His team is resourceful and they did not generate excessive work to add cost. For our kitchen / laundry facelift, we updated the flooring, backsplash, lighting, and reconfigured our laundry area. George's crew helped to side vent the dryer which the big box store was unable to do. George gave valuable input on our bathroom design to optimize the small space. He had suggestions for an in-wall toilet, a corner sink, window ledge niche, and talked us out of a doorless shower (thank you!). He knows small spaces very well and was able to place the fixtures in their best locations. George would give us a heads up on our requests that were going to cost more than ~1k. He had some subcontractors come in to help with varying degrees of quality and cleanliness. We are glad he managed the plumbing contractor who had to come back 3 times. His paint jobs varied quite a bit in consistency depending on who was painting. The best part of working with George was that we were expecting our first child, and he worked very hard to complete the project before her due date. The stairs…read morewere in really poor shape and felt like they were ready to fall down, so we needed the work done immediately. Harvey was extremely responsive and his crew started quickly. He communicated clearly about what was possible and was honest when the stairs turned out to be in worse condition than first assessed. The team replaced the unsalvageable parts and stabilized the rest, and the workmanship on the parts they replaced looks solid. All-in-all there was only so much they could do given the stairs were built incorrectly and were in very bad condition, but they pulled through and got everything into a safe, workable state. Harvey was also a really nice guy to talk with. Professional, personable, and easy to work with. He kept us informed when the timeline shifted, worked efficiently, and left the area tidy when they finished.

This has been a complete nightmare. At the beginning of October Alex replaced the counters in my…read moresmall kitchen. We had many discussions about the kind of counter I wanted including that it should be heat and stain resistant. He assured me in writing that the counters he was acquiring for me were just that. he quoted me and I paid him $5000 to install the counters which took him about two and a half days. He left all the debris from the old counters in my front yard (even though he assured me he would remove them the day after the work was done where it sat for two weeks before I paid to have it removed. After three weeks I started to notice stains appearing on the counters (which were not from any specific food or liquid) which would not go away no matter what I used to clean them. I let Alex know and it took him quite a while to come and look and he told me this has never happened before and he would talk to the supplier. We are now into the fourth month of me attempting to get him to take care of this and he is currently ignoring all my messages and not taking care of it. He said that the supplier are saying it's not their fault and he is telling me that it's not his fault purely because he has installed dozens of these counters over the years and this has never happened and because of that he refuses to take responsibility. I highly recommend NOT using this person for your renovations no matter how many other good reviews he has because at the end of the day he is not honorable and takes no responsibility for poor workmanship - of which there is plenty as shown in the photos. This was a lot of money for the size and scope of work and I paid him because he came highly recommended and I assumed he would do a good job. My main gripe is that he has pretty much ignored me for the most part and does not stand by the work he does. Happy to share all the correspondence between us with anyone who is considering using him so you can see how poorly he has behaved and save yourself a big headache.

The patches looked awful, and a second attempt to correct them failed, too. Then I did some research and found Davis Stucco. From the very first interactions via email, I was impressed by how promptly and clearly Andy communicated. He came to my house on time and showed a depth of knowledge I had not found with other contractors. He also explained in detail what he could do and why each step was important. Then he executed on time and according to plan. The resulting patches match the historic edifice perfectly. They integrate with the existing stucco seamlessly, and this is a huge relief. His team was courteous, and they cleaned up beautifully. I would not hesitate to work with Andy again.

Wanted to share positive feedback on Andy with Davis Stucco. I called upon him for help when a…read moreprior general contractor wasn't able to get a matching stucco finish for a wall repair. We had gone quite a few rounds with the other contractor but the wall just didn't meet our quality standards. Andy was super responsive, professional, and very friendly. He was confident that he could match the stucco with no problem. He came over a few days later, shaved down the old stucco, revised the work with new stucco within an hour. It matched perfectly! I didn't realize Stucco was something that required a bit more specialization, and Andy is definitely your guy if you need quality stucco work. I would hire Andy again in a heartbeat if we had any stucco needs in the future!
