This is a smaller restaurant in the Anderson's. Its a little crowded up front when ordering at times but the food tastes similar to the original location in Toledo. The atmosphere is a little plain but there are some pictures in the wall showing their legacy including eating their food on the MASH set. Well as soon as we put our tray down on the table there was a long hair on my husbands hot dog. So my husband didnt eat that. I tried to stomach through mine but I just couldn't. It was spicy but somehow bland. The chili fries had very little cheese but a lot of their coney sauce. This was my first time going to the new Tony Packo's in Maumee. I was looking forward to a great Hungarian hotdog and German potato salad. My meal was to be the manager's special at $6.99 but when you add cheese at $.59 and a drink for 2.49, my meal totaled $11.99. Highway robbery. While I waited for them to serve up the German potato salad in the smallest bowl possible, my hot dog sat for a good four minutes before they cashed me out. Once seated, the first bite into the potato salad was lukewarm. When I took it back to the counter, they said, "I can warm it up.". Not, sorry, or let me take care of that for you. Next, my first bite into my Hungarian hotdog, I discovered that my hotdog was barely warm after it sat so long on their counter waiting for the initial German potato salad. I took it back to the counter and stated that it was barely lukewarm to which she replied, "I can remake it."No, I'm sorry or let me take care of that for you. Poor customer service. My husband ordered the New chicken sandwich which was a disappointment as it lacked flavor. When my new hotdogs did arrive, they were hot but two more things disappointed me. First, the napkins were so thin you could barely wipe your hands on them. Two layers were needed just to protect my clothes. They should invest in better napkins. Second they put their food on such small plates, so small in fact, that all of the goodies that you paid for on your hotdog barely remain on the plate. As this was my first time visiting this new restaurant which I said to the manager while cashing out, I was disappointed that by the end of my meal no effort was made on the part of the manager to apologize for the poor quality of the service or the product. Be aware, when asking Siri for the hours of this store it says they are open until 10 but clearly they are not because the door was locked at 9 and the staff was more focused on closing and cleaning than to offer excellent service. I thought TP was just OK. The dog had good snap but the chili could have been more flavorful. The dumplings were bland, I had hopes they would be close to those in Hungary but no. Wish I could go back to Budapest for more! The employees were the nicest people, as were 99% of the people I dealt with from Detroit airport to Toledo the last 2 days. Was in the mood for some paprikas dumplings but was too lazy to make my own so I thought I'd stop and grab some from Tony Packo's. $3.56 for about 3 ounces of dumplings that were under cooked mixed in with some type of gravy that was definitely not paprikas gravy. So I just wasted my money and should have just been more industrious and made my own. Being of Hungarian heritage, I'm very disappointed at how the quality of their food has gone down. Tony Packo's in Maumee is a nice little cafe-style restaurant, tucked away inside The Andersons, featuring the food that made Tony Packo's on Front Street famous in Toledo. When you get there, you stand in line and order your food fast-food style, although the food is far better than normal fast-food fare. They even have lunch combos, so ordering is usually pretty easy. While I'm not a big fan of their flagship Hungarian hot dogs, I AM a big fan of their "American dog" with chili sauce. My absolute favorite is the roast beef sandwich on rye with mashed potatoes and everything covered in gravy. Another home run is the paprikas, which is some sort of dumplings with sauce that is always satisfying. The staff at the counter is always great, and I suspect some of them are related because it feels like a family atmosphere. They also have a discount card which can save you a lot of money if you go often enough. As a final bonus, and this has nothing to do with Tony Packo's, it is very convenient to head back to the pastry counter in Andersons for dessert. A win-win for everybody. Tony Packo's is the place to go for a quick lunch in Maumee when you don't want to feel like you're eating fast food. read more

This place is really good for their hot dogs but I'd ou are in a rush and want a meal and don't want a hot dog I would not recommend going since they need to cook the food which takes a while but it's good just not if you ate in a hurry. The manager was really understanding and kind when there was an issue about a missing item but she took care of it. Which not a lot of people do if they don't want to but she still insisted to help us. So I wouldn't mind going back there one of these days. read more

