This is an update and my opinion of Tony is only better. I just got another cut on 08/28/2020. I told Tony..." Hey it's our 14 year Anniversary". That's how long he has been cutting my hair. This is his 3rd location....Kings Den where we started closed and Tony moved to his own space at the Capital Mall. After having someone else cut my hair I was so relieved when his store opened. He moved out of the mall to a better spot. I love it, he now has a back door to open and let fresh air in. Tony will not rush a cut, he treats each cut as a work of personal art. When he is closed to done he has you stand up and he double checks the cut. This shop isn't where they rush the stylists to cut and move on.....in fact Tony and his crew have regulars that know if you have a 2:00 p.m. appt the cut may start a little later since they don't rush. Usually they are on time. I was a little late to my appointment last Friday due to traffic. Tony took the appointment scheduled after me and I didn't mind. I tried to call, but my car smart system decided making a call wasn't important to let Tony know I was running 5 minutes late...lol.. I normally am. early.. Please note Tony's only takes cash. I have never been so humiliated in a salon setting. When I tried to explain the haircut I wanted, Tony began yelling at me and attacking my choice of style. Even after I tried to de-escalate by asking for his professional advice to even out my ends, he continued to berate me until I was forced to walk out. Being told he is 'passionate' is no excuse for abusive behavior. Despite his later attempt to call me and fix it, I will never return." read more

Wow, wow, wow! New to the area and while searching for a new stylist came across Tony's and couldn't be happier with my choice! Got a color and cut and enjoyed every minute of it. Fun, professional and affordable!! If you are in need of these services, do yourself a favor... call them to book. My stylist was Wendy, highly experienced and all around phenomenal. Tony was recommended by a capital mall employee. I noticed Tony's was open so I ran over to scope it out. I was able to get a same day appointment, which I appreciated, as it would save me a trip to Oly. Tony was efficient and gave me a great haircut in about 45 minutes. Hey all, I was recommended to Tony's by a coworker. I pulled in and found parking. Entering felt awkward for me as I had not gotten a hair cut in two years as a male. When time came up I got a haircut and trusted the process. I left with my first hair cut in two years and tipped handsomely cause I don't know that I will continue getting haircuts (more because I liked having long hair). So disappointing. My regular hair person is not available so I have been calling around to find a new one. Seriously don't like finding a new person for coloring my hair. Bad customer service makes it worse. ‍. After being on hold, which isn't a a big deal by itself but the person proceeds to cop an attitude with me. That's a problem. . I try to be nice because maybe she's having a bad day. I tell her the days I would like to get in and that I am looking to get my hair colored. I tell her what colors and that it is usually a full foil. She grills me about it then tells me they can't do that. "Ummm, why?" I ask and she just hands the phone off to someone else who grills me as well. I am not a stylist and don't know all the terms and I have never been treated so poorly. I was in need of a last minute haircut before flying to my cousin's wedding, I live close by and although many other barbers, salons, or other hair care professionals had closed for the evening. Tony told me to come on in (he also mentioned that I would need cash). After a quick stop at the Walgreens next door (well across the parking lot) I hustled over to Tony. He probably thought I was homeless at first sight, what a shaggy mess I was. I wish I had a before and after picture. I don't get my haircut often, strangers touching my head and face is just outside my comfort zone. However, Tony was very calming. He was authentic, treating me more as a guest than a customer. I was put at ease after speaking with him briefly. When Tony asked me what I wanted I realized I hadn't thought that far ahead. I told him that he is the artist and I am his canvas. For someone that likes to be in control of as much as possible this is a scary idea. Each snip was a trust fall of my locks, I can only think of 2 other haircuts that turned out as well as the one Tony provided! They also cost 2x or 3x as much as the cut I got from Tony. Anyway, I'm about due for a haircut to escape as much of this summer heat as I can. I had forgotten to write a review while I was out of town. I passed it on my way home yesterday and reminded myself I promised Tony to tell everyone what a mean and bitter man he is In short, get your haircut here if: You want a great cut at a great price You want to go to someone with decades of experience You can pay cash Want care, attentiveness, and authenticity from the person detaching your hair. What is going on in this place? Strange guy who thinks he is something special. Just came in for a usual haircut. Came out with the McDonald's arches over my ears. I guess he thought it would be a good idea to raise my hole hairline by an inch. He left it to long on top and when I asked to take a little more off he argued with me about it. Not to mention he danced around me the hole time in strange positions apparently trying to get the best view of my head. Very weird dude and bad at cutting air. So if you want a bad haircut from a guy who crosses his legs while cutting your hair or you need to be ridiculed by your spouse and friends for several weeks? If there was a zero, I'd give that. One star is too much. On my third visit, I was given a buzz (didn't want a buzz, just a hair cut) with dive bombing clippers attacking from many angles. My head kept getting poked by the cutter guide. By the time a few passes on my head took place, there wasn't much she could do but finish as a buzz. Total lack of any style. World's fastest - and worst - hair cut. Not only skinned, but had a really thin spot hacked into my hair. What a mess. Curiously, the previous two cuts had been promising. Something was distracting my cutter as she was looking around and engaged in conversation with other employees while trying to cut my hair. Something was wrong and I was her victim. Her whole technique had changed from a decent cut to Boot Camp 101. I could do as well with a Flo-Bee. Maybe better. There is no reason to go back and complain. What are they going to do? Make my hair grow on the spot? Tony, no reflection on you, but you got a problem with one of your female cutters. It's your name on the door. Fix it! read more

