I've used Tom's several times in the last few years, and three (3) times in the last three (3) months or so, for routine service, and vehicle upgrades, like struts, headlight assemblies, etc. Their labor prices are fair market, and they're one (1) of the few places that will install parts you supply, although they will not warranty parts you bring in (which is pretty standard). Also, in my experience they largely operate solely on a show-up, first come, first serve system. Following my reading of these reviews, I detected a similar observation. Tom's was NOT in the wrong. Waited for a tow truck from 2:30p- 8:30 pm. Estimate was max 2 hours. Couldn't get anyone on the phone. Trackers said someone was coming. Waited patiently. I don't know what was worse, needing a tow or dealing with Tom's. To make matter worse when I finally got someone on the line after 30 minutes @ 6:54pm on 4/21/26 and got an update, it was to the minute the same update I had been given 96 mins ago, 47 mins. I told her I thought something was wrong and maybe I could get a new driver. She said something out of line to me, then hung up. Visiting Mississippi in September when it's 90+ degrees outside and your A/C decides to quit working isn't fun. I called around to a few places and they were not able to fit me in until 2 weeks down the road. I called Tom's and they told me to bring it in first thing the next morning. They kept it for about 6+ hours and fixed it right up. The staff was friendly and the price was reasonable. Honestly, just to have cold air, I would've paid anything. we called roadside assistance for a tow- they hired these guys out. roadside assistance told us it was $0 but their agent put wrong information in tow truck driver confirmed location with us and we told him it was wrong we call roadside and they say their agent made a mistake- it would be $202 not free we cancel tow and tell tow truck driver he impounded our vehicle.... so now our broke down vehicle is an impounded vehicle Dane at Tom's hung up on us while we were trying to tell him what happened. read more

Just look at the Better Business Bureau rating: F i used these folks because I have AAA membership. They used to be a good shop when Mr Jeff was alive. Had all of my company and personal vehicles serviced there - including body work. They are now rude and inept. I don't pay money to be insulted. Mike and associates are the epitome of poor customer service. I was contacted today to renew my AAA membership. My transmission went out on my Ford Explorer. I called Geico Roadside Assistance and Tom's accepted the tow with a 45 minute ETA. After 2 hours and still no tow truck I called their dispatch. Was told by the dispatcher that the tow truck was in Cherokee, Alabama and would be another 30 minutes. Tom's knew when they accepted the tow it would be longer than 45 minutes. I could have got one of the tow companies I work with everyday to tow it and got Geico to reimburse me. I have called Geico and filled a complaint. They have noted in my account to use a different provider from now on. PS. It's been 30 minutes since I called dispatch and he still isn't here. read more

It looked like someone was looking for something in my vehicle, possible theft. Glove compartment left open with all my paperwork on the seat and floor, jack missing, and baby car seat was no longer fastened down. Very unprofessional. The driver seemed like it was an inconvenience for him to get paid to do his job. The only reason I used them is because it went through my insurance. Took them over an hour to go 1.5 miles down the road to pick up the vehicle. After I called to confirm they were getting it because it had been an hour. He called me back and had an attitude on the phone asking more questions about the vehicle and where it was located. The driver then got an attitude because I parked in front of the vehicle needing to be towed in a secondary vehicle. As it was the safest place to park on the side of the road at a busy intersection. He loaded up and left with the vehicle without confirming the address of where it was going. Luckily I had someone at the house to make sure it got to the destination unharmed. Next time I will pay out of pocket to have my vehicle towed. This is not the first bad experience we have had with this company but it will be the last. read more

