This restaurant is always pack during daytime for their dim sum menu. Food was ok and service wasn't that great. The restaurant is big but they don't take reservations for daytime so 1st come , 1st serve basis.

I love this dim sum place! It's a little bit out of the way and we definitely needed a car to get there but it's well worth the journey. NOTE: the parking in this plaza is NUTS and I highly recommend finding street parking close by instead. Service and ambience : standard dim sum place with people rolling carts around. Everything comes quite quickly and hot. People are fairly friendly and let you know about what's in the carts and show you, and tea is readily picked up and replaced by another cart. Our favourites: THE CHICKEN FEET. I will be the first to say I was never a huge fan of chicken feet until this restaurant. Do get it, you won't regret it! We also really love the fried squid. Tastes fresh and stays hot even though they're rolling around with it exposed.

One of the few good dim sum in montreal and I could actually include laval here ;) it's close enough. It's a large hall and if been to many event and parties here. The staff was friendly and polite. It's really all about the experience. Chinese dim sum is not meant to be a fancy 5 star sit down. Expect the unexpected .. I did try the chicken feet and tendons. If you keep an open mind this is truly a great experience. Every time I've gone the place was quite busy. I find when ur at a Chinese restaurant and 3/4 of the restaurant is occupied by Chinese people I know I'm getting an authentic experience. Maybe it mainly because I went with a few of my Chinese friends and they tell me it taste similar to back home ;) The food to me seemed to be fresh not cold and every dish was completely different. Don't worry if you over order .. everyone seems to go home with a bag!

My family loves to visit restaurants for dim sum and this is one of the restaurants on rotation. Location: this restaurant sits in the same lot as the grocery store C&T so you can imagine that it can get quite busy. Often times you can't actually find parking in the main lot and will either need to park on the back street or the street across from the parking lot. It is also pretty dangerous so I recommend driving slowly especially if you're not used to this type of environment. The restaurant: it's a banquet style restaurant but it is old. There was construction going on inside while we were eating but it was so loud bad busy (we came on a Friday for lunch) that it didn't really distract us. It does have beautiful chandeliers hanging all over. The food: the dim sum here operates traditionally with women pushing carts around. If you don't speak Chinese, don't worry just ask the ladies what's inside their carts. They are usually very nice and want you to buy so they will describe what it is. Dim sum is from 11:30-2:30 and can get quite busy. We came around 1pm and a lot of the selection was already sold out. The food is usually a hit or miss. They do make their food in house so when it's good it's one of the best I've ever tried. However if it's not good it's only mediocre but not terrible. I do reccomend a visit if you want dim sum but don't want to go to China Town

Dim sum at Tong Por on a Sunday around 11:30, the restaurant was almost full & we nabbed the last table for 2. Greeted by our favourite waiters, tea & ice water arrived quickly. The food came out slowly but steadily & within 40 minutes we had our fill of potstickers (4), fried shrimp dumplings (4), sticky rice in lotus leaves (2) & a heaping pile of fried calamari. Everything was piping hot & delicious. The only issue is parking, or lack thereof. The parking lot is always congested with people blocking aisles, staking out or waiting for someone to leave. Because of ongoing construction on Marcel Laurin, there's no street parking. Thinking that we'd take a chance, we parked in the dirt lot across from the restaurant. The one that indicated NO PARKING and a tow truck picture. No issues.

When my friends and I arrived at the restaurant we were informed that there wasn't dim sum anymore for the day and that we'd have to order soon as the kitchen was closing for the break between lunch and dinner. We quickly made our decisions and the food was brought out promptly. I've only had pork in the salty spice before and not beef. It was just as good except that I found a lot of the meat was mostly fat. Since we arrived at the end of the lunch rush the restaurant staff was cleaning up and the vacuum was quite loud for a period of time.