I have always enjoyed Tony Packo's and I love their dogs however over the last few years the price of a dog has gone up and the size and quality has gone down. I keep going back and the 'slice' of sausage put in the bun has consistently all but disappeared yet the price is $3.50. For a $3.50 hot dog I expect to get something besides a $.25 bun and a spoonful of chili sauce. It is very hard to justify a $10.00 meal there that consistently ends in frustration and disappointment. For what is charged you should get the entire sausage and not a thin slice. read more

I do like the hot German potato salad along with the Hungarian hotdog - I guess you could say this is my standard. The chicken paprika is OK. However, I have been taught how to make it by Slavic people - so it just doesn't fit the bill for me. By the time my food arrived it was cold even heating it up didn't help because the chips on the bottom were soggy.

Took my mother to this location last week. Number 1 ...big high ceiling room, with double doors that let the cold air stream in every time they're opened. Number 2...got in line behind someone that was having trouble with their order, but they still made mine and let it set there. Number 3...by the time they straightened out the order ahead of me, my order had been setting there 10 minutes. Number 4...Finally paid and took our food to the table, which was stone cold by this time. Took a couple bites and pulled a hair out of my mouth. The entire chain recently changed from Coca-Cola to Pepsi products. While Coke and Pepsi are generally interchangeable, Diet Pepsi is a disgusting substitute for Coke Zero or Diet Coke. The only reason a restaurant changes is purely economical as Pepsi is available at a much lower cost, which helps make up for the incremental loss of beverage sales. What is further frustrating however is the change to Pepsi was paired with an overall price increase and a noticeable reduction in portion size of some menu items. While the food is still the same middle of the road sausage and chili, that Toledo natives think is top notch, it's clearly over priced and cheapened by an inferior beverage selection. read more

We were staying near a location in south Toledo and give Tony Packos a try. Very mediocre and definitely overpriced. The employee who came to the table to ask how our meal was took our complaint about one item that we felt was a very small potion for the price and refunded the cost of it. This was my first trip to the new Maumee location. Aside from having a drive-thru, it's pretty much the same experience as it was at the Andersons. Very clean, well lit and the employees are very nice...maybe too nice. My companion had some coupons and was eager to try the lake perch dinner (a first for me to get fish from Packo's). The food was very good...three pieces of fish + a good portion of fries + a small bowl of cole slaw...for $18.99 plus tax? That was a bit of a shock! There are other places in town where that price will get you a fourth piece of fish + a larger salad + butter and a roll and a waiter to take your order at your table. There is also a huge tv monitor hanging on the wall which shows only images of food being prepared. Not sure what the point of that is. I didn't NEED an ad to make me want to come to Packo's and I certainly don't need to look at advertising while I'm there. Not at all what I expected from Packo's. My future use of this location will probably be limited to getting hot dogs and going home with them where I'll be able to enjoy a cold beer (no beer here...too bad but I understand why). I don't go downtown very often and while the original location on Consaul St. is great, the east side is generally a good place to stay away from these days. I can see myself going to Sylvania more often from now on. read more

When we got home a few minutes later, the Hot Dog Buns were all dried out and hard as a rock!! We were late for a Christmas Party so we didn't have time to complain. Hot food with interesting posters and tiffany chandeliers hanging inside...not fancy but good food. Great to browse inside the store when you are finished. I always thought that when you order a hot dog you should get a hot dog. Not so! At least not if you are looking for one from the new location in front of the Meijer store in Maumee. Since I live here, I thought I should give them a try and be supportive. Once home with my hot dog and bowl of chili I soon discover you no longer get a hot dog when you order a near 4.00 hot dog. Instead, you get a dog split down the middle in a bed of sauce and bread. Too bad since I am a new customer and any business person worth their salt knows that a new customer is harder to get than a current customer is to keep around. Also, why don't they want to sell more chili? When you make it too hot for the average Joe you sell less chili. Da! Why not simple put the control in the hands of the customer and let them decide how hot they would like it. A hot dog is a hot dog is a hot dog, until you cop out for the almighty dollar and split it. read more
