There was no clear estimate given beforehand, so I was blindsided at checkout. Charging that much for "color bowls" is ridiculous. To their credit, after I raised concerns, they did issue a refund and agreed to honor the original pricing for both that visit and future services of the same kind. Even so, that kind of price jump completely broke my trust. For context, I maintain my color at home for about $10 every six weeks. I understand salon services cost more, but this pricing is excessive and feels dishonest. Despite everything, I still gave them another chance. I asked for a simpler service, just bleaching a few chunks, adding color, and a haircut. My appointment was at 5:00, and I arrived at 5:18, slightly past their 15-minute policy. Instead of making any effort to accommodate me, they immediately refused service. What makes this worse is that my stylist had me booked later in the day specifically for the color portion, so I know I was scheduled well beyond that time. I wasn't asking for the full service anymore. I was asking for less: even just a partial service. That wasn't accommodated at all. They didn't even offer alternatives. I had to ask if a basic haircut was possible, and only then was I told I could either do just the cut or reschedule. At that point, I was so frustrated that neither option felt worth it. There was zero effort to work with me, just a flat refusal from the receptionist. Completely inflexible and unprofessional. Typically receptionists should at LEAST try to negotiate a solution. On top of that, their vivid colors are terrible, they bleed everywhere. Overpriced, poor communication, and awful customer service. They've lost my trust and my business for good.

The next time I came in the owner avoided me, and the stylist appologized for the cancelled appointment. I called this past Wed and needed to move my Saturday appointment to Monday at 10a. I am a busy person and a paying customer. The earliest they could do was 1p. They didn't even seem to care when I said I needed a more flexible salon, they offered to leave a note for the owner. The first was with Shannon, who was personable and attentive, but I felt uneasy in his chair, so I decided to give another stylist a shot. I called and they suggested Zin (Malintzin Mosqueda), who did my second and third cuts. The second was okay, though she textured the back in a way that left it standing up after a couple of weeks. I have a lot of cowlicks, so I figured we'd dial it in over time. On the third visit I mentioned I didn't love how the previous cut grew out, hoping we could work toward something better. Instead the visit went downhill. I was handed off to a less experienced stylist for the wash, who soaked my shirt and got water in my ears. During the cut I ended up with hair all over my face and down my back. When Zin said she was finished, the cut was frizzy and visibly uneven. I asked her to fix it, and she then took off a noticeable amount she'd left on the first pass, which told me the initial cut just wasn't done well. I have simple hair. Most stylists can make it look good for a week or two, and the good ones make the grow-out look clean. This grew out poorly within a week, with hair creeping around the ears that normally takes three weeks to reach that length, the back standing up, and the front lopsided. The salon does a lot right. The ambiance, the tea, the hosts, and the easy scheduling are all genuinely nice. But the core product is the haircut, and the quality was inconsistent and ultimately disappointing. After a 20% tip you're paying $90 to $100 for a men's short cut, and the result didn't come close to justifying that. I won't be back.

Today, my wife had to cancel her appointment due to illness in our home. Out of consideration for others, she chose not to risk bringing potential strep into the salon. Instead of receiving understanding or professionalism in return, she was met with a condescending call from someone who wasn't even a manager, telling her she would now have to prepay for all future appointments because she's canceled three times... in five years. Seriously? Three cancellations in five years -- one of which was to protect your staff and guests -- and this is how you treat longtime clients? There was no courtesy. No empathy. No professionalism. Just a cold policy delivered without tact or respect. A manager couldn't even be bothered to pick up the phone. Aalam has now lost both my wife and daughter's business. We'll be spreading the word. There are plenty of salons in Frisco that know how to treat people right -- and many of them are more affordable, too. Save your time, your money, and your dignity. Go elsewhere.
