Very good, fresh hand-pattied burger. Friendly employees. Reasonable prices for the quality. Will definitely return and recommend.

The staff was very friendly, the service was good...I had takeout but the restaurant is a buffet inside. It clearly is a place the locals enjoy and it is an easy stop if you are on the way to the beach. All in all, my favorite was actually the hot dog. The chili was excellent and the slaw had just a touch of sweetness. The BBQ was well prepared, just not my favorite style or taste profile...a bit too much twang. I would recommend Shuler's if you are in the area and look forward to trying other items the next time I return.

The place is a large wooden building that resembles something that would have been built in the 1870's. There are a few bench's and chairs on the front porch to relax in after eating or if you need to wait for a table. They have a general store with some interesting items as well. Schuler's is a buffet style barbecue and all you can eat. Their pulled pork is their best meat. I wasn't really impressed with their ribs though. Don't get me wrong, the were pretty good but I certainly wasn't blown away. Their fried chicken is good but again not much different from most buffets in South Carolina. Their collards are nice and they do offer hash. If you're thinking corn beef hash, it's not that. It's a BBQ or liver hash and it's definitely an acquired taste. I usually put it over rice if I get it. Hash was highly popular in South Carolina for many years. It can't hurt to try it as Schuler's is actually pretty good. Not my favorite barbecue in the area but it's cool place with great people.

Shuler's BBQ - Hash on the bottom left. No, not like corned beef hash. This is BBQ hash. It's sort of an acquired taste. Not a big fan.

So when we came to Myrtle Beach for our family vacation one of the things I really wanted to try was some great authentic whole hog Carolina BBQ. This is the place. I remember seeing Scott's come up on a few shows I had watched and I also saw Rodney on a few YouTube videos, so I was excited to try it out. There's a lot of history here. The staff here are all very welcoming and super friendly. The young women behind the counter were all very helpful. For food we went with the bbq plate, rib plate, and chicken plate. All of the meats were tender and delicious. In this region of Carolina the sauce is primarily a vinegar pepper sauce which I really enjoyed. The tables are set up in the perfect spot, right outside the hanger where they cook the meats... so all the delicious smells from the smoke and meats come wafting through. It's a great experience. My hats off to the staff and family for all their hard work and dedication to the craft. The foods delicious and made with love. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for some great whole hog bbq. Thanks again!

We've…read morepassed Michael D'z BBQ every time on our way to and from Bucees in Florence, SC and every time we say 'next time we're stopping there'. Well today, 4 years later of saying that, we stopped. It's a small 'food truck' (but it doesn't move from this spot), and I believe the smoker in the front is where eveything is made. The smell is unmistakeable and you can take it to go or eat inside a covered area that has booths and even a pool table. They sell farm fresh eggs and other various produce, flavored honeys and bottle of bbq sauce. What we ordered.. 1/2 rack ribs - don't even know where to start with how tender, fall of the bone the ribs were, with a perfectly spicy bbq sauce 1/2 lb sliced brisket - this is their best seller and my lord, I entirely understand why 1/2 chicken - hubs loves chicken and this was like a mutant because it was gigantic and not overly smokey, but just right dipped in the rib sauce A small container of potato salad - had I known how truly delicious this was going to be, I'd definitely have gone bigger. Next time!! It was a tad sweet but balanced perfectly with relish. I have no problem traveling for quality.. this spot is about 1.5 hours away from Myrtle beach where we stay, and worth every minute of the drive. Best of all, I got to meet Mike!! He's a southern gentleman, a blast to chat with and I cant wait to go back. If you're traveling south on 95 through SC, it's a couple miles off the Bucees exit, I suggest you take the detour and give it a try!!!!

After driving 15 hours on March 21, 2026, my husband and I were genuinely excited to try this place and planned to take our food back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and never really recovered. First, parking is extremely limited out front, which is frustrating when you're tired and just want a quick pickup. Inside, things only got worse. The front-of-house staff was shockingly unprofessional. The employee helping us clearly didn't understand her job and had to be corrected multiple times by another staff member--something no customer should have to witness. It created confusion, delays, and zero confidence in our order. We paid about $50 for a sampler, which is not cheap, and yet the same employee argued about giving us the sides because she entered the order incorrectly. If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. Between the disorganization, poor communication, and outright unfriendly behavior, the service was a mess. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the food itself was actually very good. The burnt ends and ribs were the standout--absolutely delicious. But great BBQ can't fully make up for such a frustrating and poorly managed customer experience.

He was SO hospitable, sweet and genuinely welcoming. He gave great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. These days, it's not always easy to come across service like that, which made it even more appreciated. I ordered the Sunset Blush drink and it was delicious. We also got the cornbread and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST cornbread I've ever had. So soft and flavorful. The brisket sandwich was a little dry (could be because we went during closing) but still had really good flavor. The mac and cheese though... WOW. I am very picky with mac and cheese and most places miss the mark, but this tasted homemade. Easily a 10/10. My husband got the peach bourbon burger and said it was great. The kids ate everything in sight which is always a win...lastly the cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert... phenomenal!!! Overall such a great experience and I'm really glad we stopped in!
