TL;DR: Great Thai spot in Bushwick area. Great for both large parties or smaller groups. Came in for an early birthday dinner with a group of 6 on a Saturday and were seated immediately. We ordered: - Taro fritters - Pork jowl - Massaman brisket - Crispy duck - Gang Pu (crab meat curry) - Beef pad see ew - Khao soi - Mango sticky rice All were really solid! I would say standout dishes for the pork jowl and mango sticky rice. I'm also always a sucker for pad see ew. If I were to come again with a smaller group I'd definitely get the pork jowl without a doubt. At any rate, good casual spot. Big space. It's not exactly fine dining, but the space is decorated well and the wait stuff was friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

I tend to consider everything in Bushwick out of the way but Tong is definitely a standout worth the trek. It's got a nice ambiance that straddles the date-night and casual dining vibe. You won't look out of place a little dressy but you can also just saddle up to the bar for a quick bite. And quick the service is! We ordered the tapas-like plates and they not only came out super fast but they were all mad delicious. The pork jowl had a lovely tamarind sauce, the Yum Naem crispy rice was fiery in the best way, the veg dumpling was outstanding and the truffle spring rolls were sufficiently tuffley. So filling for two, left feeling totally satiated. Also ordered the Jolean gin cocktail which was delicate and deeeeelicious. Would definitely come back and explore more of the menu the next time life drags me over here.

Delicious Thai food, and highly recommend eating family style. Our favorites were the smaller dishes/appetizers. The pork jowl and the grilled octopus was great! We also loved the crab fried rice, although I'd say it's similar to what you can get at other Thai restaurants (reminded me of Pranakhon's). The interior has a nice minimalistic design and custom furniture for the space accompanied with dim lighting; it's optimal for a date night.

Really good Thai food that serves flavors that are different from your usual Thai restaurant in New York. Recommend: - Crispy duck - Khao soi: I love this dish, and I think they do khao soi better than some other Brooklyn Thai restaurants. A generously sized chicken drumstick, a good sphere of fried egg noodles on top, and delicious curry to coat your spoon with - Taro fritter: crunchy on outside, soft on inside, flavorful with the dipping sauce Bigger entree dishes (kub khao) can comfortably feed 2 people and will average in the mid-$20s range. We didn't have reservations but were able to get bar seating right away. They have a $45 menu for Restaurant Week in July that I might consider trying

Made a same-day dinner reservation for a Friday and had a great meal here. The khao soi was by far my favorite dish - the pickles!!! - and is now on my list of top khao soi in NYC. Also really liked the Yum naem (crispy rice)- just note it is SPICY. Thai iced tea and veg dumpling also worth getting. Only skip was the oysters. Will be back for fish and more khao soi!!

My big bro is the only friend I have who can eat as much as me. Whenever we get together the amount of food we consume is biblical. We have been trying to expand our search for good restaurants outside of our normal stomping grounds, and decided on Tong, as it has been on the Michelin guide list 4 years in a row. 4-peat is crazy. Although, what does the Michelin man really know about food? We hopped off the L-Train in Bushwick and made the short walk to Tong, through brightly painted warehouses that you can't tell if they are occupied or empty. Bushwick is so unique. We arrived ready to EAT. We sat down and deliberated over the menu for longer than I care to admit, and decided on the following: Beef tartare, Yum Naem, Oysters, Beef Pad See Ew, Crab Curry, Chicken Green Curry, Massaman Brisket, Fried Branzino, and the Fillet Branzino. A laughable amount of food. I don't know why we thought we could eat all that. When you sit down, the servers first question is "are you guys okay with spicy food?" Big bro confidently nodded his head with a look of slight disrespect on his face as if to say "do you know who I am?!" Next thing I know he's running to the bathroom to go splash some water on his face after 1 bite of the crab curry. Food can be SPICY in here so if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. I normally only highlight one dish to try and keep these reviews short, but this food was sensational, so imma highlight a few. Our favorites were the Fried Branzino, Massaman Brisket, and the Pad See Ew. The Fried Branzino is really what will bring me back here. It will keep me up at night thinking about how good this was. You get the entire fish seasoned with turmeric, black pepper, fried garlic, and lemongrass. It was the perfect dish. The owner, Pat, came over to our table to talk to us for a bit. She was such a sweetheart, and so passionate. She also told us that they order the Pad See Ew noodles fresh every single morning from this market close by. Running a restaurant must be so hard, so shout out to Pat. We pride ourselves on never taking leftovers, but we took a huge L here. We walked out of here like a couple of DORKS with bags of food. I felt like a little kid bringing my lunch to school smh. Great service, great people, and great food in here. I'll be back. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

WOW - this meal absolutely blew me away! Went with a group of friends and we ordered a bunch of things to try and every dish hit! I can't wait until the next time I go back. Some standouts were the crab fried rice and the mango sticky rice dessert.