Dropped by here for some dim sum as I wanted to do some shopping close by. The place is located in a parking mall where parking fills up very fast because of this restaurant and the C&T grocery store in the same parking mall so I was forced to find parking on the street about a block away in a free residential parking area. The way it works here is that you will have dim sum items pushed around on carts and if you are interested in an item on the cart, you just ask the lady pushing the cart for the item(s). She will then put the item(s) on your table and put a little check mark on this paper located on your table indicating the number of items you picked at the price of the item. Generally they will announce the names of the items in Cantonese and Mandarin. For English and French, they will sometimes show the item or might say it in those languages depending on the language fluency of the lady pushing the cart. I can understand simple Cantonese so ordering and understanding what was said wasn't an issue. Even if it is an issue, when the ladies will show you what is on their cart and if it looks interesting/appetizing, you just ask for it. I found the food to be good but pricier than similar dim sum items in Chinatown. Almost all of the items that I ordered were $5 per plate (the standard har gow (4 pieces), siu mai (4 pieces), small egg tarts (3 pieces), spring rolls (3 pieces), etc.). The only 2 items which I had which turned out to be less at $3.75 was the steamed pork buns (3 pieces) and this type of crispy taro puffs/dumplings (3 pieces) that I enjoy. I wasn't overly impressed with the steamed pork buns but everything else was very good. Service was decent and the food was good. I will generally come here when I want to have dim sum and don't want to have to either drive or take public transit to Chinatown.

For years we visited this restaurant in Chinatown before they moved to St Laurent. I see that they have some of the same staff which is nice to see. Their dim sum selection is great and very fresh, you will also see unique items you won't find in Chinatown. Lots of parking and tons of tables.

The second you enter Tong Por, you notice the vast amount of space. From what I've heard about the place, you could be waiting for quite the while on peak days. This was a Thursday noon hour service, so seating was affordable. The waiters, who were the ones who seated the customers, made sure that all new tables were seated closer to the window area. You'd think that you would get the chance to sit down and acclimatize yourself to the restaurant, but that's when the action started. I swear, I wasn't even seated yet and we already had something like 3 dishes on the table. The one thing to note when you're doing Dim Sum is the language barrier. If you have someone who can communicate with the ladies pushing the carts, you should be fine. You're also quite covered if you have someone who knows what's on the carts. But, if you should find yourself completely shut out of those two situations, patience will become the biggest virtue. While I knew what most of the dishes were, the ones that were new to me cause a little bit of hesitation. However, we got everything we came for. For anyone who is trying Dim Sum for the first time, you have to realize that there is a learning curve. There is a lot of hit and miss that goes into this. If you don't know what to get, you will feel lost. It might seem like everything is going on too fast. But, with more experience, you'll learn how to pick and choose what you want to get the best out of it. Tong Por, which serves Dim Sum daily until 3 p.m., is one of the top places to go to for that service, in my opinion. You'll find that the quality of their offerings rival anything you can get in Chinatown. Its location allows it to cater to people who cannot necessarily travel so far. For a time, you'll think that you're deep in Chinatown, enjoying the best of what it has to offer.

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

My places to see and eat were already listed and Aunt Dai was on the top of that list of the Montréal food scene. After a flight and long day of exploring, the cold Canadian weather made me crave some warm and delicious Chinese food. But due to lack of energy I decided to order it through DoorDash. After watching so many YouTube and TikTok videos of this place I ordered food from here with high expectations only for them to come crashing down. My order of the spring rolls were mediocre at best but edible. The beef broccoli was a disappointment is to say the least. It seemed like they boiled the beef, carrots and broccoli together and dumbed some soy sauce over it. The sauce was runny, I had asked for extra sauce not watered down soy sauce. Flavor profile was completely missing from the dish. Beef wasn't marinated, fried or stir fried and then mixed with broccoli. It was only Boiled!!! No effort was actually applied into creating this dish. For my first Chinese meal in Canada I was definitely left feeling dissatisfied.

I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. I was expecting a more flavored experience and maybe that is not what they do or I could have ordered differently. The menu is huge so it is hard to know where to start. We went here because of the good Yelp reviews. Were we arrived in Chinatown there were many other places that looked great, so we loitered at the door for a minute while deciding what to do. As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