I came across Tony's for a last-minute hair trim and Tony's was one of the few salons that could take me in within the hour of my call. The lady who did my hair was very kind. However, I asked for a trim of my dead ends and informed her how long it took for me to grow my hair out. She showed me how much she would take off (~3.5inches) and told me she'd try to keep as much length as possible and i can come back to cut off more if I feel comfortable. It threw me off when she soaked my scalp in conditioner (I was always told by multiple hair stylists not to condition my roots). She was then cutting thick chunks of my hair at a time when combing it up rather than thin layers at a time-- resulting in some chunky layers. Anyways, my hair was to my mid-lower back when I straighten it and now it's a barely lower than my shoulders. She probably took a total of 6-7inches. I'm the back the middle is cut shorter than the sides and it is not an even cut. I have got comments that my layers are choppy at work. My layers are also very short (some are cut up to my ear). I didn't realize how short it was until I got home and my hair was drying and curling up. I am very displeased with my haircut. read more

About 6 or 8 weeks ago I went into tony to even up my hair. I was trying to grow out the length but showed him a picture of a long mullet so need my layers shorter. He did ok on that cut but didn't cut that much off so when I needed another trim I went in. I told him I just wanted a trim and to leave the length. Showed him the same picture. Right away he started scolding me for not coming in sooner that I need to come in every 6 weeks. Tried to tell him I did but he said he needed to concentrate. I was immediately concerned when I saw the amount of hair coming off my head but as he kept telling me he knows what he's doing. After he dried my hair I had the nerve to say there was more hair on one side. He tried to tell me it's not going to be perfectly even to get the look. Then he proceeded to cut too much off on that side because he appeared mad. He turned me around and berated me and told me now it's not right. He turned me and showed me pictures on the wall and said it's not the cut it's the face. He also said if you don't like it you don't come back. At that point I just wanted to get the fuck out. The haircut is terrible and I felt emotionally abused when I left. I drove into a nearby parking lot and sat and cried. He thinks he's way better than he is and is certainly not a professional. I just left Tony with su h a huge smile on my face and a dance In my step. He fixed a butchered job from a different stylist that has been growing out since August. Tried many stylist to see if they could fix it, nobody even wanted to try since it was so bad. They said it needed more time. Tony Tony Tony.,....You and I have been doing business for nearly 7 years now and I'm heart broken that I have to tell you this...YOU'ER FIRED............. What were you thinking talking to a customer the way you did? When you asked me what I thought of my hair cut like you always do, I pointed out an area of concern (knowing you don't like that) however instead of saying "I'm still working on it" you chose the unprofessional way. I nearly walked out with half my hair cut I was so upset. You instead told me "You have ugly eyes!! and only I know what is right" and you proceeded to tell me how wrong I was for even suggesting that I know more than you... WHAT?? REALLY?? I then explained that I was pointing out something that I'm sure he was getting to but Tony cut me off to say that he's the professional and only he sees "all the angles" which is true but you NEVER talk to a customer like that EVER. Tony continued to tell me the rest of the time I was there that only he could do hair the right way and only he knew the right technique (FYI tony your scissor thing you were doing was a mess) as you had your female co worker in the building with a waiting customer you proceeded to argue with her and belittle her just like you always do. I won't hold my tongue anymore. I'm so upset with how you treat woman and disrespect them just like you did to my wife telling her the same thing "that american woman don't know how to take care of themselves" and doesn't know what she wants...let me tell you my friend she was 100% sure what she wanted when we got back to the car and it was your head on a stick. That is why she never returned. I've been coming to you for so long and I just let it keep happening and not say anything until now. I can't let this rest anymore. Additionally I was sourly disappointed in the hair cut you gave me as my Stylist I now use (which was on vacation) does much better and I don't get disrespected by her at all. Disgusting place.... Walked in and wasn't greeted initially. Walked up to the counter and stated I had an appointment. I looked around and noticed several wrong things. I know I should have turned for the door.. I noticed hair everywhere, no dusting off shelves or counter tops, dirty combs, towels, chairs filled with hair... I can go on and on.. But gave it a shot anyway. I was sat down on a chair that had hair on it from the previous customer and there wasn't a place I felt comfortable setting my purse since hair was sprinkled everywhere! I told her that I wanted a trim all around since I was growing my hair long. She did a quick shampoo and conditioner, (man do I wish I just went with a dry cut..) As I sat up from the sink I noticed that the water that washed my hair wasn't draining so I had a feeling that my hair was sitting in a sink full of dirty water...YUP!! I still had shampoo in it, gross...! I had to probe questions to her so the visit didn't seem like a complete let down. Her cell phone was in her purse in the open chair next to her and it kept ringing and ringing... She was distracted and stressed. I asked her a bit about the salon.. She said that when the hair salon was open it had 9 stylists and now there is only 3. I asked her how long she had been a stylist and she said awhile. I decided to go on with the trim... Why?! My trim was done in 15 minutes with shears that looked like a pair that a 2 year old could hold.. No sharpness, not pro! No real harm done.. Thank GOD!! A quick freshen trim, that's all I felt comfortable with. She put a hair dryer to my hair without an attachment so she dried my hair with the nozzle facing up, so all my hair follicles were open and my hair looked mad! I didn't say a thing on my way out because I just wanted to hurry out of the mall and into my car.. The trim was $15.. I guess you get what you pay for! Never again!!!! If you want a haircut go elsewhere! Otherwise expect a dirty chair, your hair dipped and washed in dirty water, a non engaging stylist and a haircut that will leave you in tears! read more

