I generally get takeout and the food is so amazing I go in...and have no pictures. I'll update and do so. Order the spring rolls! These are a so bomb and the dipping sauce is so perfect. I normally get the Bun with noodles; do the combo steak and shrimp. This is so good for a light but filling meal. The portions are great so you'll have a bit more for later. That's always a plus. The BEST vietnamese food we have ever had. Flavorful and hearty veggie summer rolls with a delicious spicy and savory dipping sauce, and incredible vegetarian pho for me - the broth was full of complex flavor and generously portioned. And hubby ordered tofu with ginger and vegetables over rice and ate every single bite while saying he was "so full" halfway through his plate. A lovely family owned hole in the wall with a friendly server who is clearly proud of having this place for the past 30 years. We started with a complimentary lettuce salad topped with a generous serving of refreshing ginger dressing and bean sprouts. It was light and balanced and a good way to jumpstart the palate. Next we had the spring rolls which our server said we just had to get. And they were authentic and delicious. I always prefer rice based wrappers as they bubble up nicely when fried and are flakier than the thicker wonton wrappers. The pork and noodles inside were nicely flavored and just lovely. And the serving is ginormous. Perfect for four, quite a lot for two for an appetizer. The small pho is quite generous, packed with noodles. The broth is good, flavorful, not too heavy handed. I had the house one with rare slices of beef round, brisket which was quite tender, and stomach, and it came with quite fresh bean sprouts and herbs. It hit the spot. The bun rice noodle bowl with grilled pork was fine but too light on the veggies. I was surprised it came with a small amount of cabbage and not lettuce. Mainly noodle and pork, which could have been more glazed and slightly less cooked. Still a worthy road trip stop and for the spring rolls alone I'd return! read more

Small little family owned restaurant with incredibly friendly owners! Loved eating there. The large portions are perfect for a cold rainy day- broth is savory and not too heavy. The noodles soak up the flavor and sprinkle a little thai basil and lime juice in there and you see golden. The hot coffee with condensed milk is also splendid and packs a huge caffeine punch to get you through the day- would recommend! Excellent, and worth a drive. Our lunch started with a delicious and zesty ginger salad. The spring rolls (ch giò) were my favorite dish - crunchy outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside). The pork vermicelli noodle bowl (bún tht nng) was tasty too, though the pork could have used a tad more flavor, and the pickled vegetables (đ chua) weren't very pungent. It's not on a beautiful block, and there's no parking lot, but the inside of the restaurant is comfortable. read more

What a great find!!! It's a small not very attractive restaurant in Upper Darby. Wow the neighborhood has changed ( I used to live a few blacks away 30 years ago) with ethnic restaurants of every sort lining the streets. The owner waited on us and he could not have been nicer. As for the food.. some dishes were the best I've had. The Ban Xoe (crispy crepe) was amazing !! The spring rolls just as good. The grilled grape leaves yummy as well as the noodle bowl with beef. I didn't love the texture of the grilled meatballs. So... a super high positive review for the food. Prices are extremely reasonable. If you are gluten free you will be happy happy happy. read more

I know I said this not more than a year ago with regards to another restaurant, but as I get new information my opinions change. This is, without a doubt, the best Vietnamese food I've had anywhere in the area, and only narrowly outclassed by a place I tried in SF. It's possible there might be somewhere better in the Philly area, but a dozen visits to various places haven't teased out the existence of one so far. The family who own the place are pretty friendly, but expect to need to flag someone down to speak to them or order, they're usually busy. Regarding food; the pho is good, but that's relatively easy to find elsewhere. Two things here really, really shine. One is the banh mi; I can't but think of it as a Vietnamese hoagie, but what is really is is the bastard child of French and Vietnamese cuisine from the colonial era, and a very fortunate one indeed. Little Saigon makes a very good (if not quite as good as the best we had in Saigon) roast pork banh mi. The other are the main courses; excellent crispy noodles, claypot-stewed meats, and skewers. There's one particular dish I'm forgetting, but that's just an excuse to go back again to refresh my memory. read more

While in Upper Darby for a show at the Tower Theater, Yelp lead me to Little Saigon - and it did not disappoint! Like many other reviews mention, it is an underrated gem - incredibly crisp spring rolls, the nicest staff & owners, and a menu that spans familiar dishes and new ones to try. We split the spring rolls and then I ordered the Deluxe Beef Noodle Soup (small) - which has beef, brisket, and tripe (although I think I didn't get any tripe...) The food was delicious and I loved how simple the soup was. Can't wait to find myself back at Little Saigon! read more

If you are looking for unique little BYOBs, the Terminal Square area of Upper Darby should be on your list. I've lived in nearby Havertown for 16 years but it's only the last few that I've been sucked into its charms. Little Saigon is a great example. When a restaurant has been around for close to twenty years you know they must be doing something right. That's confirmed when you see that all of the Yelp Reviews are 4s and 5s. It's a tiny place that is unbelievably clean and neat. If you have been to some of the hole-in-the-wall places in Philly's Chinatown, this is a much nicer experience. The food here is a great value. The most expensive thing on the menu is #50. The Little Saigon Special is a chicken beef and pork shish-kabob and spring roll combination that is served with a salad and rice. It is absolutely delicious and is $12.95. The spring role is amazing. Everyone raves about the spring rolls in Chinatown's Vietnam. These are as good if not better. If you stop in I'm betting you'll become one of their many repeat customers. read more

