I didn't call ahead, did a walk in on a Friday around noon...they took me right in for a color, highlight, cut, & styling... my hair is naturally wavy and crazy usually...not to mention my have thyroid issues so it's always been dry feeling no matter what products I used. I was surprised...T was able to keep all my length, my hair was not damaged at all from the bleach (I had old bleach at my ends which usually causes breakage) ... The good reviews on this place must be fake. I would pay some extra attention to the bad reviews for this place. This was first time visiting (based on Yelp reviews). Made the appointment. Showed up for appointment. Tony's is a small haircut place in an old strip mall. The inside is much more akin to a TGF haircutting place than a salon, but smaller, and a lot less well kept. To make a long story short, one woman says our appointment isn't with her and points to another woman. The other woman says she cannot honor the appointment, too busy. Great routine, a little funny even if it had been a scene in a sit-com ... bad business in the real world. I had brought my child there based on the reviews. My bad. Tony's used to be my personal hidden gem but now that they have a new location and their quality of work is being noticed by new costumers. Went in today , after many months of having not gone. Found this salon 3 yrs ago and WAS pleased with their service. Until today. I have been wearing the same look for YEARS. Trim , long layers , side swept bangs and on occasion , a shampoo. All at which I was charged $15.00. Great price I thought for being in the Copperfield area. Today , however someone different cut my hair. When he told me after cutting my hair , " that will be $30" I'm like "excuse me!" I said " I've been coming here for 3 yrs and I've never paid that much. Cindy usually cuts my hair and she always charged me $15" of course he confirms with Cindy. She walks to the counter says " no , ive never charged $15" Tony is standing right there, says nothing. I said to the guy who cut my hair, ive been coming here for 3 yrs and I guarantee this will be my last time. I had my hair shampooed . Asked for long layers which I didn't get and side swept bangs which I also didn't get . The picture says it all. And I found my transaction , screenshot it so yeah I was charged $15 and gave a $1.00 tip in Dec. so lady , don't tell me you never charged me $15. Customer service plays a BIG role and here , they lack in that dept. I have told neighbors to come here and they have told family members. Not anymore will they be frequenting this place. Please , staff , do NOT respond to my review!! You said nothing while I was in today , so don't say anything now. I wasn't even going to review , but because Cindy was basically calling me a liar , I needed to show I was not lying . Hadn't anyone ever told you the customer is always right. I was in need of a major hair cut due to the lack of lust and resiliency after pregnancy. The last few times I've gone to Tony N Friends in Bellaire, and they have done an okay job. I wanted to try somewhere new so I did some research on Yelp and found Tony's Salon to have pretty good reviews. It was a bit out of my way, but I still made the 15 mile drive to get there. There was no wait and Cindy worked on my hair. She gave me a long shampoo wash with massage and did a good job on layering my hair as I had wanted. My hair was maybe halfway down my back and thin, and she chopped off 2 inches. So I guess my 3 star rating (really about 3.5 star) is the fact that after reading a lot of other people's reviews, I knew my hair cut wasn't going to be $11, but I also didn't think it was going to be $25 for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry. I thought it would have been at most $20. For that much I could have just saved money on gas and just gotten it cut in Bellaire. I just think it's odd that other reviewers had hair way longer and thicker than mine and only paid $15 without a blow dry. By all means, I had a good experience, but I just find it disappointing when prices aren't written out as to what is included, and then at the end, the owner throws out a number as to what you should pay. Salons can be deceiving with their prices, so I guess the rule of thumb is to ask how much it will be first then go from there. What I thought and hoped was going to be a good deal turned out to be just an okay deal. read more

While the first highlight I've had in five years came out great and the haircut was exactly as the picture and Anne was friendly and personable and easy to talk to, the rest of the experience was a huge disappointment. Anne's hands and fingernails were layered in what looked like weeks of coloring and she didn't wear gloves when she colored my hair. Her station was filthy--dirty tray, coloring supplies piled up and floor not swept from previous customers' hair. I thought this was exclusive to her, but when she rotated my chair, I saw another (male) beautician who started a new client and left the floor not swept around his station from the previous customer. Also, she put something on my hair at the nape of my neck (I think it was to remove/darken this section of my hair before the highlight; however, she never told me what she was doing and left for about 15 to 20 minutes and I didn't know where she went. The next day and for a couple months afterward, my scalp always itched at this location. Also, I didn't like the fact that although I was a referral from a neighbor of mine, she booked me a 5 o'clock appt. for a two hour job and the salon closes at 6. So everyone else was gone at 6 and I was still there with just her for another hour. I just thought that was poor scheduling on her part. Lastly, I had asked her for an estimate when I made the appt. and she said she'd tell me at the appt. but never did. When the cut and color were done, I asked her how much is it and she just responded rather nonchalantly $100. This didn't come across as credible--it felt more like she was just charging whatever she thought I could afford vs. a standard service rate. If Anne would significantly improve her beautician hygiene, I would give her another chance because she is very good at cut and color. read more