Had my hair cut here its very uneven on back . Tony did not do my hair his assistant did mine. I have done hair for a living and i should have known when she kept going shorter and shorter. dont get me wring my hair on ends were fried and i wanted it shorter but was worried a bob was gonna happen. Know my daughter tony is to the point pretty much tells you what he wants even if your not sure he did my daughters hair it turned out very cute went a little shorter than wanted but split ends are gone and healthy looking. What a great place! Tony gives his all to every client and his cuts are exceptional. He could charge double and I'd still keep returning.

I called for a shave and got cussed out by a lady....she told me "what is your name i only take certain customers!?!??!" Right off the bat then after i said my name and i asked if i get there on time before yelp says you close can i get a shave and she said hurry up you have ten minutes (even though yelp says 20) then i asked why she needs to know my name and she said "this is america and its my business, i can ask whatever i want" then she hung up on me. I usually come in to Tony's hair care, for my boyfriend to get his hair cut every month or so. For him being a guy, he is not very picky on how his hair results, just as long as its short and faded. For me, I am a little more particular and don't like to take many risks on getting my hair cut by someone new, because my hair is thick, curly, and long. I feel well acquainted with the owner Tony, because of the many visits with my bf, and the last time we were in, Tony convinced me that I should try him and let him cut my hair and give me the "long layered" look ( layers of hair that are 2-4 inches shorter than the longest point of the hair). At first I denied, but after seeing how well he cuts my bf's hair, I decided what the hay. At first I was a little frightened how much was going to be cut off to achieve this look, but Tony was very precise of his angles, and what he was doing. With each clip he was aware I wanted to keep as much length possible. I ended up loving it ! He even styled it for me at the end, and gave me tips on how to do other styles as well with it. My bf has also had Linda cut his hair plenty of times before, and she does an amazing job fading hair. For $15, I don't think it can get any better ! We are both happy clients, and would recommend any friend to come see them ! read more

This is a great place to go get a cut. I was very satisfied with my experience. Tony is a great guy and he does a fabulous job. What I really liked from my visit to this salon which stood apart from all other places I've been to is that Tony actually enjoys his job and cares about the results.