Holy bleep. NOTE TO SELF: GEM RESTAURANT!!! Possibly the best Thai food I've ever had In order of what I liked: Khao soi: savory and sweet with a whole piece of chicken! SO GOOD! Kept mixing in white rice with the sauce. MY FAVE Crispy Duck: yum, comes with nice sauce Crab fried rice: it's crab fried rice, you know what it tastes like, it's always good. Large crab chunks Pork jowl: was good (reminded me of the Korean boiled pork dish bosam in the meat but the flavors were different, more fish sauce! Delish) Massaman brisket: VERY peanuty! Creamy and thick! Good portions. This all together fed 7 people. It was all so delicious.

I can see exactly why this place has been on the Michelin guide for the past five years. It's on the pricier side when it comes to the Thai food, but so worth your coins . We didn't get an entree and stick to order a few apps The truffles spring rolls were stuck with mushroom and glass noodles. You can't really taste the truffle in the spring roll itself, but the sauce is full of it. And so delicious. We also asked on sweet chili sauce on the side and it was delicious Some of the best octopus I've had perfectly cooked . Perfect texture. Spicy but delicious

Thai food continues to wow me in the city. Each dish was incredible, but I particularly enjoyed the pork jowl. The drinks were also lovely and pretty strong. One dish never came, but we over ordered and the staff took the item off of the bill. I would recommend Tong for dinner before any night life in the area!

We came as a group of 7 to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was a great dinner! I think we got 7 or 8 dishes total but the pork jowl and beef pad see ew were my favorite. The fish was also a close second! Only giving this a four and not five because of the stiff competition for thai food in nyc (felt like the khao soi i had at soothr was better and sappe is probably still my top for thai food). Service was really nice though and they gave us mango sticky rice for our friend's bday!

Nothing really stood out with the dishes; I found it to be a bit Americanized, having eaten in so many Thai restaurants around New York City. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here; our food came in timely fashion, and the customer service is good as well, but it's probably not your place if you are seeking a more authentic Thai-style cooking.

We ordered the pad see ew with shrimp, the crab fried rice (amazing), the Pak Mor which is a sweet and savory rice roll that comes with coconut cream dipping sauce (drool worthy), and last but not least the Kao Tom Haeng which also comes with a tasty broth on the side. I'd say that the pad see ew was the weakest dish of what we ordered but it was still tasty. I think it would have been nicer with a different protein, perhaps chicken or tofu. The pork jowl wasn't as crispy as I expected but it was still flavorful and the portion size was huge, considering how it was an appetizer. The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

The restaurant is tiny, so be sure to make a reservation. As a lover of spicy food, the spiciness in the dishes really brought out such a great flavor. Since my friend didn't eat as spicy, we found a happy medium getting just slightly spicy dishes which were all fantastic. We ordered the Khao Soi ($33) and Pla Tod Nam Pla ($40). The khao soi wasn't too spicy, especially since the broth has a creaminess and the spicies are on the side before mixing, which you can exclude. The chicken was so tender, but did come with bone so this can be trickier to share. Then the pla tod really surprised me, but I can definitely see why it's the best seller. It is a fried branzino with a marinated fish sauce which goes so nicely with all the crunch. There are a few remaining pieces of bone, so be careful. The fish had a nice balance of fish meat and crunchy skin. If you're looking for a unique Thai spot, this is it. Also, perfect spot for spicy lovers too. They also offer a huge selection of alcohol.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Wait staff was attentive to dietary needs, exemptions and ensured our request was followed to a T. Ordered some Khao Kriab Pak Mor (dumplings) to start along with a pair of mocktails. And an order of Khao Na Ped (smoked vegan duck) and Ginger Chicken (vegan). All served well with good portion. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.

The meat was incredibly tender and literally fell off the bone. It could have used a punch more of seasoning, but the texture was perfect. Thai Ice Tea (4.75/5): Perfectly balanced, creamy and delicious without being overly sweet Beef Shank Massaman (4/5): Solid choice; the beef was well-cooked and the curry was flavorful. Pad See Ew Chicken (4/5): Good, though it leaned a bit sweeter than the traditional savory profile. Gai Tod Wings & Pad Thai (3.75/5): The wings were okay but felt slightly overcooked. The Pad Thai was also on the sweeter side, though my friend really enjoyed it. Pla Neung Manow (3.75/5): Usually my favorite, but this version was a bit overcooked and the broth was blander than expected Thai Dumplings (2.75/5): Be warned if you aren't a fan of cilantro! The flavor was overpowering and unexpected