When I first went inside the salon, I really was not expecting much considering how I've always had bad experiences in the past, but as soon as I sat on that chair, Anne really took the time to talk to me about what I wanted and also what she felt would look good on me. Before I had even stepped inside the salon, she had me text her pictures of my current hair and pictures of what color I wanted. She even gave me a price and squeezed me right in the same day. She was so personal and made me feel really comfortable and excited about my hair. She even told me how to take care of my hair so that it could stay nice and beautiful. I've never had such an awesome experience with a hair stylist and I'm glad I came to her. It took me 40 mins to get to the shop and it was well worth it. My hair looks amazing! I don't feel comfortable leaving a good review on here after the experience I just received. I needed to get my hair done before I went on vacation and I trusted Anne with my hair since she did a good job the first time. I really regret that now.. I had an ombré Baylayage and requested to go for a full ash blonde color. I sent her pictures of my current hair along with the hair color I wanted, and Anne agreed that it could be done. When I showed up for my FIRST appointment, there was barely any consultation of what was getting done to me. She told me that she was keeping the balayage highlights that's all I knew for sure. After 2 hours, I walked out with confidence and as I arrived home, I looked in my bathroom mirror to notice a patchy distortion in my hair, and not even near the color I wanted! She could've at least advise me that the color I wanted is a process to get to. Even then, my hair still looked horrible. I then contacted her and she agreed for me to come in and get it "fixed". So during my second visit, I assumed we had a better understanding of what I was asking for and what was able to be done to my hair. I left with the top of my hair a lot brighter, but the patchiness still remained in my hair. She told me that after a few washes and being in the sun from my vacation should get my hair to a better color. For one, no hair stylist should say "I know it's not the color you want but after a few washes..." And I read that bleaching your hair means to stay away from the heat as much as possible! My hair was pretty strong and healthy and has now been through so much stress. I spoke to Anne again about my issues, and she apologized agreed that it wasn't the color she expected as well. She then suggested that I dyed all my hair to medium brown.. My hair did not just go through so much for me to go back to a basic color.. I declined that offer, scared of getting a third "fix". She then gave me my refund. Yes, I am happy about my refund but I am not happy that I just wasted so much of my time and damaging my hair for no reason. I came to Tony's while looking at Yelp. Don't get me wrong I was weary. I've had plenty of hair horror stories that I haven't dyed my hair at all for about two years. Though it was a great ombré it was upwards of 300 bucks. As I am not rolling in the dough, and didn't want to drive to the hip heights or montrose area, I decided to try this place out. I was nervous the whole time before it was my turn. I looked at my inspiration picture and looked at it again to see if it was doable or if I would end up with brassy hair. The inspiration pic was an auburn ombré and I have dark dark brown hair. It could have easily gone wrong. Anne sat me in her chair and reassured me that she would give me exactly what I asked for. AND THATS WHAT SHE DID. Never in my life have I come out of the hair salon with exactly what I asked for. It was beyond awesome. She is great to speak to as well, made me feel like I was talking to a girlfriend. Anne is pretty epic! read more

I had a short, skinny guy who I believe was Tony, cut my hair. He was rude and had unnecessary attitude. He repeatedly told me how terrible my hair and last haircut was and was very disrespectful how he talked to me. I always appreciate advice from experts but he was so condescending. I understand that he has experience but that doesn't give you reason to be such a rude know-it-all to customers. Also, I was told on the phone it would be $15 and it was $30 when I got up to pay. He rushed my haircut and was very aggressive when combing my hair. The blow dryer was uncomfortably hot on my scalp. This will be my first and last time here. If you want a fast haircut, it's okay but if you care at all about customer service then I'd pass. I have typically gone to an upscale salon and paid ridiculous amounts to have my hair done, especially colored. I was hesitant to deviate but I am so glad that I did. I discovered Tony's on Yelp and due to the reviews I knew I had to check it out. I called and spoke with Anne. She got me in right away and treated me like a queen. I was referred to Anne from a friend. I didn't realize you couldn't call the salon and make an appointment with her. When I called the salon the man that answered the phone in a rushed voice gave me her number a hung up. I texted Anne 3 times, first she replied she would get back to me then didn't, and didn't answer my 2 follow texts. She did however reply when I told her I guess new customers aren't important to her. I was going off the other review I read and decided to check them out. I made an appoint with Cindy. I got there about 15 minutes early . The gentleman I believe is Tony ,greeted me and confirmed that Cindy would be right with me. She was finishing with another customer. I sat down and he notified her I was next. I had taken some photos showing her some examples of what I was looking for. I explained that my short haircut was over grown, and especially wanted the back along my neck cut shorter. What shocked me is that she cut my hair dry. She did not spray my hair wet at all. She did not section my hair off at all. She basically said I had to much volume and what she was doing was reducing the volume. She did nothing to the back, were I had mentioned I wanted it much shorter. I pretty much left there the same as I had walked in, but a bit shorter on the top and sides. I thought really, this is the lady everyone is saying gives a great haircut?? She seemed exhausted and uninspired to me. The two ladies she helped before me just had straight shoulder length hair cuts, nothing special . In fact one of them immediately pulled it up in a pony tail as she was paying. Who does that when you just had your hair cut and styled by a professional? That should have been a clue for me. I am disappointed with this salon. They are constantly over booking and the last straw was on my wedding day when my mom entrusted Anne to do her mother of the bride hair. The day before, Anne trimmed my hair which she rushed through and failed to wash it. In the middle of it she asked me to tell my mom to reschedule her appt. This seemed unprofessional to me, and my mom was upset bc on the day of the wedding we had several important events and was not treated as a priority.