This little place was way out of my hood. Dropped by for lunch with some friends (after searching on yelp for local eats). We got there around 430p so we were the only ones there. Server was very nice. I don't think I ever had Pho before. I yelped a few reviews to see if there was any indication as to what I should order. Everyone said PHO...but not by name. And those who listed menu items by number need to quit because i think they re-numbered the menu. I ended up getting the Pho with the beef, brisket and tripe (Am I the only one who likes tripe? I must be). We also ordered the spring roll as I read that was tasty. The meal was filling. I enjoyed the spring roll and the dipping sauce it came with. We all got variations of the Pho...I think both my friends ended up getting the beef and beef balls one. Overall, a decent meal for a cheap price. Can't beat that with a bat. read more

Best Spring Rolls you will ever experience! I love this little hidden gem. I have been to Little Saigon 3 times and decided to finally share my thoughts on the place. Parking: there is a parking lot across the street which you might have to pay for. I usually park at the metered spots along the side where H-Mart is. 25 cents gets you 45 minutes. Service: this is a mom and pop place. When you first get there you will be greeted right away. Getting a table is fast. The initial order takes a little bit longer to happen than most places. This doesn't bug me. I just want to note here that it is normal. Don't be concerned. It is worth the wait. The staff is very kind and helpful. Price: awesome! This place is not pricy at all. Somehow I'm always surprised that the dish I've ordered which seems so plain and simple, is always so unbelievably delicious. This restaurant, in upper Darby, is nothing to write home about when considering atmosphere because it's kind of a dive... but the food makes up for everything. We were going to a concert at the Tower theater and found our way up to Little Saigon for a quick BYOB authentic Vietnamese meal.I would recommend coming here and will come back when I go back to the Tower theater. read more

I'm so glad I live close by. The owners are so personable. I've been coming here for years, and they know exactly what I order every time (pan fried noodles). One time I was there with my mom, a few minutes had passed after we ordered, and my food already came out. I told the owner/husband, "That was fast!" And he replied, "Yeah, my wife saw you walk in and started cooking your noodles" (before I put my order in). Ahhhh, they know me so well ;) Even though I order the same thing most of the time, I've tried a lot of the items on the menu. I haven't eaten anything here that was disappointing. Everything I eat here is delicious! Other than my usual pan fried noodles, I highly recommend the stuffed grape leaves, spring rolls, fish in a pot, pho, coconut drink, and rainbow ice. The restaurant is small, so it can get packed quickly especially at peak times for lunch/dinner, but you never feel neglected. The service is great, even if they're busy. Great people, great food. I've been going to this little hole in the wall with my family since I was in elementary school, for over 20 years now! The great food and the warm and welcoming service have kept us coming back. When you enter Little Saigon, they treat you like you are guests in their own home. Having been to ~30 vietnamese restaurants across the country, I can tell you that I've found no other restaurant in the Philadelphia area that compares when it comes to the fresh, homemade, authentic quality of the food. I've only been to restaurants in Minneapolis and Hoboken, New Jersey that compare (and Little Saigon even beats those). The crispy spring rolls are, no exaggeration, one of the best food items you can in any restaurant, anywhere. I often crave them and usually stop in to get a couple of orders whenever visit my parents. The owner once explained to me that they are his mother's recipe. They are unique to this restaurant with great flavor and texture while every other place is nearly identical. this item is a MUST-TRY! little tip: grow a pair and throw a little hot chili oil into the accompanying sauce. If you are new to viet food.... dont smell the sauce, just eat it! yes, it stanks! youll grow to love it over time. Briefly, my other favorites are their house special pan fried noodles, grilled pork over rice w a fried egg and a runny yolk bringing all that goodness together! needless to say, their pho is on point! Little Saigon is a BYO and the owners are sincerely so gracious and welcoming! The crispy spring rolls that are better than any you've ever had before. Each meal comes with a salad with a peanut-ginger dressing and bean sprouts that is delicious. How sad were the days when I was stuck in the suburbs and I was hungover (ahem, i mean sick). There was no cure for me; no panacean pho nearby that would take away my pounding headahce, cold sweats and sensitivity to bright lights. Happy day for me that this is no longer the case now that I have discovered Little Saigon. Crispy Spring Rolls Little Saigon is one of the few places I've encountered that use the rice wrapper to roll up their spring rolls and deep fry them (It seems many just use wonton wrapper variants). Anyway, it makes a huge difference in that the rolls stay super crispy and the meat inside is juicy and flavorful. It really helps the wrapper: meat ratio to work perfectly and at ~$5.50 for 3 whole pieces, cut up, this is a great deal and obviously a MUST ORDER every time. Pho Tai My go-to pho dish - it really makes the broth the centerpiece. The broth here is meaty, flavorful and complex. One of my friends has argued that the broth is on the salty side, but I disagree - that probably means you're not dropping in enough jalapeno and lime juice. sidenote, the last time I got takeout, they gave me a lemon instead of a lime. I suspect this was some sort of lime shortage they were experiencing, but it was definitely odd. Not terrible, but just odd. The customer service here is wonderful. The owner and his staff are so gracious and friendly and accommodating that it's absolutely adorable. I'm continually surprised by how smiley I am when leaving this place. They lose a star because I don't know that the rice dishes are GREAT here, but definitely super solid all around. Reality check: Is this my FAVE spot? Not necessarily, but outside of downtown or Wash Ave, this is most certainly an impressive offering. read more

The owners are warm and welcoming and the place feels like you're sitting in their kitchen for a meal, in the absolute best way possible. The menu is authentic and fairly priced, with lots of variety. Although there are many options, I am a creature of habit and always get the Bun (#12) with delicious vermicelli noodles over fresh veggies and topped with smokey bbq'd pork and crispy spring rolls. Perfect serving size for a dinner and you can always try some of the unique appetizers to add to the meal. I would recommend the meatballs that come with rice paper wrappers you make yourself, which also makes eating more of an activity, which of course I love. Little Saigon is such an amazing little dive and the total dining experience no matter what you order: service, food, and atmosphere (and it's BYOB, too).
