If it is your child's first haircut they get their picture taken and it is put on the wall which is wallpapered with pictures of all of the kids that have come in over the years. Extremely disappointing experience--consistently. This salon does not listen to customers. After my last visit, my scalp hurt so badly that I had to remove several crochet braids just to get relief. I've been a loyal customer for some time, but the pain after every appointment is unbearable. I have natural hair, and their constant excuse is, "We have to braid tight because your hair is natural." Customer service is equally unprofessional. The staff shout across the room, often right in your ear, and they ignore any requests for adjustments to your style. Sometimes, multiple people work on your hair at once, each pulling aggressively, making the experience even more uncomfortable. If negative stars were an option, this business would earn them. This salon is unprofessional, inconsiderate, and fails to prioritize client care. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a braider who respects both your time and your hair.

Along with waiting for an hour and a half for someone to start my hair, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who does what in whom and when. They switch between clients constantly. They play Braiding musical chairs while you try to figure out who is going to come over to you and do your hair next. They have only been doing my hair for an hour and I've already had two people working on it. When I called, I was told the price would be $180. When I arrived to the salon, and they saw me and the image of what I wanted, I was again told $180. But for some reason after waiting almost two hours, the moment I get in the chair, the price changed to $200-220 because my hair was short. MY HAIR WAS THE SAME LENGTH AN HOT LATER AS IT WAS WHEN I WALKED IN THE DOOR! WTF?! Halfway through doing my hair, my went to start on a new client's hair and I was left with half of my hair done for well over 15 minutes in the chair. No explanation no nothing other than one of the braiders, currently doing someone else's head told me she would be right with me. These folks do decent work but if you're natural out your kid is natural, you can forget about someone trying to take care of the hair braided into your braids or your natural hair. The pull, twist, pick and comb through with wreckless abandon. They could care less about your natural hair. I'm learning how to make next box braids asap.

So I got on the internet, did some research and decided to take a chance on Clayton Hair Salon. The things that I liked about it was that it wasn't like some of the other Clayton Salons that are "tragically hip" and you pay for the atmosphere, and also it didn't seem to cater towards small kids or teens. All I want is a great haircut for a fair price. And I am so pleased that I found it! I must also say that one of the reasons I chose Clayton Hair Salon is I saw on the website that their Manicurist is Becky Gordon, and she had done my nails at another place a few years ago and she is AMAZING. So that settled it, I called and made my hair appointment. Kristty was everything I was hoping for and more! Her shop is in an adorable old historic-style home in Clayton's beautiful little downtown area, and there is plenty of parking available. She took me on a tour and every room was done very professionally. She offered me a drink but I had brought one in. She was easy to talk to and understood exactly what my hair needs were and she gave me some great advice that I'm still using today. I even called her back a couple of days after my appointment to tell her how happy I am with my cut. I'm looking forward to going back and seeing Kristty again!

I walked in and Shannon was at the desk and gave me a tour of the facility. I was so impressed. She took me in for my manicure and I must apologize for forgetting the young ladies name but we chatted alot and she is half Honduran. She gave an amazing manicure, pleasant attitude and so energetic. She made the entire manicure relaxing. I was then taken to the haircut area where Vladimir took care of me. He gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had in 50+ years. The beard trim with facial cleansing was professional and almost but me to sleep. His attention to detail was amazing. Upon completion I decided to setup a membership based off of the professional attitude of the staff, the welcoming environment and the prices are definitely equal to the work. I recommend this place for sure. I have shared my feedback with my fellow veterans who work on Fort Bragg. It is worth the drive for 2 hours of relaxation that helps you forget the stress of life.

They've gone through quite a few changes over the year, but all for the better. What guy doesn't love a free beer or bourbon while getting a haircut? All the stylists are extremely talented, like Alex and Jeff. The front desk staff, particularly Haley, is extremely kind and always welcoming. I'm also surprised everyone in there can make really good old fashions, which you wouldn't expect from a barber. Highly highly recommend.
