite is the Big Mama. I was wary of paying $16 for 8 pieces of sushi but it is so filling and so delicious I don't mind anymore and get it often. This place is -fantastic-. I learned about it from this very web site. A friend and myself had been searching high and low for a place that served Okonomiyaki. It's a dish served at a Japanese place in our home town and we were in love with it all through high school. The restaurant closed down, my friend has since moved to Philadelphia and I am in Lancaster, but we didn't have much luck in our oko searches. Yelp to the rescue! We had a bit of a hard time finding the place, but when we finally arrived, we were not disapointed. The sushi was amazing! Fresh, buttery, beautifully presented and most importantly, delicious. We got several rolls and the Tomo special bento box. Of course, we also got an oko, and it was like taking a bite back in time. We demolished the entire meal, much to the surprise of the gentleman behind the counter. He was amazing as well. The service there is really top notch and everyone is SUPER friendly and pleasant. To finish the meal, we wanted some green tea ice cream mochi's, but he said his were old and didn't want to serve us sub par product. Instead, he gave us each a melon pop at no charge! the prices here are very decent and depending on what you are in the mood for, you can spend anywhere from $10 to $40, easily. Thanks to the truly wonderful service and scrumptus food, we came back again a few months later. We didn't see okonomiyaki on the special board, so I inquired about it. The same gentleman confirmed they still had it and then recognized us! It was a real treat to be remembered, especially since we'd only been there once before. The sushi and oko was just as delicious this time as last time. We did have to take some home, however, because I had gotten bibimbap from a different restaurant (Jian Korean Food) and it was rather filling. After mentioning this, the gentleman (I wish I knew his name! I think he may be the owner?) went on to recomment two other dishes from Jian for us to try next time! I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is superb and the service is really out of this world.
