*** A 5-star gem in the heart of Harlem ... ***…read more Why 5-stars? Because it is extremely cozy imho. This brown stone stepup was built in the 1800's. Original parquet floors, wooden staircase, high ceilings ... definitely a nostalgic blast of the past. Located just a few blocks from subway entrance, so you can train down to Midtown in just 20mins. About 4-5 blocks from Morningside Park and the Columbia University campus. Several lounges, restaurants and bistros nearby to easily walk to. Diane, manager of this bed & breakfast, is sweet. She was super attentive and very accommodating. We stayed in the Emerald Suite and it worked well. Loved its marble shower and humongous windows. Yet there is also a jacuzzi suite that I must try next. Miele espresso/coffeemaker was my daily starter. Fresh fruit, croissants & comp bfast also available. *** I'll def return, so yup, highly recommended. ***

Exposed wires and bare switches coming out of the wall. Wires everywhere, NO AIR CONDITIONING outside of your bedroom so my guests and I couldn't enjoy the kitchen or the parlor due to the stifling heat and humidity, it was to put it mildly nightmarish. I planned this weekend for 9 months and I'm way beyond disappointed, they present themselves as a "Luxury" b&b and charge between 300 and 400 a night!what an absolute joke.

Great host, easy location for us to get too busy Times Square and then come back and relax in our loft suite. The room was really cool, clean, and comfortable. No complaints at all. I would definitely recommend The Cozy Inn to anyone looking for a cool place to stay in New York and would stay here again.

Neighborhood at night is a little sketchy but you are in center of Harlem. I felt safe but at night not very safe. I was ok with that but I know some people may not be. Inside is cozy and homey, the hosts are nice but more is expected from a room that is over $200/night We stayed for 6 days and not once did cleaning service come through even though they told us at check in that they come through every 4-5 days. The AC unit is ok but the air flow in the room is poor and there is no circulation to the loft where the 2nd bed is located. Thankfully it was early June and not too hot. The middle of summer would have been miserable. The downstairs can be ice box(ask for blankets) but the loft is too hot to sleep. By the way there is a large opening where the AC unit was installed so it will get very hot without AC on. The fact that they provide the cheapest single ply TP seems to represent the management's attitude. Provide the bare minimum. Paying $200 + night and not spend the extra $1 for a decent roll of TP.

The room is small but cozy and perfect for a couple. The shared bathrooms are very clean and constantly maintained. This is the authentic NYC experience: either pay five times the price for the same type of room near Times Square, or spend around $100 here and take a $20 Uber to Times Square. Plus, you'll have extra money to enjoy dining out. This isn't just about getting value for your money--it's about smart choices. I will definitely be coming back here every time I visit NYC in the future.

We booked The Central Park Hotel via Travelocity. We soon discovered this "hotel" wasn't really a…read morehotel at all. It was more so an old brownstone renting out rooms. There is no elevator and we were placed on the third floor. This wouldn't be a problem if someone helped us with our bags, but no one did, or even offer to help. My grandma has a bone disease and I feared if she carried things and took the three flights there is a higher risk of her falling and breaking a bone. I told two different people there this information two times and no one cared. They said the "hotel" was advertised as not having an elevator (it was hidden in fine print on Travelocity). I tried telling them that isn't even the issue. The issue is no one was helping us. As soon as we got on the third floor, we were hit with the strong smell of marijuana, and I called to tell "the front desk" (a small table with a folding chair) and let them know that this just wasn't acceptable, especially since we have a non-smoking room. So they moved us even higher in the building, on the fourth floor, because nothing else was available. This room was even smaller. Neither rooms were as advertised. The entire house is old and echoes every single noise. The stairs don't creak, they moan, and it's a terrible sound. My poor grandmother got zero sleep. It also claimed to have a "continental breakfast" but it was just a bag with a bagel and capri sun... We checked out immediately the next morning and they refused to give us our money back. I talked to them in person and there was no sympathy for the issues we've encountered. Travelocity called them numerous times and they refused to work with us. I would have even settled for taking only half the original fee back but they refused find a middle ground. A REAL hotel would give good customer service and at least give back a partial refund. I considered calling lawyers but luckily Travelocity helped me with a partial refund (but to be clear this was NOT with any help from the hotel). This is not an acceptable way for a local business to treat customers. They should know that word of mouth can negatively impact their business and be willing to at least pretend to work with us. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to visit me or any of my writing friends who like to write in hotel rooms so I won't recommend it to you.

I stayed here in May, the original quote for the time was $500. One month later when I booked the…read moreprice was $585 for 4 nights. I am a retired female and when I arrived I was confronted with a set of stairs to the front door, which I could cope with. Once inside I had to climb two more sets of stairs with a full suitcase. The manager was worried about for the "elderly" stairs and offered to carry my case up the remainder of the stairs. The second set of stairs were in a derelict state . Once inside the room I realized that I didn't get the nice room like the photos displayed in the ad, the bed frame had chunks missing from the timber, there were stains on the carpet , the window shutters were all broken, the door to the bathroom was obviously a replacement due to the colour and the main door to the room was patched up from what looked like previous breakins. The only nice thing about my whole visit was the bathroom, although there were paint splatters all over the vanity from paint job. I had free wifi, but it only worked one night out of four. The manager claimed that she told me the rooms are not serviced daily, but I don't remember her stating that as that would have stuck in my mind, they are serviced every other day. On leaving I had to carry my own suitcase down, then wait for the manager to turn up before I could leave. I was charged and extra $25 because I arrived after 7pm and then another $29.00 because I didn't have cash and used my credit card.