My car's check engine sign was on last week so I took it to Tom's auto services for a regular check. They were supposed to diagnose what was wrong with the engine and inform me of the issue. That was the only service I requested. However, after checking the engine, they turned off the check engine sign without my permission. I was not told until it was done. And it was too late. My car's powertrain is still under warranty so I can take it to the dealer and get it fixed for free. However, without the check engine sign on, the dealer won't fix it. It would cost $1000+ to fix it and my warranty will expire in a few months. They told me they could not fix it and ask me to take it to the dealer. BUT THEY TURNED OFF MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!! How can I get it fixed without the light on??? It's not their first day in business and they should know the consequences of what they did to my car. They left me in a very risky situation and my engine could die any time after my warranty expires. I COULD HAVE HAD IT FIXED FOR FREE!! Now I probably have to pay more than $1000 to fix it in the future. What really makes me mad is their attitude toward resolving the issue. There were ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They were extremely rude when I tried to approach them about the issue a few days. My check engine sign was off and I wasn't even sure if it's safe to drive my car anymore. They wouldn't admit that what they've done puts my car in a dangerous situation. And they also tried to sabotage my car in order to turn the check engine light on!!!! WTF?! I stopped them immediately after I found out. The manager said 'Since you are already unhappy with us, you won't come back anyways" I said "Yea, I would never come back" Then he said "Then why are you still here?! Leave now!!" Do not bring your car here for repairs! All the horror stories you have heard about this place are true. I had my car towed here by AAA because it wouldn't start. They replaced the starter and charged me $375. I payed by CC over the phone and picked it up after they had closed for the day. I immediately noticed my "service engine soon" light was on, it had never been on before. I took it back the next day for them to see what had happened and they told me that I needed additional repairs and got an estimate for $1300. I told him that my engine light had not been on before and he told me that it must have been, implying that I was lying about it. I took my car to Johnsons automotive and showed him my estimate, he called it ridiculous and told me he would turn my engine light off for me. From now on, I go to Johnsons. I will be lodging a complaint with AAA for endorsing this place and never bring my car here again. read more

I have NEVER publicly left a negative review for a company for many reasons but I feel compelled to share this one due to the extremity of my experience. Last week, I decided to escalate a dispute regarding insurance for repairs done on my vehicle because I was having trouble reaching a satisfactory resolution. The dispute was over a door that was replaced but was not authorized by insurance. The insurance company communicated multiple times with the shop that they did not intend to pay to replace the $1,200 door, only repair it. However, the shop opted to replace it anyhow without my permission. They stand firm that they felt it was the right thing to do. (by the way, there was only minor damage done to the door). I requested that the owner call me to discuss the situation. She finally called me today. Immediately she made assumptions about the purpose of my request to speak to her and would not allow me even a word to clear up my intentions. I was told to "stop interrupting her" when I would try to speak. She was HIGHLY EMOTIONAL from the start - very defensive, and was yelling at me... yes, practically screaming in the phone. After being insulted and hung up on 3 times, I was absolutely dumbfounded. I understand that this is an unfortunate situation for all involved due to the accident and then the insurance dispute but I reached out hoping to come to a reasonable resolution, explore options, or at minimum gain a better understanding through review of correspondence. Instead, I was spoken to like dirt by the owner. I'm disappointed that one of our local companies treats customers like this. Tupelo consumers deserve better! I do not trust Tom's Automotive due to the lack of professionalism and ethics I witnessed today and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Sent here by State Farm to have my vehicle repaired. To get here it takes me 30 minutes one way. I call the day in advance to make sure they can take my vehicle at 12pm. The next morning I get everything set up with the rental car company. I show up at the appointed time and everything is a mess. They don't have my paper work. They don't have anyone that can look at my car because they all left for an hour. Then they tell me that they can't even take my car for over a week. Poor communication skills can only lead to poor work. If you can't even set up and maintain a basic appointment why would I trust you to fix my vehicle? I am going somewhere else. read more

Let me start by saying that the people at this shop are absolutely amazing. My mom and I were on a road trip last week from Las Vegas to Atlanta and we got stuck in Tupelo, MS with a check engine light. We had been having problems with this trip EVERY. DAY. and so this was the last straw. I was in tears and my mom was about to loose it. When our insurance dispatched us Michael from Tom's, I swear it was like we were sent an angel from heaven. Michael was not only courteous and respectful, but he went out of his way to help us to a hotel with our 3 dogs and then towed our car (AND TRAILER) to the shop so they could work on it in the morning. The following morning, they kept in contact with us with updates and we were back on the road at noon (a little over 12 hours after the breakdown happened). After the car was fixed, Michael even came back to the hotel and picked my mom up and took her to the shop to get the car. You really can't beat the service at this shop!! They are all so damn amazing and I've never felt more safe and secure since we started the trip 4 days prior. They didn't try to swindle us and were honest with us the ENTIRE time, not to mention they are AAA certified so it was an even better scenario that we could have hoped for. These guys have been around for at least 50 years and really know what they are doing. Major props to Michael and the rest of Tom's Automotive team!!! read more

Tom's provided great service on major body repair. I needed repair work from hail damage following a storm. I had it done in Tupelo due to significant work loads and delays among body shops in my area due to the storm. They did quality work, were very nice to deal with, and made every effort to see that I was satisfied. For that reason, I have used them again even though they are not in my area. read more
