I have been coming to this salon for a few years, the service is decent. Recently it has become ridiculously difficult to schedule an appointment. I had an appointment on Valentine's day that was cancelled due to my stylist calling out. I understand that things happen, but there was no attempt to work my appointment in, nor was there any restitution offered for my ruined Valentine's day. The next time I came in the owner avoided me, and the stylist appologized for the cancelled appointment. I called this past Wed and needed to move my Saturday appointment to Monday at 10a. I am a busy person and a paying customer. The earliest they could do was 1p. They didn't even seem to care when I said I needed a more flexible salon, they offered to leave a note for the owner. I'll take my business to a salon that respects my time and loyalty. read more

I've been going to this salon for over a year, but after this, I'm done and honestly, I shouldn't have come back in the first place. My first chunky highlight appointment with color was great but expensive at $380, but at least the result justified it. Six months later, I came back for a retouch of the same style and was charged $650. The only explanation? An extra $210 for "additional color." That is completely unreasonable. There was no clear estimate given beforehand, so I was blindsided at checkout. Charging that much for "color bowls" is ridiculous. To their credit, after I raised concerns, they did issue a refund and agreed to honor the original pricing for both that visit and future services of the same kind. Even so, that kind of price jump completely broke my trust. For context, I maintain my color at home for about $10 every six weeks. I understand salon services cost more, but this pricing is excessive and feels dishonest. Despite everything, I still gave them another chance. I asked for a simpler service, just bleaching a few chunks, adding color, and a haircut. My appointment was at 5:00, and I arrived at 5:18, slightly past their 15-minute policy. Instead of making any effort to accommodate me, they immediately refused service. What makes this worse is that my stylist had me booked later in the day specifically for the color portion, so I know I was scheduled well beyond that time. I wasn't asking for the full service anymore. I was asking for less: even just a partial service. That wasn't accommodated at all. They didn't even offer alternatives. I had to ask if a basic haircut was possible, and only then was I told I could either do just the cut or reschedule. At that point, I was so frustrated that neither option felt worth it. There was zero effort to work with me, just a flat refusal from the receptionist. Completely inflexible and unprofessional. Typically receptionists should at LEAST try to negotiate a solution. On top of that, their vivid colors are terrible, they bleed everywhere. Overpriced, poor communication, and awful customer service. They've lost my trust and my business for good. read more

I was seen recently and told my stylist, Shelby, took personal leave the day before my appointment. I had to choose to see someone else because I was leaving for a trip a couple days later. Not only did he get my color wrong and then argue with me about it AFTER I'd shown him a picture and when he had my regular stylists formula, the literally pulled and yanked my scalp sore. I could hear and feel hair breaking as he washed and dried me, he insisted on doing it twice to get the color to lighten up, which of course it didn't. Even had he gotten my color right, I would not go back because of his disregard for my comfort--and I am not tender-headed. I have always gone to Aveda salons, so when I moved here, I looked for one here. This was really the only one I could find. It is a nice place, but: the sink/chair setup for hair washing could be better and more comfortable, they always double-book their stylists (so I end up either waiting too long while my hair processes, or am poorly washed by a novice), and the stylists are kind of hit or miss. I have had a different one every time I have come in. They bring a senior stylist in from their sister salon, and she is always tightly booked, some of the lower level stylists are just mediocre, and having to wait 20 minutes occasionally before your appointment is an annoyance. I have gone to Aveda salons in the several states and cities in which I've lived, and this one is about medium quality in comparison. They appear to have too many clients and too few qualified stylists. Their prices are on the high side, and I wish there was another Aveda alternative in this area. read more

I have been seeing Kelly R at Ellie K for many many years. I let no one other than Kelly touch my hair! She is professional and always knows what I need after many years of caring for my hair. She even keeps me from making tragic mistakes when I get a wild idea! A long-term relationship with a great stylist makes all the difference. Ellie K is NOT inexpensive, but we are talking about your hair!! It was pretty bumpy during Covid, but Ellie K survived. Christina did my hair. Nice lady but the worst blow out I've ever gotten in my life. I literally went home, and washed my hair because I prefer my natural curls rather than the fro she left on me. The hair was 5" away from my scalp, she said she couldn't do anything else because she had another appt so i started flat ironing my own hair trying to fix it. she clearly doesn't know how to straighten curly hair. The place is located in a cute strip mall. So if you have teenagers or friends waiting they can hang there. Its a very spacious and cute place. Had a pretty good experience here. Frankie trimmed, thinned and framed my face perfectly. My curly hair is thick and she cut it with precision. Precision cuts is what Ellie K salon specializes in, although I like the cut I don't like having to have my hair separated to have it cut layer by layer to make it the same length. My preference is to have hair stylists free hand it, I'm not knocking the way they cut hair, they cut hair amazingly, it's just a matter of preference. My experience here was good, I just don't like the the neck capes that they use to drape over the body. It soaks up the water. I like that they use vegan products, because it's vegan it doesn't have any harsh chemicals. read more

I have waited for 2 weeks to write this review because I have never written a review on any business before. While the staff was very kind and the establishment was very clean, I have never had a worse haircut. I am 4 months out from my wedding and was looking for a simple trim. I had about 3 inches taken off of my hair and an absolute hack job done on my long layers. I am genuinely sad and upset about this as I have been growing my hair out for my wedding for a couple of years now. I have gone to another salon to see if there is anything they can do about the layer catastrophe and the only solution is to remove more length. With every service you receive relaxing mini massage with the Aveda oils while you wait for your stylist. Unlike traditional salons where you sit and read a magazine (which you can still do) while you wait, you have a opportunity to test out new make up products, lotions, and shop! I'm the type of person that needs to try before you buy so this is perfect for me. My haircut appointment was at 9am with Jennifer. I'm still sitting in the waiting area at 9:30am. What is the point of making appointments when you have to wait another 30 plus minutes. The receptionist called into the back letting my stylist know I was there, after 10 minutes I went back to the desk asking what was taking so long, I was told my stylist was there, after a few more minutes, the receptionist goes into the back and comes back out not saying anything to me, I walk back up to her and ask what is the issue, and I am finally told that she must be running a little late. Lying to customers, when asked specific questions is not a way to run a business. Don't waste your money!!! The first time I was there I saw a woman in tears bc of the horrible haircut she received. My mom and I got our hair done. Hers took over 3 hours for a partial hi-light and trim. We then scheduled appointments together for our next visit. I received 10+ calls, texts, emails to confirm my appointment. We showed up and they didn't have my moms appointment scheduled. The girl at the desk couldn't be bothered with the issue and went back to the phones. Another girl came up and wanted to check us in. When I told her what was going on she didn't seem concerned and asked if my mom wanted something to drink while I got my hair done. The atmosphere is very nice. However I am rating it an overall 2 for the price and quality of service. I have had very bad experiences with hairdressers who don't listen on your cut and color. I thought a level 5 stylist would be great considering the ratings this salon got. However, after 2 weeks, my gray is already starting to come back. I can get more weeks out of a box of root touch up. My haircut was not worth the money I spent. My ends feel like i fried them with the flat iron from the "texturing" that was done to thin my hair. I had a picture of the highlight color (which i did get) i wanted, yet they were done so thin, i was told when i come back in 6 weeks i could add more.
