I was surprisingly very disappointed on a Saturday afternoon July 2026 when I called in an order for pick up .. a small cheese pizza ($14.25) Theirs is quite delicious and lasts for the weekend in my fridge. When I arrived they were busy but I was told it would be just another 6 minutes. Of course I don't mind waiting for the right product.. I paid for it while I was waiting and didn't leave a tip .. The fellow with flour on his hands took my ccard just the same and I trusted it would be just as good as usual.. So I've decided since restaurants have no problem charging a lot for their food I would give my honest opinion of how it tastes. I ordered the lasagna, it's pretty bad. I would suggest going to Chianti for their Lasagna. I don't think there is even the slightest bit of it that tastes like an Italian dish. I was hoping it was going to be good because of the price, portion size is important but taste is much more important to me. I love their eggplant parmesan and get it every time I visit. Their red sauce is great. The service was good but the server was in training and was struggling. While not much to the eyes on the outside, on the inside it opens to a world of mom and pop memories from my hometown! Firstly, I need to point out that the staff is incredible! Maria was our waitress and when I say she was the best, I am not kidding! She was incredibly attentive, was helpful with menu options, and was a very joyful person. Used to be our go to place for a pizza or good Italian dinner. They even used to deliver a really decent bottle of wine but that has all changed. Not sure what has happened but they've really gone downhill. Last 3 times we ordered our delivery was missing an item. Getting a refund or having the driver come back with an item in 20 minutes doesn't make for a relaxing family dinner which is why you spend this kind of money. Tonight the pizza looked like he dropped it on the ground or something. My son ate two pieces and we threw the rest in the garbage. The wings aren't the best either. As I have said many times, before, I rate restaurants based on what they are trying to be. Tony's Italian restaurant is trying to be a small family Ron restaurant with the standard Italian menu, and they mail it. The menu is exactly what you would expect of these types of places. Lots of different pizzas, subs, pastas, and specialty dishes. What made this place stand out to me was the friendliness of the staff. I brought my 92 year old dad to the restaurant, and he is somewhat limited in terms of mobility and it takes a little while to get his order. The wait staff was so accommodating and so friendly and made him feel special. That alone warrants a five star review when so many other places would just reflect in patience with him. The menu has your standard family run Italian place items at a very reasonable price. The meals were hearty enough to be comforting but super fresh and bright. I lived in nyc all my life and coming to va, I've been looking for a good Italian restaurant but this place was a fail. I got the meatball parm and it was really salty. The cheese they used was salty and the sauce was salty, only the bread wasn't salty. The meatball was dry. You can't even taste the tomato sauce because the salt is too overpowering. I ordered the chicken Philly lunch special which is $6.99, basic toppings included but I added a few toppings, green peppers and onions grilled with Italian dressing on the side. The combo comes with fries so that was a plus because I definitely had a taste for a chicken Philly with fries. My food was hot, it was fresh, but it lacked flavor. I was about 10 minutes from my destination so unfortunately my fries were soggy and weren't enjoyable. If I return I would try my hand at another entree on the menu. I was hungry and Tony's was close by, so I decided to give it a try since their website said that they offered a gluten free crust.
