My husband and I tried Tony's BBQ on our drive home to Louisiana. The place was clean and plenty of parking. The inside had lots of places to sit and even had a cd jukebox. You were greeted by super friendly people that explained everything and helped us make a decision on what to eat. My husband and I both had the three meat combo, which, came with the choice of three meats, two sides and a drink. I choose the ribs, sausage, and brisket with green beans and ranch potatoes. The ribs and sausage were very yummy! The brisket was good but a little dry. The ranch potatoes were cold and definitely needed more seasoning but were ok. I was not a fan of the green beans, they were very bland. I got the bbq sauce on the side and it was tangy and good. My husband ordered the chicken, sausage, and brisket with the cream corn and green beans. He liked all the 3 meats and LOVED the cream corn. He said the green beans needed some help. The total for the two of us was about $45. We would definitely eat here again and would recommend it to everyone. read more

Wonderful BBQ place, apparently well known by the locals and it's always a great sign. Picked 3 item meal and a BBQ baked spud. The BBQ spud was great, totally recommend it. Brisket was a bit dry but didn't have useless burnt ends/barks you'd see elsewhere. Sausage and ribs were both pretty good. Best of all none of the items were salty, which is a blessing for blood pressure. Iced tea is pretty great and highly recommend it. read more

I have eaten here a few times now. Not sure if there are new owners or not but something has definitely changed over the last year. Most recent visit my wife ordered the brisket plate from the menu and I ordered the seafood platter. Her plate was supposed to come with a roll but she never had one brought out. My seafood platter was said to have fish, shrimp and stuffed crab. When it was brought out instead of shrimp, I had two small shrimp and 5 oysters! I went and asked the lady about the roll and oysters. I went and asked and was informed that they only give rolls upon request and that the sign was wrong and they just haven't changed it. Didn't offer to fix it just told me that's what I get. I'm sorry but if it's listed on the menu I should get what I'm paying for and expecting, not have to ask about the details of why it's different. Beyond that, the fish was good but the two shrimp and oysters were over cooked, I don't eat oysters however so those were wasted and had I know it was oysters, I would have ordered something different. We ate there about a year ago and said never again. So a year later though maybe it better now. NOT!! So never again. Food was cold. The people that work there act like they are upset because you ask for something. Sweet and Unsweetened tea was out. Took awhile for them to put more out. We stopped by on our way out of Houston and I'm so glad we did. Brisket, links. Corn bake, ranch potatoes, beans and Big Red on the soda fountain - so much food for so little money! Very large portions- and a big condiment bar of all the usual fixings- yummy salty pickle chips, thick sliced onions, whole and sliced japs- all my favorites. Oh- and a ginormous vat of BBQ sauce to pour over all of it in a self-serve soup tureen! Service was typical cafeteria style and it was fast and friendly. The potatoes were broiled with bacon, scallions, cheese and a creamy ranch sauce poured over. The brisket was melt in your mouth good! The staff was also very accommodating + friendly. This place is what I imagine when I imagine a Texan restaurant off the side of the road. It's really dark in Winnie at night so the restaurant did a good job at lighting the building and the sign out front to let passerby' know it's open and there. We walked in a little apprehensive walking in but the friendliest staff walked us through the whole menu and gave us some really good recommendations. Pulled pork has recently been added to the menus so we got a pulled pork sand which, ribs and brisket, ribeye and quail, and chicken. All the meats you can have this place is basically what we got. The food was a good portion for a great price! A really affordable spot. The meats were tasty and well seasoned, a bit dry all around, we did come in an hour before close so that might explain that. Overall thanks for some good food Tony's, and keep those super friendly staff members, they are all sweethearts! read more

Saw this place on the way home from Crystal Beach and looked up the reviews, thank you my fellow yelpers for giving me something other than Whataburger to eat in Winnie texas. We got there about 1:00 in the afternoon and were greeted immediately by a friendly and attentive staff. It's the traditional barbecue setup, you pick up a tray go through the line and tell them what you want. The lunch special was a barbecue sandwich and two sides for $10. My husband and I both ordered a sliced beef sandwich with two sides. It was good, not great, but good. I would go back again for sure. Given the options in this small community, I absolutely would recommend this over a Whataburger type situation. Yes, it cost a little bit more , but it's so nice to sit down in a restaurant and relax for a few minutes and that's what Tony's place allowed. A nice big parking lot that we could park our RV in while we went in and enjoyed a good meal and cold drinks. They have specials everyday of the week and on Thursday night it's all you can eat barbecue. I wish we'd have been able to go at night instead of lunch. However knowing this option is available, next time we're out at Crystal Beach I'm pretty sure we'll be making the drive to winnie. Solid 3 stars read more

Hummm, not quite good, not really bad. We chose the two meat plate, pork ribs and sliced brisket, and the chopped beef potato. Pork ribs were probably cooked in the morning but the sliced brisket earlier in the week. It actually had a good bark and smoke line but hardly any flavor. It also was very dry. Thankfully, the chunky sauce was flavorful, if not a little watery. All the sides on the line were definiately holdovers from lunch and were dried out and looked burnt. I chose green beans and pinto beans. How can one mess up canned green beans??? Well, not much flavor in either side. Interesting though, I did like the sauce. A little watery but chunky. I usually eat a lot of sauce on my meat so it was helpful. We probably won't be going back. It was a learning experience. read more

It was a Sunday at lunch time, and the place was crowded. I saw that as a good sign. The parking was terrible - not because their lot was small, but because most of the people in the lot were driving monster pickup trucks which took up multiple spots. The ordering line was very slow. We ordered take-out, so I cannot comment about the seating area. My take-away was that the food was very good, the service (although slow) was very friendly and helpful, and it was an overall good experience. read more

The price was good. But was mediocre BBQ. Cole slaw did not taste very fresh. Stuffed jalepenos were taken from a box out if the freezer and then brought to our table. Appeared to either be workers or the family of the workers, but a couple of females came in with small children and they were fussing at there kids an then talking to workers behind the counter and they cursed several times. Don't be fooled by other raters. I have been to a number of decent places in central Texas, and the quality of the Brisket at this place is average at best. The feel of the brisket is okay, but the rub provided very little flavor to the meat itself. Good rub has a surface that's distinct and the rub here looked a bit congealed.
