I own a 2012 VW Passat that has been in storage for the last four years while I've been overseas, and on 9 June 2025 I went to pick it up from storage. Needless to say, 4 years in storage takes a toll and it was running rough, accompanied by a few lights on the dash. I limped it to Swickard VW hoping they could check it out sometime in June or early July (I don't need the car for the next month). This was my first time to this dealer, having generally excellent experiences at my previous VW dealers. I made my way to the line for the service department and eventually talked to the blonde lady who was servicewriter at the time. Her greeting was less than pleasant and I immediately perceived that my presence was inconveniencing. I attempted to explain my situation as briefly as possible. She was adamant that they were very busy, and her techs were booked out until early July for big jobs like mine. I said that I understood and that I am willing to wait, explaining my flexibility for this car repair. Eventually, she accepted my business, mentioning that they may be able to get around to it sometime in the coming weeks and directed (more like ordered) me to pull my car around into the shop. Not wanting to inconvenience anyone else in the shop (especially if my car died), I asked for a specific location where I should leave the car. One question too many I suppose, because I received a sarcastic explanation of where to leave it in response. Oof. I left and headed to the car with the intent of pulling it into the shop, and then came to my senses. I decided that I didn't want to interact with her anymore today or in the future, so I found an import garage a mile north that had a slot on Friday for me. My interaction with their service department was much more respectful. I wouldn't recommend giving the Swickard VW service department your business.

The sale included lifetime oil changes. I needed my first and tried for over a week to get an appointment; no one answers that number and no call back was EVER received. I had to go in to make an appointment. I show up for that appointment-several days later, and am told that it will take up to 2 hrs. I waited...for 3 hours. For an oil change, that I had made an appointment for. That is poor service. My wife takes her Subaru to the dealer for the same type of service and is almost always home within an hour. Also, they have been pleasant and respectful- not so with the Lithia agent. Of course, they've already got my money and thus have no motivation to provide a quality service. If I go somewhere else, that will only cost me more money. It's disrespectful to their customers and I do not appreciate it. But the truck, it's nice.

The sales department was great, but the service department has been a constant nightmare. Every single time I bring a vehicle in, it's the same excuses: "We are understaffed," "mechanics called out sick," "we don't have enough employees." This has been going on for YEARS. There is clearly a serious management problem in the service department. My latest experience was unacceptable. I brought my 2024 Jeep Compass in for a noise issue, and they kept it for over 30 days waiting on parts. When they finally returned it, the brakes barely worked -- a dangerous issue that was NOT there before. I had to bring it right back, and at first they didn't even believe me until a mechanic test drove it. After another delay, they returned the vehicle again, and the original noise is STILL there while the brake issue still feels unsafe. Over a month in the shop for basically nothing. Also, communication is terrible. They NEVER call with updates. I'm always the one texting or calling asking, "Is my vehicle ready?" or "What's the status?" Customers should not have to chase the dealership for basic communication. To be fair, my advisor Angie Garcia was always polite, nice, and tried to help. My frustration is not with her personally -- it's with the service department system and management. People need to be aware before trusting this dealership with their vehicles. At this point, I've lost time, money, business reservations, and confidence in this dealership. Management seriously needs to do something about it.

I guess that's why it's in the name! They were patient with me while I went through the loan process and held the vehicle for me while I was finishing up paperwork all over town even though it had a lot off interest. Of course they offered me assistance with this too! As far as trade-in values you won't find a complaint from me! The big dealerships are a joke as far as trade-in values so I like to go to "the little guys." I got exactly what I wanted for trade-in. Another great thing is they do not harass you the moment you drive onto their lot to look, which I love. It's stressful and it can make me feel like prey around sharks when that happens, so bravo to Quality for that! If you have an inquiry you just head inside and anyone is willing to help you. Test drives are easy to do as well with just a copy of your license. They will let you take it out solo (with some exceptions they have to ride along) which I find also great because it's more relaxing to me to get a feel for the vehicle and not worry about awkward small talk with a stranger.
